Game Lord's Cultivation System

91 Who Did It

The corpses in front of Yuan Chunhua were filled with their academy students and instructors.

What was horrifying to her was the fact that each of them had some of their limbs cut off as blood leaked through it.

The killing method was inhumane, and almost like a devil was toying with their lives.

After all, they weren’t killed in one slash, and the killer was taking their merry time to enjoy the despair and anguish.

“Just who would have such grudges against our academy?” Yuan Chunhua clenched her fist in anger.

Her aura started rising up, clearly unable to suppress the anger in her heart.

Suddenly, she felt a light tap on her shoulder when she was about to lose her cool.

She subsequently stopped her anger from rising any further as she turned around and stared at Jiang Ming.

Though no words had come out from her mouth, her expression and eyes were asking what he was doing.

Jiang Ming held a calm expression as he patted her..

“Instructor Yuan Chunhua, the students and instructors were expected to face certain death when they entered the Guilong Forest. You shouldn’t let emotions affect your thinking, and should keep a calm mindset to figure out what has happened here.”

“Haaa, you’re right, Jiang Ming. We were all expecting danger when we entered the Guilong Forest for an examination. It’s just that I had never expected even the instructors would have fallen here.”

Jiang Ming nodded his head as he took a few steps forward.

“Based on my perspectives, they are killed in a gruesome way that doesn’t belong to a human cultivator. It could possibly belong to the Batron or his companion.”

He then retrieved a sword and started scattering some leaves that were on top of a corpse.

“This student here has its ribcage ruptured in an unusual way, and only abyssal demons have such strength to complete this type of wound.”

Yuan Chunhua quickly took a step forward to glance at the corpse that Jiang Ming had deciphered.

And sure enough, she noticed the unusual rupturing of the corpse who held a painful expression as he died.

While Yuan Chunhua was saddened by the grotesque death, Jiang Ming had continued to move on to the next corpse to investigate.

He had one knee knelt to the ground as he inspected a female student.

“This female student had her chest sliced apart and her heart was gouged out. But the cause of death was a sword that had pierced her skull.” He concluded.

After more investigation about each corpse’s cause of death, Jiang Ming’s suspicions became more clear.

At first, he had thought these killings were done by Qi Shan.

However, the more he investigated the method of killing, the more positive he was that Qi Shan had nothing to do with these deaths.

‘Qi Shan never liked to create a bloody scene, especially when their blood could stain her clothes. If it were done by her, then she would have made her victims suffer without leaking this much amount of blood.’ Jiang Ming thought, rubbing his chin slightly.

Suddenly, like a thunderbolt had struck Jiang Ming’s brain, he recalled a mission from the Game Lord’s Cultivation System.

“The main storyline progression…” Jiang Ming muttered as he quickly opened the system prompt about the mission.

Ding!

<Sudden Quest: Investigate the Purple Mist that appeared in the Guilong Forest and find out the truth>

<Reward: Progression to the main storyline will increase by 1%>

<Current Progress: Ongoing>

__

‘As expected,’ He chuckled in disbelief.

Jiang Ming was now feeling a bit bitter when he realized how much of a fool he was.

Since the current progress of the mission was still ongoing, that could only mean one thing; he was far from finishing the sudden quest.

The Skartoom wasn’t the final boss nor was he the key point to the mission.

“Did you discover anything, Jiang Ming?” Yuan Chunhua asked when she noticed his sudden behavior change.

Jiang Ming snapped out of his daze and glanced at Yuan Chunhua.

“No, I was just thinking the enemy must be prone to blood, so the possibility of this being done by a demonic cultivator is not far-fetched.”

“A demonic cultivator…”

Sometime later, Yuan Chunhua decided to use the same formation to seal the area off.

Without any clues or hints to the current situation, she believed it was best to report the matter to her Master.

Jiang Ming had no objection to her decision, so he waited silently for her to finish setting up the formation.

Once everything was sealed off, Yuan Chunhua quickly activated her movement technique and left the Guilong Forest.

As soon as they left, she retrieved her flying sword and hopped onto it.

Jiang Ming wasn’t that far behind and managed to land on the flying sword a few seconds later.

With a swooshing sound, they returned to the academy in less than 20 minutes.

“Master, there’s an urgent matter to report.” Yuan Chunhua stormed inside the academy and called for her Master.

Of course, there were other instructors around since not all of them had gone to supervise the examination.

“What’s the matter with Instructor Yuan Chunhua?”

“Who knows? But seeing how frantic she was, something must have happened in this year’s examination.”

“Phew, it’s a good thing that I’m pretty old now and can’t handle long journeys. Otherwise, I would have been forced to supervise those students.”

While the instructors were confused by Yuan Chunhua’s frantic behavior, Jiang Ming was slowly walking toward the Principal office.

His mind was focusing on the other thing.

‘Just who could be the main culprit? If it’s not Qi Shan, could it really be a demonic cultivator lurking in the shadow?’ Jiang Ming wondered silently.

Meanwhile, in the Principal office, Yuan Chunhua had barged inside and stared at her master.

“Master, there’s an emergency in the Guilogn Forest.” She slammed her palm at the desk and shouted.

Lin Jinyun was nearly frightened to death by her aggressive behavior as he started soothing his chest.

“W-What’s the matter, Xiao Chunhua?”
