“I will let you know tomorrow. Please help me take care of all the trouble caused by this if I decide to go to Beijing. If I decide not to go, please do not come back to me for this,” said Wang Yao.

“Okay, I promise!” said Guo Sirou.

Guo Sirou then left.

Beijing!

Wang Yao looked through the window while lying on the couch. The sun had gone down, and the leaves were swaying in the wind. San Xian was sitting inside his dog house, and Da Xia was standing on the tree.

It was very quiet on the hill.

Wang Yao went back home after dark and found his sister was home as well.

“Hi, Sis, it’s not Sunday or a holiday today. What brings you back?” asked Wang Yao.

“I’m here for you!” said Wang Ru grumpily.

“Me? Why does it have anything to do with me?” asked Wang Yao.

“The person who wanted you to see a patient asked one of the deputy mayors to be his sponsor. People from my workplace saw him and the deputy mayor the other day and told almost everyone in my workplace. They all thought I have something to do with that deputy major. Some people even said I was his mistress! Whose mistress?!” said Wang Ru angrily.

Wang Yao was surprised to hear his sister’s complaints. He didn’t expect to bring so much trouble to his sister. It was really him who made people talk behind his sister’s back.

“I’ve decided to take two days off so that I won’t hear all that gossip,” said Wang Ru.

“Well, sis, you haven’t done anything wrong. I think the longer you hide away from this, the more they will talk about you,” said Wang Yao.

People would gossip, and there was nothing Wang Yao could do to stop them. But, he could do something to prevent further damage to his sister’s reputation.

“By the way, what is the name of that deputy mayor?” asked Wang Yao.

“I don’t know,” said Wang Ru grumpily.

“Yao, where are Chen Boyuan and Xia Su from?” asked Zhang Xiuying.

“Beijing,” replied Wang Yao.

“Beijing?” said Wang Ru in surprise. “People from Beijing would come all the way here to ask you to treat some patient?”

“Haha, I don’t know why, maybe because your brother has some unique medical skills,” said Wang Yao.

“Beijing is so far from here,” said Zhang Ziuying.

She had been thinking about Chen Boyuan and Xia Su since their visit a few days ago. As Wang Ru mentioned them, she was even more worried. Obviously, those two men were powerful enough to have a deputy mayor as a guarantor. It was beyond her imagination because her family was ordinary.

“Mom, you don’t need to worry about it.” Wang Yao could tell that his mother was worried. “Those people will leave very soon, and they will no longer bother us,” added Wang Yao.

“Are they powerful people from Beijing?” asked Wang Ru.

“I suppose so,” replied Wang Yao.

“How did they know about you?” asked Wang Ru seriously. She was also worried about her brother.

“I guess they just heard of me from someone,” replied Wang Yao.

“Let’s have dinner first. We can talk about it later,” said Wang Fenghua who ended the topic.

Wang Yao didn’t go back to Nanshan hill after dinner as his father asked him to stay. Wang Yao sat with his family and watched TV, ate some fruit and sunflower seeds, and talked for a bit.

“Yao, who do they want you to see?” asked Wang Fenghua.

“Should be a young girl,” replied Wang Yao.

“Is she pretty? Well, how about you and Tong Wei? Is she going to come back here during Labor Day weekend?” Wang Ru’s eyes brightened up.

“Right! Labor Day is around the corner. You should pick up Tong Wei from Dao City. I think that girl is really nice. How have you been getting along with her recently?” As soon as someone mentioned Tong Wei, Zhang Xiuying was excited.

Wang Ru and Zhang Xiuying successfully made the whole family forget about those people from Beijing temporarily.

Cough! Cough! Wang Fenghua coughed twice.

“Sorry to interrupt, Dad,” said Wang Ru.

“Is the girl very ill?” asked Wang Fenghua.

“Yes, they said she could only live for about seven more days,” said Wang Yao.

“What? Only seven days!?” said Zhang Xiuying in shock.

“Which doctor can be so accurate about how long she can last for?!” Wang Ru sounded doubtful.

“We are talking about doctors in Beijing. It is not uncommon for prestigious families to know divine Chinese Traditional Medical Practitioners. Some practitioners have higher medical skills than what you could ever imagine,” said Wang Yao. Wang Yao thought about Sang Guzi who he met in Cangzhou. Cang Guzi was one of those practitioners. He was not only an extraordinary doctor but also a noble person. He was the role model of medical practitioners.

