Chapter 397 - Met with Manla

Chapter 397 Met with Manla

However, the more normal the state was, the more it made people feel like something was wrong. Manla regarded it as the calmness after the storm without thinking about it too much.

She slowly walked over to Gu Yan with a smile. She was refreshed, and her high ponytail made her keen-witted and capable.

She sat down opposite Gu Yan and shook Gu Yan’s arms impolitely. Gu Yan turned her head and stared at her for a long time, and then she said, “You are here!”

Gu Yan felt sad immediately when she saw Manla appearing beside her. She had not seen Manla for a long time. She secretly sniffed and tried to calm down.

When Manla was not looking, she quickly wiped the tears. At this moment, she could not be found by Manla that she had a bad time. Otherwise, Manla would stay without hesitation and accompany her to spend the hard time.

However, Gu Yan didn’t want Manla to worry about her. Moreover, she had her life and work. “Now I am the only one who can help me.” Gu Yan warned herself time and time again.

“Fortunately, it was me, or you would not know the shop had been stolen if someone with ulterior motives came.” Manla pointed at Gu Yan who looked sleepy. She kindly reminded Gu Yan that she should pay attention to the shop and looked at her with distress and worry.

Gu Yan smiled and turned to the worktop.

“I want mango milk tea!” Manla said impolitely. She sat down in a most comfortable place, leaned on the sofa, crossed her legs, and enjoyed the unique moment. She lowered her head and kept looking at her friend.

“Got it! You always want mango milk tea. I know it.”

Gu Yan acted quickly and put a cup of mango milk tea in front of Manla who was looking at her with admiration. She proudly sat across from Manla with a sweet smile.

“You are getting more used to this job.” She praised Gu Yan. She held the milk tea and nodded after a long time observation to show Gu Yan that it was really decent.

“I am doing the same thing every day. Practice makes perfect.” Gu Yan shrugged and said. That she did it well was because of the daily hard work.

Manla kept turning the straw without continuing the topic. She looked straight at the table, as if she was thinking about something.

Gu Yan shook her hand in front of Manla. Then Manla settled back into her concentration.

“By the way, what are you thinking when I come here? At that time you look abstracted.”

“Am I? When?”

Gu Yan wanted to play the fool. However, Manla would never let her bluff it out.

“Don’t tell me that you are thinking of me.” Manla bit the straw and looked at her in a naughty look. Her eyes were like two small crescents.

Gu Yan froze, smiled and said, “Don’t be narcissistic. I am thinking that it may rain next week. Um… If it rains, I will have fewer customers.”

Obviously, Manla didn’t believe it. However, she knew her friend well and she didn’t keep asking. In the empty dessert shop, wind blew through the hall and brought coolness in. They looked out of the window silently, lost in thought.

After a long time, Manla finished the milk tea. Gu Yan hesitated and said slowly, “How is Xiangyan now? He is old enough to go to elementary school. He will become a straight A student…”

“Well, they have already found the best elementary school in City A for him.” Manla paused and decided to continue. She said, “With the strength of Mo’s family, the child of this family deserves the best education.”

“Gu Yan, now you don’t need to worry about anything. Just live your own life. Now you should worry about yourself!”

Gu Yan ignored her words and kept saying, “He is old enough to go to elementary school…”

Gu Yan nodded gently. She knew that what Manla said was true. She couldn’t stay around her son. What she could do was to hope that he would live a happy life.

There was a short silence again. Finally, Gu Yan spoke. She was not as gentle as before. Instead, she was a little cautious.

“Then… What about him?”

Manla certainly knew whom Gu Yan was talking about. Except for Mo Yichen, she could not find a second person who could make Gu Yan keep thinking about.

“He is the same as usual, working in the company.”

“Is he engaged to Chen Qian?” Gu Yan tried to stay calm. However, as soon as she spoke out the words, she became nervous. She was afraid of getting the answer from Manla. However, curiosity forced her to do so.

“What engagement? I don’t even hear about it from him. I think it is a lie that Chen Qian fabricated to cheat you. She and Mo Yichen are as same as before, without any changes.”

“Well.” Gu Yan responded. Her violently beating heart turned back to normal.

“What? Do you regret that you left Mo Yichen and came to this city to work alone? Do you find that he is actually quite good?”

“I think it is not too late to regret it. As long as you explain to him, there is still time.” Manla’s slightly sarcastic tone made her a little uncomfortable.

“Since I’ve said goodbye to those days, why do I need to go back? Actually now it is quite good. I am living my own life, relaxed and comfortable. There is nothing bad about it.” Gu Yan lowered her head and her voice while saying this.

It seemed that she said that to Manla, but actually to herself. She was reluctant, but there was no way to go back.

It was no use regretting. There were too many obstacles between them. In the past, Gu Yan always had the courage to face those hardships, but now she was tired.

After so long, she didn’t see any hope.
