Dimensional Store System In Apocalypse

Chapter 157 - Trash Or Treasure? (2)

'Are you joking with me?' Zhang Qin Feng had the urge to scream loudly after listening to what the fifth member just said. But he did not go along with what he had in mind. He still the boss of this Wind Base, and it would be a joke for him to lose his composure.

"Food, you say?" Zhang Qin Feng sounded like he didn't hear what he was saying.

"I'm sorry, boss. Please treat it like I never say anything. I'm willing to become a slave if you want me to do so. Please don't kick me out from the base." the fifth member panicked.

"When did I say I'm going to kick you out? And answer my question. Did you just say... Food?" Zhang Qin Feng chuckled in his heart.

(I would be a fool if I kicked you out... You're my Midas touch, you fool. You'll be the one that I need to turn those soy proteins into gold. I'd lock both of your legs with chains if I needed to...)

Zhang Qin Feng thought.

"Yes! Gastronomy Science and Protein Reconstruction Research!" he answered in a firm and loud voice.

"Hmm... I wonder what kind of food you can create. What facility you need to start your work?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.

"Sorry, but I don't get your meaning, boss..." the fifth new recruit said.

"I mean, what you need to start doing what you're good with? Zhang Qin Feng rephrases his sentence.

"Erm... I'll need a lab for food research and materials to study. The outcome of the study will depend on what kind of result we're looking for." the recruit answered.

"Alex... Drag this guy and his belonging into my building. Stuff him into one of the rooms on the first floor. I'll get Marvin over to see what he'll need to start working."

"Here, take this." Zhang Qin Feng shifted his attention back on this recruit and gave him four items.

A packet of sausage, crackers, bread, and bean paste soup mix.

"I have plenty of these, but I want you to study them. You have one day to tell me if you can replicate them perfectly." Zhang Qin Feng said with a smile hanging on his face.

"By the way, what do they call you?" he suddenly remembered that he's yet to get this guy's name...

"L-Liam! My name is Liam, boss!" the recruit answered.

"Good. You'll have more things to do soon." Zhang Qin Feng chuckled and followed Alex as they headed to the back of the base.

"What luck you have there... Everyone was hoping to live in the main building, do you know?" the member that brought Liam over said. They were making a mess of his hair to congratulates him.

...

...

...

"Guys! Look who's here!" Alex called them while there are still a few meters distance away. It seems they're in the middle of testing the weapon Zhang Qin Feng was asking for.

"Boss."

"Boss."

"Boss."

Marvin, Victor, and Valerian quickly greet Zhang Qin Feng when they saw him coming. Especially Victor. He seems impatient as he hastily replaced the weapon's cartridge and prepped it up for Zhang Qin Feng.

"Was it completed?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. Although he still has some questions about its reliability, he can roughly guess judging from the scale of destruction around them.

"I would say it's about 80% completion. All we needed to do right now was to adjust the size, firepower, and design of the grenade to make it highly efficient in battle." Victor answered. He handed out the loaded weapon and urged Zhang Qin Feng to give it a try.

"The design looked nice. But what's important was the firepower... Shall we try?" Zhang Qin Feng placed the back of the rocket canister over his shoulder and aim at the target. The crosshair was marked using the same interface lens attached to the Phalanx-Custom.

Zhang Qin Feng pulled the trigger of this near 1,000mm long launcher. The weapon shook slightly as the Rocket Propelled Warhead was launching. It seems the recoil from firing was not as pressuring as he thought.

But that's because there are significant differences in technical achievement. Although Zhang Qin Feng is yet to try firing a Bazooka made from the modern world, he could still notice the difference based on the flame.

Flying at an estimated 150m/s on launch and close to 400m/s on the flight, the warhead struck the metal drum about 300 meters away fiercely and blew it up on the air. But in terms of firepower, the designer would have to twerk it to cause more damage.

From the look of it, the metal drum is still 70% intact. Although the zombies were made of flesh, the flesh might be as durable as steel when stacked together.

"It was pretty good, but I think we should improve it a little more. What do you think, Alex?" Zhang Qin Feng passed the launcher tube to Alex, who's standing beside him.

Since Alex looked eager to try the weapon, Victor took another Rocket Propelled Warhead out from the ammunition case. The overall process of reloading and firing was the same. But this time, the metal drum was blasted outside of the firing range.

'Stein... What's the difference between Alex's shot and mine?' Zhang Qin Feng asked. He felt that he was firing the weapon naturally. The explosion point was about the same too. But there seem to be two significant differences between his explosion and Alex's.

[Toot... Munition status cleared... Ammunition... No differences... Trajectory... Scanned... All cleared]

-

[Based on the system's report, the slight differences came from your aim. The hitting point of Alex was on the lower side and few inches away from the target. This allowed the detonation to reveal all its potential]

-

[Different from the user's point-blank discharge, it focused on straight-up destruction. This limits the explosive range and also its overall potential during the explosion]

'Aii... Looks like I have to go for some proper shooting lesson before randomly playing with a weapon way above my level to handle...' Zhang Qin Feng shook his head.

"Boss?" Victor, Marvin, and Valerian were there waiting for his words.

"Good job. Let's improve this, and we'll produce more of it to aid our vanguards in breaking through the zombie's barricade," Zhang Qin Feng said.