“Can you cure her?” asked Wang Fenghua.

“I’m not sure. I have to see her in person to make an accurate diagnosis,” said Wang Yao. He just realized that his father seemed to care about this very much which surprised and confused Wang Yao.

“Dad, what’s going on today? How come you are so interested in this?” asked Wang Yao.

“Nothing. I just thought that human life should be of greater value than anything else,” said Wang Fenghua.

“You are right, but your son is not the god of mercy who must save everyone,” said Wang Yao.

“Well, don’t worry about what I said; you make your own decision. Don’t worry about bringing us trouble,” said Wang Fenghua.

“I see,” said Wang Yao.

Wang Yao left home at around 9 pm and went back to Nanshan hill.

Should I go to Beijing? thought Wang Yao on his way to Nanshan hill.

In Beijing, which was thousands of miles away from Lianshan, was one of the busiest cities in the eastern hemisphere. The nightlife in Beijing was even more colorful than what was happening during the day.

Somewhere in Beijing located a quiet house.

Several people were sitting around a bed.

“How is she?” one of those people asked.

“I tried to use acupuncture to save her, but it didn’t work well. If no one can come across a solution within three days, even God can’t save her!” said a doctor.

“Three days?” said a graceful middle-aged woman whose body was shaking. She almost fell to the ground.

“Mom!” a handsome and strong young man standing next to her held on to her.

“Have you heard from Boyuan?” said the middle-aged woman.

“Not yet. Boyuan has seen the doctor. But he still doesn’t want to come here. Miss Guo also went to see the doctor,” said the young man.

“Well, tell Boyuan, don’t force him to do anything against his will!” said the middle-aged woman.

“What? Why?” asked the young man.

“It’s her destiny!” said an old man in his 70’s. “It’s Xue’s destiny!”

“Grandpa, I don’t believe in destiny. I can go to South Xinjiang immediately to invite that person here!” said the young man.

The old man shook his head silently.

“That person was so ill himself; how can he come here?” said the middle-aged woman.

“Who is talking next to me?” asked a girl lying in the bed. “I can see a bright light. What is it?” said the girl again.

The girl in a deep sleep seemed to see a bright light and a lot of people, including her grandpa, father, mother, and brother. All of her family members seemed to be sad. They were talking and crying.

“Why are you so sad? Is it because of me?” murmured the girl.

Am I going to die?

She had thought about death numerous times and had also cheated death numerous times. It looked like she wouldn’t be able to survive this time.

“San Xian, do you think I should go to Beijing?” murmured Wang Yao.

He was sitting outside his cottage and looked at the sky. San Xian was lying next to him.

He didn’t want to go to Beijing because he was afraid that his current lifestyle would be disrupted. But it looked like the more he was scared of going to Beijing, the more likely he was going to go.

Wang Yao stared at the sky until 10 pm; then he returned to his cottage.

That night he had a weird dream. He dreamed about a girl wearing a colorful dress and riding on white clouds. He couldn’t see her face, but when he woke up and thought about it, he believed the girl he dreamed about must be extremely pretty. A goddess from heaven must be very pretty.

The sunshine was dim the next morning.

A person was practicing Tai Chi on the top of Nanshan hill. The wind passed as he was moving.

It was windy at the beach of Haiqu; the tide was coming in. A pretty young woman was standing on the beach and looking at the ocean.

“Have you heard from him yet, Miss?” asked her friend.

“I’m waiting for his call,” said the young woman.

“Why does he dislike Beijing so much?” asked her friend.

“I would do the same if I were him.” The young woman ran her fingers through her hair as the wind blew.

She continued, “Country life is so nice. You can stay quiet and do whatever you want. Think about it, if he goes to Beijing and cures Xue, everyone in the medical and pharmaceutical industry would know him. Xue’s family had invited so many specialists from both China and overseas. None of those people could cure Xue. A person must possess incredible medical skills to be able to cure Xue. Every one of us could be ill because of what we eat and what we do. It would be wonderful to have high social status, money, and health at the same time!”

“You can’t have everything,” said her friend.

“So, it was not easy to find a good doctor. Once people get to know his extraordinary medical skills, he will no longer have a peaceful life. I’m afraid some people will try their best to keep him in Beijing!” said the young woman.

“I don’t think we are powerful enough to get rid of all the potential trouble caused to him easily,” said her friend.
