Chapter 217: Pan’s Turtle Shell (Part 2)

There were magic patterns grown naturally on the giant turtle’s shell, and they were layered and giving off a dark green color. The shell along its belly had six thick magic patterns that split the shell around the belly into six parts. Nailisi’s eyes could look past the meaning of these magic patterns. They were a ground-type magic as strong as Pan’s rock.

Nailisi grasped the Dragon’s Tooth Dagger in her hands. There were not many things that could not be pierced through by this dagger. However, the turtle’s shell was almost three meters thick, and even a heavy sword might not have been able to cleanly pierce through it. Moreover, the magic patterns on the turtle shell provided incredible defensive power, and any means that Nailisi had used in the past would no longer be effective.

The thick tail of the giant turtle was covered in armor and it almost seemed to be a metal body part, possibly even tougher than the outer armor of a fully constructed puppet.

Its tail was facing downwards and was blocking the weak point of its body. The giant turtle lifted its head and the reflective scales on its neck scrunched up, making a loud metallic noise. Nailisi saw that between the giant turtle’s neck and its shell, there were many magic symbols. They had been formed naturally, and only when the giant turtle scrunched its head within its shell would these magic symbols be activated, releasing the powers of the ground-type magic and completely sealing the turtle’s shell.

If she missed on her first try, even if the giant turtle did not retaliate, so long as it retracted its head and sank into the sea, Nailisi would not be able to do anything.

The pressure deep in the sea would be too strong, and Nailisi’s body was definitely not as tough as the turtle’s shell.

This was tough. Even above the turtle’s eyes was a layer of transparent skin. This skin seemed even tougher than the skin of the tiago. Nailisi was not confident she would be able to pierce through.

Just as she was contemplating how she could get closer, from the surface of the distant sea, a giant arrow flew over. The sound it produced was almost like a fire-type spell that had lost control, and there were a series of explosions above the surface of the sea which created large waves.

With a loud boom, the arrow which was as thick as an arm impaled itself into the turtle’s skull. The sharp arrow was horrifyingly heavy. Nailisi kicked with her legs as she approached the back of the giant turtle. She saw dozens of spots of light in the distant sea which were rapidly approaching. They were humans dressed in shark skin.

The giant arrow had not pierced through the turtle’s skull and had only left a shallow mark on its head. However, the incredible impact had left its head twisted.

Ang… ang…

The giant turtle started making strange noises. It was the first time Nailisi had seen a creature like this making noise. Luckily, she had made her way behind it, or else she would have been exposed.

The lights approached, and the surfaces of these bodies were glowing. They had put on giant flippers and the shark skins covering their bodies were filled entirely with magic patterns. When they swam, they were several times faster than a boat.

These people each had a long metal spear in their hands, and the tip of each spear was an unusual triangle shape without any grooves on it, but there was a small hole on every slanted side.

The giant turtle angrily spat out a ball of yellow gas and the five people in front were instantly enveloped in the gas, their bodies immediately turning into stone. A few water arrows emerged from the giant turtle’s nostrils. They were a few times thicker than the arrow that had struck it, and the water arrows quickly came apart in midair, forming a giant water net and trapping the rest.

The others did not seem to be affected by the deaths of their comrades and they twisted their bodies as two of them escaped from the water net. The metal spears in their hands spun rapidly as they released them, straight towards the giant turtle’s eyes.

The giant turtle had four eyes, and before its transparent eyelids could close, the spears had pierced through its eyeballs.

Fresh blood spewed out from the back ends of the spear. This was magic equipment meant for killing large prey. The hole at the tip of each spear produced a massive suction that immediately sucked clean any liquid within the eye sockets of the giant turtle. The triangular spear tip was nested within the skull and its eyeballs were crushed. Fresh blood ceaselessly flowed from its eyes, and the scene looked incredibly horrifying.

Having struck the turtle with just one shot, the two other men dressed in shark skins escaped the water net and could not have cared less about their comrades that were being strangled to death beneath the net. They swam swiftly in the water, and in less than a few seconds, came beside the neck of the giant turtle. They pulled out their spears and rapidly pierced them within the two ligaments beneath the turtle’s neck.

The ligaments were very thin, and yet they had the same effects as the fin of a fish, having no blood and flesh within. However, once the spears pierced through it, the giant turtle could no longer retract its head.

Watching from afar, Saleen was even more nervous than Nailisi. He said softly to Lex, “Damn it. Why would anyone be hunting for a magic beast in the middle of the night?”

“What’s there to worry about? We’re saved!” Lex wanted to fly up in excitement.

Saleen held her back and dragged her down with all his might. He had no idea how to explain it to Lex, but in this situation, Nailisi would definitely kill the people who were hunting the giant turtle as well.

Saleen had been spot on with his guess. Once these people in shark skins had appeared, Nailisi had taken them for her prey. The giant turtle’s head was injured and it could no longer retract itself back into its shell. The four survivors had swum away and were waiting for their boat to approach before dealing with this beast using their powerful weapons.

