Chapter 287: Banchajanna (Part 2)

A piece of tourmaline rock was in Banchajanna’s mouth, and on that piece of rock was the lightning dragon’s egg. His gigantic body was swimming in the water, loitering in front the lightning dragon’s nest.

In the face of such a massive spirit, Saleen could not help but feel a sense of beauty from the proportionality of Banchajanna’s body. The six bone arms which extended from Banchajanna’s back were about four meters in length, and each arm wielded a unique weapon. That ten-meter-long tail resembled a three-edged bone saw, with each segment of the tail having a three-sided razor sharp bone blade.

On Banchajanna’s head were a pair of sharp, upright bone horns. In addition, blue magic patterns were spread across his body.

Saleen recalled that the three kings had held onto objects which resembled scepters, but now, the scepter was not on any of the six arms at all.

“Master, the six weapons wielded by Banchajanna represent the six types of power from the death dimension.”

The winged skeleton knew what was going through Saleen’s mind, so he took the initiative and began explaining. Nailisi was upset. With the winged skeleton around, it seemed like she was of no use. As Nailisi stood behind the gigantic crystal and stared daggers at the winged skeleton, the thought of killing him surfaced in her mind once again.

Even so, it was very difficult to kill a spirit. At best, Nailisi would only banish the winged skeleton back to the death dimension. However, if Saleen managed to bring him back onto the human plane, then Nailisi’s doings would be exposed. Hence, Nailisi decided to put the idea of killing the winged skeleton on hold for the time being.

“The six powers of the death dimension?”

“Elemental magic is present in the death dimension too. However, the real powers controlling the death dimension are fear, pain, suffering, despair, loneliness, and nothingness. Banchajanna’s weapons reflect these powers. If a normal human being sees Banchajanna’s weapons, it is highly likely that they will lose their combat ability, and they might even die.”

“So scary?” Originally, Saleen had regarded the spirit kings as being similar to sorcerers. However, he now understood that the power of spirits and elemental magic were two different things.

“Master, if you ever engage in battle with Banchajanna in the future, don’t ever open your eyes during the fight.”

“Why?”

“Banchajanna is in control of these six powers. If you happen to look when his soul flames flicker, your emotions will be adversely affected, and you will have to battle those six powers every second henceforth.”

How would Saleen fight if he closed his eyes? Saleen thought of dozens of ideas, but none of them could be used to defeat Banchajanna.

“Why am I not affected now?”

“You are not Banchajanna’s target at the moment. He is a spirit king, so his control over his powers is identical to that of a grade-9 sorcerer.”

Saleen remained silent for a moment, before asking, “Spirits are restricted by the rules on this plane, but to what extent are the rules effective?”

“Master, Banchajanna and his companions used the summoning portal to access the Myers Mainland, so I am not too sure of the extent of the restrictions.”

Saleen pondered. He was not sure whether it was a boon or a bane keeping the three spirit kings by his side.

“Master…”

“Yes?”

“The lightning dragon has appeared!”

In that moment, Saleen snapped out of his thoughts. Looking into the distance, the lightning dragon could be seen swimming towards Banchajanna at lightning speed. Like the previous time, the lightning dragon still had silver skin that was filled with golden magic patterns. It opened its mouth and spit out a razor sharp ice arrow.

This ice arrow had a length of over two meters. This spell was obviously evolved, as it was not the usual level-2 magic.

With a sweep of the arm, the bone tomahawk in Banchajanna’s hand accurately struck the ice arrow, smashing the massive ice arrow into smithereens and sending white debris flying in all directions.

After realizing there was danger, the lightning dragon suddenly arched its body and swam in a circle, not continuing to lunge at Banchajanna. The blue electric current in between those golden magic patterns converged together.

The soul flames within Banchajanna’s eyes began flickering violently, as lightning could do substantial damage to spirits. Furthermore, lightning attacks could not be dodged. The six weapons in Banchajanna’s arms knocked against one another, and the impact from this action caused radiating ripples in the water.

Saleen’s alchemical boat was not spared either. This attack had no specific target, so the ripples with Banchajanna’s power fanned out in all directions. Saleen reacted very swiftly. He only received part of the impact before channeling his mental power into the Myers Goddess’ necklace.

The blue electric current on the surface of the dragon’s body shot outwards before converging into a thick electric dragon and then striking Banchajanna. Banchajanna began trembling furiously, and his soul flames flickered very violently. The temperature of the surrounding waters suddenly decreased by a huge magnitude, almost freezing into ice.

Following that, Banchajanna’s attack also accurately struck the lightning dragon.

Fear, pain, suffering, despair, loneliness, nothingness! These six powers from the death dimension were released in the form of ripples, and the lightning dragon had no way of avoiding those attacks.

The electric current on the surface of the lightning dragon’s body moved about randomly, giving out loud crackling sounds. The dragon had not come across a situation like this yet. Its own electric current had hit the enemy, while the enemy’s attack had also hit it at the same time.

As the lightning dragon stared at the egg which was in Banchajanna’s mouth, an irrepressible feeling of pain and despair overwhelmed it. Its fury caused its body to be contorted like a hemp rope as an even stronger electric current began to be produced.

After being hit by the lightning dragon’s attack, Banchajanna’s soul flames were weakened and wavering. He could barely move his arm. That feeling of oppression by Shanglan seemed to have returned. That man who controlled the power of lightning was going to enslave them eternally.

