Duke Pendragon

Chapter 369

All the absolutes in this place knew.

They knew the significance behind the melody being sung by the Nameless Necromancer.

They knew what would happen once he finished the spell.

[How could this be!]

[This cannot be…!]

The dragons burst into sighs of absurdity, and the Nameless Necromancer continued speaking with his arms spread open. However, Seiel only gazed at the Nameless Necromancer as if he had been expecting this.

[You…!]

Amuahlt opened his mouth wide to exhale a breath in an attempt to stop the Nameless Necromancer from completing his spell.

Rumble!

A black glow erupted from the staff of the Nameless Necromancer. Black clouds of energy immediately surrounded his body.

Seiel raised his voice.

“It’s useless. He has been preparing this spell for years! If you intervene in the ritual of the spell now, those who will be summoned here will not be able to return! You know what that would signify, right?”

[Krrr…!]

At Seiel’s words, the mana gathering in Amuhalt’s jaw gradually dissipated. The strongest creatures on earth were at a loss.

The high priest of the Death God was attempting to summon a god. He was trying to fulfill his wish through them. Moreover, he was about to summon two gods.

Two or more gods needed to be present in order to fulfill the sorcerer’s wishes without receiving any interference and reprimands from the other gods.

[Seiel!]

“There is not much I can do. But…”

He observed the situation with a cold gaze, his eyes heading to a certain place. His gaze was placed upon Soldrake, who had fallen from the sky due to the sword of a god.

Kwaaaa!

As if feeling Seiel’s gaze, Soldrake slowly raised her long neck. Her eyes, which had been filled with a silver-white glow, contained a trace of its original light.

“…I invite you in the name of Çarcas! Reveal yourselves, almighty beings that transcend good, evil, life and death!”

The Nameless Necromancer shouted with his arms wide open. Amuhalt and the other dragons looked up at the sky with anxious expressions.

Rumbbleee!

Thunder resonated in the night sky. Then, waves of light began to shimmer in the sky, just like the auroras of the north.

“Oh! Ohhh…!”

The Nameless Necromancer burst into joy. This was his long-cherished desire. After dreaming of it for hundreds of years, it was finally coming true.

Paaaaa…!

As if responding to his expectations, the waves of light dominating the night sky radiated even more intensely. However, that was it. There were no further changes.

“Hmm…!?”

The Nameless Necromancer frowned. There was nothing wrong with the spell. All the required conditions for its activation had been met. Nevertheless, the beings he called for did not appear.

His frown deepened, and he scrutinized the spreading glow in the dark sky. He flinched.

“No way…!”

The Nameless Necromancer jerked his head around. He could see Soldrake slowly raising her head. He was shaken to see her move, since he thought she was already dead.

However, he soon regained his smile.

Her condition was horrible. Anyone could see that she was on the verge of death.

“Everything has already been decided, so hurry back to the side of your brothers, Queen. After I call upon the two gods, the flow of the world will be…”

[Foolish being.]

“Hmm?”

The Nameless Necromancer narrowed his eyes after hearing Soldrake’s words.

[It is not you who are calling the two brothers.]

Her eyes, which were gradually losing their light, turned toward the sky.

“Hmm!”

A sudden feeling of unease struck the Nameless Necromancer. Then, a ‘voice’ flowed from Soldrake, the Dragon Queen who was about to greet death.

“All conditions have been fulfilled. A thousand men’s blood, and a thousand monster’s blood. The blood of a dragon monarch and a human monarch. Today, when the sun and the moon meet, I will keep my ancient pledge with my old brothers, so accept my invitation…”

“What…!?”

The Nameless Necromancer shouted with shock.

At that moment.

Rumbleeee!!!

An unparalleled roar broke out, and the waves of light fluttering in the sky split to the sides like curtains.

Kwaaaaaaa!

Particles of light descended towards Fort Bellint. It was as if the entire milky way was plummeting to the ground. In the shower of light, two figures could be seen. They possessed distinctly different appearances.

One was a knight equipped with pitch-black armor and a four-horned helmet. His long, black hair fluttered beneath his helmet. The other knight was adorning a crimson armor in the shape of a dragon, carrying a gigantic chamado behind his back.

[That is…!]

Ellagrian burst into an exclamation after seeing the knight carrying the chamado.

“Dragon God Drian…”

Seiel spoke his name in a trembling voice. Following suit, Amuhalt and the other dragons folded their wings and bowed their heads.

“The dragon of the beginning! I greet the Beholder of All Dragons!]

[Respect to the Wings of Magnificence!]

The strongest beings on earth showed respect towards the knight in red they called Drian. The knight in black turned towards Seiel.

“It has been a long time, child of Illeyna. But how come you aren’t saying hello?”

“Demon God Langaro…”

Seiel’s shoulders trembled lightly. He continued with a bow.

“The knight of Illeyna greet the Dragon God and the Demon God.”

Although his words were extremely respectful, Seiel bit his lips. Of the nine gods, the two in front of him were the most demanding and fickle.

