Li Ran saw the two people approaching her car. She could not figure out who they were.
Neither of them moved. Li Ran had hidden a gun in the car and she was ready to defend herself.
The man walked in front of the car and greeted her through the windshield. His white teeth made his complexion look gray. Even so, he was a good-looking man.
Li Ran smiled and waved at him.
She had completely forgotten about the roadblock.
When the woman saw Li Ran, she let out a sigh of relief. Her worries completely disappeared.
If Li Ran had been a man, she and Gu Jin might not be able to handle any unforeseen events.
Gu Jin walked towards the door and knocked on the car’s window. Li Ran rolled down about one-third of the window.
He said eagerly, “Is this your car? It’s so cool! I’m really interested in cars but in our current situation, there was no way for me to buy one.”
Upon hearing that, Li Ran smiled bitterly and said, “So you set up a roadblock in the middle of the road to rob other people’s cars?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant. We are all human beings. How could we harm one of our own at a time like this? I had no choice. Quite a number of cars had passed by this place. We tried to stop them but to no avail.”
The woman added angrily, “That’s right. Those people are so cold-blooded. They just sped through and almost killed me!”
After saying that, she glared at Gu Jin.
Gu Jin scratched his head and said helplessly, “I underestimated how evil people can be. Luckily, I managed to pull you away. I saved your life, didn’t I?”
He rubbed the woman’s shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.
Li Ran understood that she had scared the woman. Otherwise, she would not have reacted so significantly. However, she needed to get going. She bluntly said, “I still have things to do. Later, you might…”
