Chapter 240 - No, I Am Neither Hungry Nor thirsty!

Chapter 240: No, I Am Neither Hungry Nor thirsty!

“What the heck!”

After a brief surprise, Cheng Dongfeng went on an outburst as well, and glared at Dumbo with a cold smile. “I won’t believe that my luck is so bad that a dog could walk all over me!”

Duan Tianhe promptly held him back, saying, “Old Cheng, let it go, let it go… why stoop to a dog’s level?”

Dumbo was certainly not amused, and its eyes turned to Duan Tianhe as it bared its teeth, “What do you mean? Are you belittling me?”

Meow!

With a loud purr, Trumbo rushed up and grabbed Dumbo’s legs with its two front paws, before purring a few more times.

It was only that Dumbo sheathe its sword and said, “My master has an important task for us and would get angry if we kept him waiting, or I would have gone a few rounds with you people. Alright, let’s go, Trumbo!”

Leaving an afterimage, it dashed deep into Mount Dadong—on its rear legs.

Recently, Dumbo had been copying human behavior in every way, even wearing a pair of baggy Superman shorts. Indeed, the impression it left as it ran along in those pants while carrying its sword was exceedingly profound.

Meanwhile, Trumbo put palm to fist, saluting Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng and purring a few times, its pit-black eyes swiveling humanly.

???

Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng traded baffled looks.

What did that mean?

What was that cat trying to convey?

Meow?

Trumbo tilted its head and purred a question with a look of slight disdain then…

Don’t you people understand cat?

That being said, while rank-seven Ferals could communicate with human using spirit, Trumbo did not do that.

After some thought, it drew its blade, releasing Blade Qi freely on the ground as he used his blade as a pen and wrote into the dirt, “Don’t be offended and stoop to that silly dog’s level. Anyway, daddy’s off.”

Dad…

Daddy?

Watching as Trumbo swiftly left, Cheng Dongfeng scowled and barked, “Damn it, these pets are so annoying! I’ll definitely beat them up if I get the chance!”

Beside them, Duan Tianhe came to his senses and quietly asked, “Old Cheng, are you sure you could defeat them?”

Nonetheless, he quickly changed the subject once he saw that Cheng Dongfeng was about to go mad, and said with a straight face, “If I’m not mistaken… are Jiang He’s pets rank-seven intermediate-pinnacle?”

“At that level, Ferals certainly would be very intelligent, but not that intelligent, right?”

Human speech could be attributed to the outstanding talent Jiang He’s dog had, but what about that Blade Qi and Sword Qi?

Both cat and dog actually learned blade techniques and swordplay, and cultivated it to strong levels… but how did they manage that?

Perhaps Jiang He’s beast-taming ability was special, and he could teach the Ferals martial arts?

Fine.

Wasn’t it a little too extraordinary even if he could teach Ferals martial arts?

And to such proficiency?

Duan Tianhe had a million questions. The Martial Arts Department (MAD) personnel who followed him were completely stunned as well, appearing astonished by Dumbo and Trumbo’s antics.

Someone even whispered, “Rank-seven intermediate-pinnacle? The dog was just rank-three a month ago!”

Everyone promptly turned to the one who said that.

It was Su Ze.

The disciple of Cheng Dongfeng’s peer was not as arrogant as he was when he first came to Lingzhou City. His whole being appeared plain now, and even seemed a little scared when everyone turned towards him, his neck shrinking as he said, “I’ve been to Jiang He’s house a few times and become familiar with his dog, and it was definitely rank-three just a month ago.”

“Impossible! If it was rank-three a month ago, wouldn’t it mean Jiang He’s dog improved to rank-seven intermediate-pinnacle in that one month?”

Everyone appeared doubtful, but Cheng Dongfeng laughed coolly. “What could be impossible these days? Alright, keep going!”

The others were not aware that he was even more familiar with Jiang He’s pets.

Those beasts had been eating Feral King and Feral Emperor meat every day—how could they not ascend that quickly?

They were also drinking one bottle of rank-nine Origin Fluid at a time, each of which was worth millions per drop… an ant would be fed up to high tiers, let alone a dog.

Cheng Dongfeng’s heart was bleeding at that very thought.

Truly, humans were less than dogs here!

***

At first, Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng kept a slow pace to walk alongside the other MAD personnel, afraid that they would be attacked by Ferals…

But after walking twenty-five kilometers, they did not come across a single whiff of Ferals, let alone sighting one.

The massive earthquake that the collapse of the heritage site caused had already sent the Ferals living on Mount Dadong scampering.

After realizing that there was no danger at all, both Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng used their form technique and began to hurry on their way.

They promptly came to a stop after another fifteen kilometers.

A hill split entirely down the middle was just ahead. They crossed it, only to find that the rift that cuts through the entire hill extends deep into Mount Dadong as well, and that it was wider and deeper the further it goes.

Over a dozen of other rifts also branched out of the enormous rift, with untold number of mountains collapsing around it.

Both Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng appeared even more shocked and somber the more they looked.

How was this different from blowing up Mount Dadong?

Was Mount Dadong not basically gone?

“Old Duan!”

“We should appeal to the higher-ups for a satellite dedicated to monitoring Jiang He… he only blew up Ferals at first, but he almost exploded Mount Dadong now. When he gets stronger, I would believe you if you tell me that he went overseas to wipe out an entire country.”