They had a well thought plan. Nailisi stuck to the giant turtle’s belly, quickly feeling for the injured eye socket of the turtle. With a gentle stab from the dagger, she delivered the poison into the turtle’s body. She then stepped up onto the turtle’s body, and her body instantly extended, a green magic pattern appearing on her skin. The tail that she had concealed was revealed as well, and faster than an arrow, she chased after the four survivors.

The four them had not expected that anyone would be around the giant turtle, and when Nailisi appeared before them, they were stunned. Their weapons were still on the turtle’s body, and by the time they realized that something was amiss, Nailisi’s dagger had already slashed open their special water armor.

The dagger slashed opened their sharks skin almost as though it were cutting through soft butter. Before the four of them could make use of the special water properties and get away from this woman who had appeared from nowhere, the poison on the dagger and its freezing effects had already activated and a tough layer of ice appeared on surface of their bodies, causing them to sink down into the water.

Nailisi smiled and returned to her normal form. The chill from her dagger burst outwards and dissipated the poison on its surface, and then it turned back into a ring which she put back on.

“Why does Nailisi need to kill them?”

Lex listened to Saleen’s explanation, a little shocked.

Saleen thought to himself, This is just how demons are. How should I tell you? He jumped into the water and a layer of vapor surrounded the water shield on the surface of his body. The vapor rolled around in the sea and Saleen kicked his legs. Using the power of magic, he brought the dozens of wooden boxes closer to the giant turtle.

The giant turtle had gone numb from the poison and would not die for a while. Saleen was well aware that the arrow that had shot the turtle had not been released by a human, and in the darkness of the night, a long, narrow boat approached the giant turtle. With Saleen’s strength alone, he was unable to get the boxes to keep moving and gave up on them. With his water shield sticking even tighter to his body, almost like a fish, he swam straight for the waves.

Nailisi was his bound creature and he needed to clean up any messes she made. Moreover, Nailisi was not a magic beast, and like a human, she was intelligent. Saleen had already gotten used to having such a demon by his side and calling him master.

“Sika, take care of Daniel. No matter who comes close, do not interact with them, just take action.” Lex knew Sika was not good at interaction, and in her moment of anxiety, she was only able to say something like that. She released a Flying spell and flew towards the giant turtle.

Just as she had flown halfway there, Lex realized what type of giant turtle this was. It was a grade-7 magic beast, but it was docile and kept itself alive with its overwhelming defensive abilities.

Pan’s turtles could live for an incredibly long time, and before they died, they could surpass grade-9 and were one of the longest living creatures in the sea. This pan’s turtle had just matured and it was the first time it had met any humans, having had no idea how scary humans were. It had spent a long time floating on the surface of the sea to breathe and had been easily spotted by many hunting ships.

There were missions to kill pan’s turtles in Alchemy City as well, and they all took place at night. Pan’s turtles did not float up during the day, and once they took a breath, they were able to stay underwater for many days.

The shell of a pan’s turtle was perfect for making combat armor and it was more valuable in this area than a giant dragon. Although the scales of the giant dragon were tough, they were hard to process and were not suitable for warriors to put on, being more suitable for creating equipment for mages.

Someone was hunting for pan’s turtle here. They were definitely not from Alchemy City, so there must have been an island nearby. Lex was both happy and upset at the same time. It seemed that Saleen had been right and Nailisi had killed someone. She looked down from above and saw Nailisi hiding behind the back of the turtle, looking at the approaching boat from afar.

There were four spears coming out from the turtle’s skull and they had not been fatal. In the current moment, it was exhaling more than inhaling and was floating on the surface of the sea. It could not even sink and must have been poisoned by Nailisi.

What about the owners of the spears?

The stench of blood coming from the sea was strong, and if it had not been for the fact that the scent of the turtle was overpowering, sharks would have come along in search of prey by now.

Saleen approached the turtle quickly and was in awe at the patterns on its shell. Climbing up onto its back, he laid beside Nailisi.

“Who said you could kill them?” Saleen could feel joy and excitement within Nailisi’s soul. That had been a hunt. Her thirst for blood was overpowering and could not be controlled.

“No one knew it was me.” Nailisi twisted her body and laid beside Saleen. He took out some clothes and forced her to put them on before passing her two bracelets to her.

“You’re sure no one knows?”

“Yes Master. More than ten of them died at the beginning and they were killed by this giant creature. I only killed four of them.”

Before she could finish, the boat had already come near the turtle. It had equipment similar to the watchtower of a city gate, and there was an alchemy crossbow inside of it. Saleen felt danger emanating from it. This crossbow must have had an aiming device on it. If he was not careful, a crossbow like this could lock onto him from a few miles away.

The giant alchemy crossbow was meant for attacking cities. If it could accurately lock onto a mage, even if the mage had a shell as tough as the pan’s turtle, they would not have bones as tough as it.

Where is this boat from? It cannot be from Alchemy City. This is already out of Alchemy City’s range. It cannot be from Cloudflow either. The combat vessels from Cloudflow have armor all over them. This boat has been carved out entirely from wood. Where in the world would one find such a big tree?
