Chapter 94: Discovery of the Basement

Everyone relieved themselves.

Yang Shao stood in front of the big mirror. Being the narcissist he was, he began to flirt with his own reflection.

They had spent too many days without electricity. The group was almost unwilling to leave this place, even if it was just a bathroom.

Wang Gang could not figure anything out at all.

“Someone must have cleaned up this place. There’s no way it would be so hygienic after such a long time. Moreover, I’m guessing that these bathrooms have been cleaned today. This means that there are probably people here.”

“How did you deduce that?” Yang Shao asked curiously.

Wang Gang was unwilling to explain any further.

“Use your own brain.”

Upon hearing that, a disdainful expression appeared on Yang Shao’s face. He went back into the men’s bathroom and fiddled with the cleaning supplies inside.

Everything was so neat and tidy. It really made him uncomfortable!

All of a sudden, a sound could be heard. It caught Yang Shao’s attention. He squatted down and lifted the mop. There were a bunch of keys on the ground. In total, there were five keys attached to the key ring. Two marked “basement” while the other three marked “door”, “men’s washroom” and “women’s washroom”.

Yang Shao picked up the keys and walked outside. He saw that Gu Jin was doing some light exercises with Wang Gang.

“There’s a basement here. Do you want to go and have a look? Maybe it’ll be a suitable place for us to spend the night.”

Gu Jin was surprised.

“You mean there’s a room where we can rest down there?”

“It’s very likely.”

Yang Shao was not too sure.

Li Ran asked in confusion, “Are you sure there’s a basement here? I don’t see an entrance heading downwards.”

“Who would build a basement in the bathroom? I think it’s located somewhere near the supermarket,” said Yang Shao as he shook the keys.

They went to look for the basement.

Yang Shao was right. Once they entered the supermarket using the back door, they found two other doors, one in front and one on the right. They lead to the basements. The door on the right was opened. Inside was a storage room filled with all kinds of things.

It was similar to the bathroom in terms of cleanliness. Everything in the room was also arranged neatly.

Zhao Ying had a bad feeling about this. She hesitated for a moment and said, “Could there be people in the basement?”

“What are you afraid of? We’ll likely outnumber them. Who knows, they might let us stay here for a while. There doesn’t seem to be any zombies around either,” said Gu Jin as he patted Zhao Ying’s shoulder. He was trying to comfort her.

Gu Jin seemed to be fond of the place, mostly because it was spacious and he could lie his whole body down. Being crammed in the car had exhausted him physically and mentally.

Wang Gang headed to the basement. The lights were dim but it was enough for him to see where he was going.

Halfway down the stairs, a woman’s scream could be heard. Everyone stopped in their tracks. It sounded like she was begging for mercy. There was also the sound of a man’s heavy panting.

Zhao Ying instantly latched onto Gu Jin while he covered Gu Zhao’s ears.

They had no idea what was happening below.

Everyone was silent.

Wang Gang continued to walk down slowly. He had to take a look at what was going on.

However, Yang Shao begged to differ. He pulled Wang Gang’s arm and signaled for him to stop.

Suddenly, the woman let out another scream. This time, it was accompanied by gasps and sobs.
