Game Lord's Cultivation System

72 Progression to the Main Storyline

Yuan Chunhua was extremely angered by Jiang Ming’s attitude but there was nothing else she could do.

‘Just why did the Princess trust Jiang Ming so much that she even swore on her honor?’ She cursed silently.

She clicked her tongue slightly in annoyance before glaring at Jiang Ming.

“Recently, there have been some abnormalities in the Guilong Forest and the emperor has tasked us to find some clues when we’re conducting the annual examination.” Yuan Chunhua whispered softly to him.

Jiang Ming raised an eyebrow.

“Abnormalities?” He asked.

“Yes, five days ago, there was an earthquake that occurred deep inside the Guilong Forest, causing a wave of purple mist to emit out. Luckily, those purple mist only seemed to reside in the inner zone of the Guilong Forest and not the outskirts.”

“…”

Just when Jiang Ming wanted to reject such laborious tasks, a system prompt appeared in front of him.

Ding!

<Sudden Quest: Investigate the Purple Mist that appeared in the Guilong Forest and find out the truth>.

<Reward: Progression to the main storyline will increase by 1%>

<Do you accept it: Y/N>

Jiang Ming had his eyes widened in shock upon seeing the system prompt messages.

What the hell do they mean by main storyline progression?

He was no longer playing Cultivation Omega, so how could there be a main storyline.

Jiang Ming staggered backward and plopped to the ground, shocking Yuan Chunhua.

“Jiang Ming? What’s wrong?” Yuan Chunhua hurriedly knelt on one knee and checked on Jiang Ming’s pulse.

“Everything is normal…” She muttered.

Meanwhile, Jiang Ming swallowed a mouthful of saliva nervously as he needed to check something.

“L-L-Log out…” He said stutteringly, closing his eyes.

A few minutes had passed by, and Jiang Ming slowly opened his eyes, only to see a panicking Yuan Chunhua in front of him.

Relief, he placed his hand on his chest, hoping to calm himself down.

With this little experiment of his, Jiang Ming managed to confirm that the current him is a reality and no longer a transparent figure where his real body would be in the bed, attached with a virtual helmet.

‘Thank god, I thought I got trolled hard,’ he thought.

His hands were still trembling rapidly as he glanced at the existing system prompt, ignoring the concerned Yuan Chunhua.

Using his mind alone, Jiang Ming decided to click on Y, effectively accepting the sudden quest.

Ding!

<Player Jiang Ming had accepted the sudden Quest>

<Game Lord’s Cultivation System wishes the best of luck to Player Jiang Ming and his journey of discovering~>

While Jiang Ming was dazed by its meaning, Yuan Chunhua decided to slap Jiang Ming’s face.

After the slap, Yuan Chunhua shouted aloud, “Jiang Ming, can you hear me?”

The slap was extremely painful, and he could feel pain throbbing on the left side of his cheek.

Rubbing it softly, Jiang Ming stared at Yuan Chunhua and asked, “What was that for?”

“Obviously, I’m slapping at you to get rid of whatever spirit is possessing you. Look at the scene you created.” Yuan Chunhua snorted coldly and pointed in a certain direction.

Jiang Ming followed the trail in the direction she was pointing at and noticed a bunch of students were looking at him with different kinds of expressions.

Realizing the mess he had created because of his shock, Jiang Ming laughed awkwardly.

“Hahaha, I was merely a bit overwhelmed by the examination this year and lost balance.” He tried to clarify his previous action, hiding the true cause of it.

Yuan Chunhua narrowed her eyes suspiciously. However, she didn’t wish to interrogate him in front of everyone so she simply nodded her head.

Turning around, Yuan Chunhua cupped her fist at Lin Jingyun.

“Master, all is well and this Jiang Ming is merely shocked to death. Sorry for the scene that he had created.”

“Since you said it like that, then we shall get this show on the road. Without further ado, the instructors that are in charge of supervising the examination can now proceed with their movement.”

The supervisor quickly nodded their head and began guiding the rest of the students to their destination.

Yuan Chunhua waited for the other students to leave the courtyard before staring at Jiang Ming.

“Speak, what was so shocking that made you stagger backward?” She demanded an answer.

Jiang Ming scratched his head slightly.

However, Yuan Chunhua seemed determined and refused to release him until he gave a response.

Seeing the circumstances, Jiang Ming sighed softly and answered, “The purple mist might not be as simple as you think, Instructor Yuan Chunhua. I feared that someone else was manipulating the situation behind the scenes.”

“And do you have a clue?”

Jiang Ming shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t know who it is, but I can tell you this. If the purple mist is not dealt with quickly, then our world might be embroiled in chaos soon.” He warned.

Based on the system prompt information, Jiang Ming was sure that this isn’t some side-quest mission that would affect nothing if it’s left alone.

A progression to the main storyline… any pro gamer would know how big of a deal this is.

‘Damn it, why is this fucking happening to me? I just want my sweet revenge, but now I have to deal with this crap.’ Jiang Ming cursed silently, hoping to find the main culprit and strangle them to death.

Meanwhile, Yuan Chunhua held a solemn expression as she decided to drag Jiang Ming’s arm.

“Since we know this is a dangerous thing to be left alone, then we must hurry our journey.” She said and retrieved her sword.

The sword shone brightly and flew around the sky for a few moments before landing next to her.

“…”

Jiang Ming was rendered speechless by Yuan Chunhua’s action.

Did she really need to show off her moves about being able to control a flying sword?

“What are you doing? Hurry up and hop on. We’re going to explore ahead of the students to investigate this matter.”