Heh…

Duan Tianhe chuckled feebly.

Monitoring Jiang He?

He was not a criminal, why monitor him?

Moreover, how many things had he accomplished for the Hua Nation in no more than two months?

Everyone knew that Jiang He’s cultivation was improving quicker than a rocket, and he must have gained a monumental providence which he never mentioned to others. Even if his original motive was not to protect the country and its people, Jiang He’s culling of Ferals and Sky Demon Cultists was an act that definitely contributed to the country.

Of course, no one dared to say anything against that now.

What if Jiang He swung his blade at you if you spoke up? Would you win?

“Moreover, satellite surveillance? Aren’t you afraid that Jiang He would blow it up as well in anger?” Duan Tianhe teased.

Meanwhile, he and Cheng Dongfeng quickly reached the rubble that was once the heart of Mount Dadong.

And on the rubble was Jiang He, sitting cross-legged on a wooden stool and having a boxed lunch, while Yan Dehao was digging something nearby with a blade.

The sun had already risen.

Once Jiang He noticed Duan Tianhe and Cheng Dongfeng, he smiled. “You’re here, great grandson, Chief Duan?”

“Have you had breakfast yet?”

“I’ve brought some boxed lunches. Want some?”

Duan Tianhe was about to shake his head and refuse when Cheng Dongfeng’s eyes lit up. He seemed to have realized something, striding up beside Jiang He in a single step while laughing, “Grand-master, do you have more? Isn’t it boring eating alone? Should I eat with you?”

Jiang He grinned and whipped out a boxed lunch, handing it to Cheng Dongfeng before taking out another and offering it to Duan Tianhe.

Shaking his head, Duan Tianhe smiled. “You can have it, Jiang He. I’m not hungry.”

He never had the habit of having breakfast, just as he had not washed his feet or brush his teeth since they came here in a hurry.

“What actually happened here, Jiang He?”

Duan Tianhe asked, and could not resist looking nearby at Yan Dehao, who was digging the ground nearby and exclaiming in surprise, “Who is he?”

“Oh, him? That’s Yan Dehao.”

Jiang He mumbled while he kept eating. “You might not know him, but you would definitely have heard of him—he’s the mole Wang Hou embedded into the Sky Demon Cult.”

“What?”

Duan Tianhe looked entirely baffled. “The mole Wang Hou placed at the Sky Demon Cult? Why did he come to Mount Dadong? And… what is he digging?”

“Corpses.”

Jiang He threw away the lunchbox he finished then, taking out a mineral water bottle and asking, “Water, Chief Duan?”

“Thanks, but I’m not thirsty. ”

Duan Tianhe shook his head, while Cheng Dongfeng’s eyes lit up again in excitement, “Grand-master, I’m thirsty…”

Nonchalantly throwing the ‘mineral water’ to Cheng Dongfeng, Jiang He took out another bottle for himself, opened it to wet his throat before saying, “Didn’t Mount Dadong have a heritage site?”

“It seems that the Graywolf King and the Sky Demon Cult had come to an agreement to open it together, and Yan Dehao incidentally came with the cardinal of the Sky Demon Cult… Eh? What’s wrong, Chief Duan?”

Even before Jiang He finished, he noticed something wrong with Duan Tianhe’s eyes.

Duan Tianhe appeared bewildered right then.

What was that aroma?

It was so sweet…

He smelled it once Jiang He opened the bottle, but Jiang He soon closed the bottle, which was why Duan Tianhe took not much notice, only assuming that Jiang He’s mineral water was quite special.

That was when Cheng Dongfeng opened his mineral water bottle too.

The man did not drink it at once after he opened it.

Instead, he held it in front of his nose, and inhaled deeply.

“Ah… so sweet.”

He murmured emotionally.

Glug, glug…

After that, Cheng Dongfeng chugged the bottle as if he had never drunk water for several lifetimes, finishing it in a single go… and that was not all, as he released his True Qi to blow out the remaining two drops at the bottom of the bottle, and carefully put it into his mouth.

Duan Tianhe’s bewilderment turned to a scowl.

Was that not too embarrassing?

Cheng Dongfeng was more or less his subordinate. Was there a need for him to do all that for a single bottle of mineral water?

Duan Tianhe was especially embarrassed since they were right in front of Jiang He, which was why he smiled awkwardly and said, “Don’t mind him, Jiang He. Old Cheng had always been like this—he must have lived through a great drought when he was a kid and is scared of going thirsty, and wouldn’t waste even a drop of tap.. water… eh?”

Even before he finished, he was gaping at Cheng Dongfeng and stood up with a swish.

Cheng Dongfeng’s body convulsed and his eyes shone in delight. “I’ve actually ascended in spirit… Grand-master Jiang He, does the Origin Fluid in this bottle improve spirit?”

What the hell!

Duan Tianhe’s eyes went red upon realization.

Origin Fluid?

And one that strengthened spirit?

He slapped himself in the face with a loud smack, almost bursting into tears…

‘Me and my big mouth! I actually refused when Jiang He offered me a whole bottle!!!

‘That being said…

‘Are you really that inhuman, Jiang He?

‘Carrying Origin Fluid around in mineral bottles?

‘Even asking people anyone you meet if they are thirsty… do you take that treasure for tap water?’