Om!

Banchajanna mustered all his strength and raised his six arms, and then knocked his weapons together once more. As the ripples carried the six powers through the water, the lightning dragon’s blue electric current hit Banchajanna again.

The speed of lightning was far faster than soundwaves, so Banchajanna was on the losing end. However, he did not want to give up. Since his arms could still move, Banchajanna repeatedly knocked his weapons together wildly, sending wave after wave of soundwaves outwards. In reality, the power hidden within the ripples was not soundwaves.

The silver skin on the lightning dragon’s body seemed like it was decaying, as its skin became increasingly grey over a short period of time. Those golden magic patterns also fell into a state of disorder.

In truth, Saleen had only wanted Banchajanna to act as bait, but Banchajanna had provoked the dragon and did not escape back to the river. If it was in the river, the dragon’s route of retreat simply needed to be cut off. By then, it would be useless no matter how strong the lightning dragon’s electric current was. Saleen would just have to be patient and use his puppets to drain the river, and the lightning dragon would be doomed.

However, at this moment, something had come over Banchajanna, and he was in a head-on conflict with the lightning dragon. At the end of the day, Banchajanna was on the human plane. He was restricted by the rules and also had an inborn weakness towards the power of lightning. He was in no way in an advantageous position in this battle. His six arms could no longer move and the six weapons had disappeared. There was only one arm now, and that arm was wielding onto the scepter.

Saleen’s mental power was only slightly damaged before he escaped into the Myers Goddess’ necklace. But this time around, the remaining impact from Banchajanna’s attack had caused Saleen to be rendered useless. Saleen suddenly felt that the things he were doing at the moment were meaningless.

So what if the lightning dragon is killed and the power of lightning can be obtained?

In order to become a mage and sorcerer, Saleen had endured so much hardship. He had to use the badge to train his mental power, and in return, his soul was tortured. What was the point of this even if he could live to one thousand years old? Ever since Saleen’s parents had passed on, when was the last time he had experienced a happy day?

How about just dying and giving up the power of a sorcerer and the one thousand years of longevity?

Saleen retracted his mental power out of the goddess’ necklace, and an empty gaze filled his eyes. Saleen tapped on the gourd at his waist, causing a six-meter long green water flow to fly out. The water flow revolved around his body, and this time around, the water flow took on the shape of a noose. This noose went around Saleen’s neck several times.

The violent trembles formed by the elemental granules in the water flow only needed to give a gentle twist and Saleen’s neck would be broken. After being affected by Banchajanna’s attack, Saleen had lost all his morale, and he now had the notion of ending his own life. This still happened despite the preparation and reminder from the winged skeleton.

“Master.”

“Master!”

The winged skeleton and Nailisi exclaimed at the same time, causing Saleen’s eyelids to jump. He took a glance at the winged skeleton and Nailisi, then said decadently, “Soldier, once I die, you will be free. You possess intelligence, and you can stay here. The boat will be yours, so you don’t have to return to the death dimension. Nailisi, come. Let’s leave together. You don’t have to endure punishment from the contract anymore.”

As Saleen spoke, a second water flow diverged from the green water flow and made its way towards Nailisi. Aboard this ship, the winged skeleton was sealed within the crystal, so it would not be affected by Banchajanna’s attack because the crystal had been made by Judikaka. As for Nailisi, her blood made her immune to the effects of Banchajanna’s attack.

The reason why demons struck fear into many living things was because of their strong vitality. Many powerful skills were ineffective against them. Many scholars had also said that demons had no souls. More accurately, demons did not have the negative emotions which humans had. Even if demons had possessed negative emotions, it was also very difficult for them to be influenced by their external surroundings.

Nailisi’s blood was pure demon’s blood, so she did not care about Banchajanna’s attack at all. However, Saleen could not disregard it. He was merely a grade-4 mage. In order to defend against such an attack, one would need to be familiar with the method of defense in advance, and Saleen was clueless in this aspect. Otherwise, Saleen would have only needed to analyze the principles of this attack in order to render the attack ineffective.

“Master…” A green water flow wound around Nailisi’s neck. This water flow was as flexible as Saleen’s arm, and was also like the long tongue of a magic beast. The water flow went around the crystal before trapping Nailisi. No matter how strong Nailisi’s body was, it would not be able to withstand the twisting from Saleen’s water flow.

The winged skeleton was helpless while Nailisi was beyond petrified. No matter what she did, she would not be faster than this water flow. The magic patterns on the water flow were unusually beautiful as they swirled about, but beneath this beauty was imminent death. Nailisi’s face seemed strange and flirtatious under the illumination from the magic lamp inside the alchemical boat.

“Nailisi, haven’t you always wished for freedom? I will give this freedom to you now.” As Saleen smiled, the water flow gently pulled Nailisi towards Saleen. Saleen raised his hand and caressed Nailisi’s hair, then said, “Don’t be afraid. It will only hurt for a moment, then we will die together.”

“Banchajanna!” The winged skeleton bellowed. Banchajanna had known that the alchemical boat was behind him, yet he had not controlled the direction of his attacks. He had allowed his attacks to spread in all directions. Now, the winged skeleton was not afraid of any superior being. He was solely fixated on killing Banchajanna.