“Old brothers, great beings of the heavenly realm… The conditions of the pledge have been fulfilled.”

“…..”

Soldrake’s powerless voice resounded once more. The Dragon God and the Demon God gazed at the Dragon Queen, who was on the threshold of death.

Their interaction was suddenly interrupted by someone’s desperate shout.

“The ritual was initiated by me!”

It was the Nameless Necromancer. He continued in an aggravated, urgent voice, which was completely contrasting to his usual demeanor.

“I am the one responsible for summoning you! The blood of a thousand men, the blood of a thousand monsters! And the blood of a human monarch…”

Demon God Langaro silently gazed at the Nameless Necromancer. He lifted a finger and pointed it towards the dark sorcerer.

Fwoooosh!

An intangible energy shot forward from the tip of his finger and shot towards the Nameless Necromancer. The sorcerer became alarmed and raised his mana to create a magic barrier. However, the intangible energy effortlessly passed through the barrier and struck the Nameless Necromancer’s chest.

“Keugh!”

He stumbled while vomiting black blood.

“A mere servant dares to intervene in the conversation between us and an old brother? I will leave it at that in consideration of Çarcas.”

Only two streams of red light were visible from the darkness inside his helmet. After speaking, he turned towards Soldrake, whose light was gradually fading, then turned to Drian.

“The Dragon Queen fulfilled the conditions.”

“Hmm, definitely. Sol gave her own life.”

“Kee… W, what!?”

The Nameless Necromancer shouted with disbelief. He had been groaning in pain. A single gesture from Langaro had caused his mana to flow backwards.

“P, perhaps…?”

His vain eyes continued trembling, and he turned his gaze. Seiel smiled coldly upon receiving his gaze.

“That is right, evil one. I did not kill Soldrake. She threw herself into the goddess’ sword. As such…”

Seiel laughed mockingly at the Nameless Necromancer for a moment, then continued after turning to the Dragon God and the Demon God.

“Langaro and Drian descended to keep their pledge with Soldrake, not you.”

“…..!”

The eyes of the Nameless Necromancer grew with shock. As if he was filled with disbelief, he turned his quivering eyes to Soldrake and the two gods. Soldrake was about to exhale her last breath, and the two gods were standing in front of her.

“Sol.”

Drian’s gaze was warm as he stared at Soldrake. After staring at Soldrake with his crimson eyes for a moment, he spoke in a soft voice.

“The pledge will be fulfilled. So speak your wish.”

“My wish is…”

Soldrake gathered the last of her strength and spread her wings. Soon, a small light began gathering on the tip of her horns, then shot towards a certain direction.

“…Please…”

After speaking in a voice only audible to the two gods, the light faded from Soldrake’s horns. Her head gradually fell to the floor.

She was smiling.

Boom!

The Queen of All Dragons faced her end under the bright moonlight.

“…..”

The two gods silently watched the scene unfold, then turned their eyes toward each other.

“What do we do?”

“Sol kept her oath. We have to respect her wishes.”

The two gods nodded while sharing a gaze, then floated into the air.

“Langaro! Drian! Where are you going?”

Seiel hurriedly called out.

“We will be fulfilling the pledge. Afterwards, we will be returning to the heavenly realm. Come to think of it, is it not time for you to return as well? Since you expressed her authority in this world.”

“…..”

Seiel bit his lips.

Even though he was a general of the heavenly realm and an angel, he was nothing in front of the two gods.

“And you, the servant of Çarcas.”

“…..!”

Langaro spoke in a cold voice. It was impossible to tell the god’s expression because of the obsidian helmet. All the mana in the Nameless Necromancer’s body had refluxed to an irreversible point, and he balked after being called.

“The laws of nature can never be reversed. Causality will be maintained to possess a proper flow. That is what you wanted, right?”

“T, that… is correct…”

“Thanks to your little tricks, Çarcas’ power has been growing in the heavenly realm. As such, the other brothers are keeping him in check. Servant, is that the flow of rationality and causality you speak of?”

“…..!”

The Nameless Necromancer took on a devastated expression.

“How… could that be… I… caused a twist in the flow of causality…?”

He murmured with a blank look, as if he had been struck on the head with a hammer.

“Soldrake’s authority will no longer reach the land she loved so much. Though he caused a twist in causality, the one who followed the right path in himself will also follow the newly established causality with Soldrake.”

Fwoosh!

Langaro spoke strange, incomprehensible words, then flew into the night sky with Drian. They were headed towards where Soldrake’s last light had pointed to…

It was the place where the Ancona Mountains and the mausoleum of the Pendragon Duchy were located.

***

“…..!”

Raven was blankly staring at his reflection. Then, he suddenly became alert. Although he was without a body, he could feel it.

Something had been cut off.

“Sol…”

Raven muttered to himself, then turned his head. He felt unparalleled energy approaching the mausoleum from the endless darkness of the night sky, from outside the Pendragon Duchy’s mausoleum.
