Flowers Bloom from Battlefield

Chapter 58 - Second Attempt

The feat of Jun Min protecting a child during an ambush soon spread in the capital. The person who sent the assassins can only grit their teeth in anger as their plan had failed. The plans they carefully made have instead boosted the other party's fame. How laughable!

Yasha stared at the bandaged arm of Jun Hua with pained expression. If only he had returned earlier, then his Miss would not have been hurt.

"Don't make that face Yasha," Jun Hua smiled. "It's only my left arm."

"But still, Miss' body is precious."

Jun Hua laughed. "With medicine, it will heal in no time and there will not even any mark left. Don't worry, I won't let my body be full of scars."

"Yes Miss."

"How is the preparation?"

"Everything is ready Miss."

Jun Hua smiled. "Then it's good."

Jun Hua headed back to the camp. Many nobles didn't dare to look at Jun Hua. Her clothes were still dyed red because of the assassins' blood. She hadn't got any chance to change them as she didn't bring with her any spare clothes when she went inside the forest.

"Jun Min! Wah, your clothes are completely red!" Yan approached with Soujin beside him.

"It's not my blood," Jun Hua grinned.

"But that part is." Soujin pointed to her left arm with a frown.

"You've even noticed it?" Jun Hua grumbled. She had obviously treated the wound and bandaged it before letting her hand hang by her side. There shouldn't be any way for them to notice it that easily.

"I'm a general," Soujin said as a matter of fact.

Jun Hua knew that but this guy's eyes were truly sharp as if nothing could escape him. She didn't want to bother talking with them and turned to leave. However, before she could take a step forward, Soujin insisted on seeing her wound. She forced them to wait for her until she finished cleaning up.

"I have treated it," Jun Hua came outside after she had finished changing her clothes.

Soujin inspected the hand that had been bandaged. After a while he said. "Your wound is deep. Did you purposely block the arrow by your hand?"

"Your eyes are truly sharp," Jun Hua's answer confirmed Soujin's suspicions.

Soujin nodded.

Before long, Representative Han came over their small group to bring some food.

She grinned and began teasing Yan. "Third Brother, don't look so scared."

"Don't call me that in this place," Yan said helplessly. "Did Jun Min recognize you?"

"Yeah, his eyes are almost as sharp as Soujin's. You should have seen what happened earlier, Third Brother. That scene was truly amazing! It's like looking at a flower blossoming in a pool of blood."

Jun Hua rolled her eyes. Did Ming Hui acquire an illness? To think that she would those words to describe her! She knew that her face was still very feminine looking even after she altered it but it should not match the word "flower."

Soujin saw her rolling her eyes and said, "It's a good description."

"You didn't even see what happened there."

"I don't need to. I can already imagine it."

"Liar!"

While the other nobles still felt sick from what they have witnessed, the four of them instead exchanged banters with one another. With their elite servants guarding the surroundings, there's no chance for ordinary people to see this scene.

Lin Hong couldn't sleep that night. He was worried that Jun Min would have known that the one who fired the arrow at that critical time was him. The next morning, most of the nobles have recovered from yesterday's incident and only a few of them still wore deathly expressions.

Jun Hua was standing among them, but it seemed she didn't have any intention to continue hunting anymore. After killing four wolves yesterday, she had gained the upper hand against the rest of the participants.

"Young General Jun, are you alright?" Representative Han asked.

"I only wounded my left hand a bit but it's nothing serious," Jun Hua answered politely. "Besides, today I will be going with Prince Yan and General Soujin."

"I see," Representative Han smiled back. "I wish you a safe journey."

"Thank you."

That short conversation was heard by several people within earshot. Wounded arm? You only wounded your one arm while seven people lost their lives tragically! If these people knew the truth that Jun Hua had fought with one wounded arm, they might not think of her as human anymore. Such skill was simply beyond their comprehension!

Jun Hua departed with Soujin and Yan without looking at Lin Tang at all. Lin Kang had been nervous the whole time, afraid that Lin Hong would make a move that day but he kept his calm. They journeyed into the forest until at one point, people started to disperse.

Lin Hong turned to his father. "Father, may I go ahead from here?"

Lin Tang nodded.

Lin Hong looked at Lin Kang with a slight smile. Lin Kang was still wary because of the usual cold gaze Lin Hong gave him. When he saw that Lin Hong was looking at him, an ominous feeling swept over him as if subconsciously he knew that something bad was about happen.

"What is it, First Brother?"

"Walk with me for a while."

Lin Kang wants to refuse, but the gaze from Lin Hong made it difficult for him to refuse. The other nobles were busy doing their own things that no one paid any attention to them. Lin Kang tried to catch the attention of Jun Min, but the young general was deep in talk with Soujin.

Both of them walked away from the group. Lin Hong only wandered around aimlessly until the sounds of the crowd could not be heard anymore. He looked around and stopped at one point.

Lin Hong's eyes lit up when he saw a cliff. If the little boy were to disappear, no one should know that he was the one who tried to kill him. Yesterday, he had been tortured like crazy because of Jun Hua's cold gaze towards him. Witnessing the skill of that general and how he might find out the truth had made him unable think straight.

When they reached a spot that was covered by trees, Lin Hong stopped. Looking at the cliff, he fought the urge to push his brother down. If he really did that, he would not be able to answer to his father.

"Forget it, let's walk back again," he turned around to leave. However, his sudden movement startled the already afraid Lin Kang. The boy then slipped in his steps and fell down the cliff. Lin Hong widened his eyes, then instantly reached out to hold onto Lin Kang. Unfortunately, he was not fast enough.

"First Brother!"

The loud scream was the last words people heard from Lin Kang.
