Another Stupid Isekai

874 T.D.o.N.B: Maybe not so much of a mastermind

Three days later we landed in Japan. John convinced his father to lend us one of his private jets. At the airport, specially prepared cars took us straight to the house located in a rich neighborhood filled with beautiful residencies.

The long travel not only wasn’t that long for us, but also we weren’t really tired after thanks to our amazing bodies, so there was no problem with, after quick unpacking, going straight to do some shopping.

We kinda predicted this, so we circled out the time of arrival to be in the morning.

We visited Shibuya because John recommended it, and spent a few hours walking around from store to store. In his company, nobody had any problems letting us in even the most snobbish places where I wouldn’t be allowed to enter in my clothes.

It was so damn boring, that I could barely stand it. Well, the fact that I actually wanted to do something else was also a major factor. I found an excuse, then separated from the rest, promising to meet at the residency in the evening.

As soon as they lost the visuals of me, I turned into a crow and took off. There was no way to just look around and find the underground city, but I already knew that the local government was involved in this whole project, so I started there. It took me a moment to locate it, but I eventually did. Then I tried to find anything which could give me a clue about the place where I should move next.

I spent hours there, without any progress, which made me question why I even decided to come to this country in the first place. for some reason, I just wasn’t thinking about the fact that my family was with me, and had this idea of just flying around until I found what I was looking for. Never, even once, did I question this, but now I realized that I just got too excited.

I returned to the house, where in the large living room, on a big beige couch, with a black coffee table next to it, was sitting my wife, Leonel, and Daniel. He was all happy when he saw me. They had some drinks put there, but mostly they were engaged in a conversation.

I on the other hand was very surprised.

– Hi – I said trying to act like everything was great. – Didn’t expect you here.

– Yeah. A complete coincidence – he said, with, probably, an identical facial expression to mine.

– We were just talking about a good place to visit – Celestine pointed out.

– Whare is Tihana, John and Carmelita? – I asked her.

– They wanted to walk around the city some more – she explained to me.

– Oh… Ok… So… Daniel… What are you doing here? – I asked putting my mask on again.

– I was planning to visit the country again, and then I heard that you are going on a little trip, so I actually chased you to get along on that nice private jet you borrowed, but I was too slow. But – he chuckled. – Will actually agreed to lend me his. What a nice guy he is.

– Yeah. Ha ha – I chuckled too – What a nice guy.

– Where have you been? – Celestine asked suddenly butting into the awkward conversation.

– Just roamed around – I shrugged my shoulders. – Was looking for one of those giant robot statues they have here. I wanted to steal it.

Leonel laughed at my joke, while my wife rolled her eyes.

– Anyway… I had enough concrete for today, so I’m gonna go and relax a bit in the garden – I informed them, then left.

The idea was to pull Daniel away from the rest, so we could talk face-to-face without anybody eavesdropping.

The property had a big garden at the back surrounded by tall concrete fences, with some ponds of water, where colorful fishes were swimming. There were many paved paths leading to different parts of the garden, and a few actually crossed those ponds thanks to lovely wooden bridges.

I picked one of those, a bit away from the house to stand and look at the swimming creatures below. I made sure to be easy to spot.

Surprise, surprise! Fifteen minutes later, Daniel joined me.

– Coincidence, my ass – I said, not even looking at him.

– Family trip, my ass – he responded.

– Will send you – I stated the obvious.

– He did. He wants you to come back – he informed me.

– I’m on a family trip. Well… My family is on a family trip. I’m not gonna cancel it – I pointed out.

– That’s why I was actually sent to accompany you and make sure you won’t do anything stupid. But I’m not gonna do that – he added after a moment.

This made me look at him.

– We have a decent chance to do something here – he informed me. – Those idiots out there are so concerned about Luis Martinez disappearing, that nobody is going to even care about you or your family. They think Will is behind that, and are looking for a way to blame him for that publicly.

– Are you trying to tell me that you are actually willing to help me against Will’s wish? – I raised my eyebrows in a display of genuine surprise.

– I don’t work either for him or for you. I just do what’s right for the city. We have a bunch of saboteurs on our ship, so I want to eradicate them before they sink the boat. Blue is behind all of this, so we should cut the head of the beasts – he said.

– That was a lot of metaphors.

– Whatever – he shrugged his shoulders. – As long as you get my point, that is. I’ll find out where to look, so you can get him.

– Ok – I nogged, still surprised that the events took such a turn. – I’m in.

– Good. We will be in contact. I’ll let you know as soon as I have something, so for now enjoy your vacation – he informed me, then marched off.

I stayed a bit longer, looking at the fish all happy.
