After making sure that no zombies are sneaking around the staircase leading to the apartments upstairs, he moved forward.

"Did he went inside the residential apartment? What he's looking for? The area should be already raided clean by the scavengers." Satella said. She recently came back from one of the blocks, and there was no food to be found.

The two were actually stranded here because they were ambushed by a horde of zombies two days ago. Although they're safe right now, their food supply was almost exhausted. They might have ended up as the breakfast for the zombies already if zhang Qin Feng appeared a little later.

"Maybe he has a secret stash somewhere? Should we follow him and rob him to see if he has some food with him?" the other girl beside Satella asked.

Zhang Qin Feng felt like he was a bin collector running from one residence to another. Although not every home had what he was looking for, they still gathered up into ten to a hundred grams when put together.

Of course, there's a zombie or two occasionally in one or two of the units across the entire floor. They're likely the unlucky people that failed to escape when the virus outbreak started. Or perhaps, some that unwilling to run after seeing how terrible is the mess outside.

Zhang Qin Feng was exhausted after he went through five levels without getting a rest in between. This was also the far longest journey he ever had, where it has been close to three hours from the second he came here.

'Huh... Let's get a rest first...' Zhang Qin Feng accessed the rucksack behind him for a can of lemonade. Coincidently, Satella and the other female companion of hers were sneaking up to the level where he's at.

"Shh..." Satella made a fist sign and pointed at her ears next. It was their agreed hand signal that means they should stop and listen before making their next move.

The sound of Zhang Qin Feng finishing the entire can of lemonade before he pressed the aluminum can flatly make the two curious at what he was doing. It made them even more suspicious when he burps.

"Wo..." the whining sound of a zombie alarmed everyone present on the floor. But it surprises the two girls the most as the zombie was just a few steps from reaching them.

"Zombie! Zombie!" the other girl behind Satella panicked. Unable to keep the sound from coming out of her lips, she ended up alarming Zhang Qin Feng and the zombie behind them.

"Woo!!!" the zombie immediately lunged at her and went for a bite.

"Ah! No! Satella, help me!" the girl raised her arm to push the zombie away, but it was a step faster as it already bitten into her arms by the time she managed to put in some strength.

"Let go of her, you stupid zombie!" Satella draws the dagger by her waist and stabs it into the zombie's skull. The corpse fell, but it was already too late. Based on how contagious is the Seed Crystal Virus, this girl is likely turning into a zombie within an hour.

"Satella, I don't want to die! Please help me!" the girl cried. To someone bitten like her, it felt like her life was forfeited at this moment.

"You won't die... Let's get back to the survivor camp. I'll buy the Decrystallizing Serum for you no matter how much it costs!" Satella said. She turned herself around as she tried to get her companion on her back.

And that's when she saw a pair of shoes in front of her. Looking up slowly, she noticed that there was a pistol pointing at her.
