Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 71: Spar

“Spar with you?” Khal was a bit stunned by what Logan said.

He was currently on the Second Cultivation Stage while Logan was visibly way above him; it could be quite feasible that he already reached the principal’s Stage, the Eighth Cultivation Stage! And now he wanted to spar with him? Wouldn’t that be kind of… Bullying?

Logan easily recognized Khal’s worry and just simply smiled, “No need to worry, we will spar fair and square. I will lower my power onto the Second Cultivation Stage.”

Although a bit worried because even like that Logan will have stronger basic knowledge but Khal still nodded. He knew that this was the perfect chance to practice with his new Secret Art.

“Okay, where will we fight and what will be the goal?” Khal naturally knew that simple sparring won’t be possible against Logan so he must have a plan and that’s why he asked him in a low voice.

“I will show you right away.” as Logan’s words fell, the scenery around changed and Khal found himself in a completely different place. The cave walls turned into a vast green land without anything in the distance while the ceiling turned into a boundless sky with the sun hanging high above his head; it turns out he was outside Moon City once again.

“Where are we?” asked Khal calmly but inside his heart, he was shocked.

Blade Mountain was a sealed space that only those could enter and leave who had the key, the authority to do so. Yet, Logan not only entered without his approval like Jas in the past, but he also teleported them out with a single move! This made him utterly speechless unable to find an explanation of how did Logan do it.

“We are currently in the edge of Moon City’s territory, a remote area where there is nothing, not a single wild beast. And because no one comes here I thought this would be the perfect place for our sparring section.” grinned Logan as he explained.

Khal instantly understood his teacher’s aim and nodded; it appears that Logan wanted to fight with him in a place where no one and nothing will disturb them, meaning, Khal can give his all without holding back.

“Then let’s start,” said Khal and readied his stance.

“Haha! I like your ambition but wait a second.” chuckled Logan and raised his index finger, “First let me clear the rules.”

“Rules? What kind of rules?” knitted his brows in confusion Khal as he glanced at Logan. Generally, any sparring section had to establish rules just like killing was prohibited or no help from others but currently they were master and disciple; it was only natural for them to not kill each other. Yet, for some strange reason, Logan wanted to make rules and this ignited Khal’s curiosity.

“First rule, you can fight with anything you find good, let it be a real weapon or your bare hands.”

Extending his middle finger, Logan continued, “Second rule, if I use a power that surpasses your current Stage I lose.”

“Third rule,” raising his ring finger Logan smiled suddenly and said, “Come at me like you want to kill me. If you can injure me even the slightest, I will buy you anything you want; naturally below a reasonable price.”

“…” Khal stayed silent for quite a while with a nonchalant expression, but deep inside his heart he was shocked. Logan said if he injures him he will get whatever he wanted! This was a blessing in disguise!

But even before he could have lived himself into the mood, the next sentence made his expression to froze up.

“But if I win and succeed to knock you out, you need to do what I tell no matter what.” exclaimed Logan with a shady smile, giving Khal a chilling sensation in his body.

As silence entered and settled between the two, Khal decided to think over everything. The first and second rule was quite easy to understand, it could be said they were basic principles in fights similar to this. However, half of the third rule and the last thing Logan said… They were way too strange and confusing.

‘Come at me like you want to kill me’ and ‘if I win you do whatever I tell you these two made Khal feel that something was amiss. It was understandable that he needed to give his all to win, and get a reward if he succeeded and punishment if he failed, but that mild smile of Logan gave him a bad feeling. It was like he looked at a cunning fox who was about to bait him into his trap.

“Well then, let’s start it. Remember, come at me with everything,” said Logan in a low voice and his presence lowered onto the Second Cultivation Stage.

Khal saw this and realized he couldn’t refute Logan so lowered his stance while his expression relaxed; his eyes became tranquil and concentrated in a split second.

“Yes, that is right.” nodded Logan and signaled Khal to attack.

“Here I come!” spoken Khal calmly and after his weapon appeared in his right hand his eyes turned sky blue with a crimson slit in their middle while the air gently trembled around his feet.

Dance of The Celestial Serpent; Crimson Snake Dance!

*Swish!*

*BAM!*

Accelerating the Essence flow inside his feet, Khal’s feet sunk deep into the ground, forming wide and long cracks one after another, and his figure burst forward like a thunderbolt during a chaotic storm.

In a split second, his silhouette traveled a close distance of 10 or so meters and appeared before Logan in a flash while with a horizontal swing aimed at his teacher’s chest with his weapon.

“Fast! But sadly still in the beginning phase,” exclaimed Logan with a profound glint in his eyes and moved his arm.

With a similar speed to Khal, Logan’s palm appeared in the way of Khal’s dagger and hit the weapon aiming at his chest to the side.

As the crystal weapon was whacked to the side making Khal’s whole body to be wide open for any kind of attacks Logan was ready to move and do a counter-attack but suddenly his eyes flashed; in an instant, he raised his other hand to the side of his head.

*BAM!*

The very moment his hand had been smashed to the side by Logan, Khal used the opportunity to lean to the side and like a whip, kicked at his head. However, his attempt was defended off as easily as breathing in the air while a smile emerged on Logan’s face.

“Not bad.”

“!?”

Khal wanted to move as he noticed the smile on Logan’s face but it was already too late; Logan moved his hand which he used for defense and with one fast but smooth motion grabbed Khal’s ankle firmly.

“Now it is my turn,” said Logan as he swung his arm toward the sky still holding Khal, and threw him high up into the air.

“?”

While Khal was still confounded by the sudden change of events, Logan below him raised his arm gently, and as black flames manifested around his fist swung at Khal above him sending a huge raging explosion in the shape of a wild dragon at him.

*BOOM!*
