Another Stupid Isekai

718 T.D.o.N.B: A Nice Trick

I kept looking at everybody while the noise coming from behind me got louder and louder. Proportionally the panic on everybody’s face also got bigger and bigger.

The fear got to them so badly, that I noticed Sonja opening her mouth to say something, but the words didn’t come out.

The goblins did, though. They stormed out of the cave screeching and screaming, with weapons over their heads, ready to attack, but the moment the sunlight making it through the three crowns hit them, they would turn into black smoke, leaving just the crystals behind.

During the first second, the view was shocking to my audience, but then they relaxed, noticing there was no danger.

– N-na-nice trick – Lenoard mumbled.

– Thank you – I said with the very same smirk I had from the beginning.

Then I winked at Celestine, causing her to smile too, and turned around to go into the cave. After a moment of hesitation, the crew began walking after me.

– D-don’t we need a torch or something? – asked Leonard.

– A flashlight? Does anybody have a flashlight? – asked Sonja.

I just created a few dozen firebirds, then made them fly under the ceiling of the cave, so they were able to see properly. I didn’t really need a light with the skillset in my possession.

– Tha-that’s quite handy – miss archer pointed out.

I had the feeling she was now regretting being so full of herself in front of me the first time we met.

– Relax guys – I said.

– S-shouldn’t we be picking the crystals? – asked Ethan.

To tell you the truth, since I wasn’t taking them anyway, I kind of forgot, but there was no need to tell them that. I just summoned a few shadows behind their backs and made them go to collect the score. In no time the precious gems landed in my vault, and I was able to say:

– Relax. It’s already taken care of.

I bet they were confused by my words, and few seemed to look behind to check if something was happening there, but all they could see was darkness, with the single white point at the end, where the exit from the cave was located.

They didn’t ask further questions, and our travel continued.

We got to the lower floor, and then I said it was time for a break. We sat down, and people pulled a few snacks they had on them, while I just took out a whole ass lunch for me and Celestine out of my vault, surprising them once again.

– W-where did you hide that? – asked Ethan.

– Personal pocket space. I call it the vault – I explained, before stuffing my mouth with a massive sandwich.

I also caught a glimpse of Celestine, who had to fight with a smile. She was quite silent throughout the last few hours, but she seemed to enjoy me making the rest freak out over and over again.

I also kept an eye on Hesiodos. The guy who kept making moves on my woman. Right then, he was very, very quiet. Clearly wasn’t enjoying his time.

– Ok. Enough of this – said Leonard a moment of awkward silence later. – Who the hell you really are?

The question was directed toward me, but I wasn’t so keen on responding.

– We already saw how strong you are, with those weird skills of yours, and you also know mister William, which means you should be high up in the hierarchy of the city, but we never heard about you. Just tell us – he almost demanded.

For a brief moment, I stopped eating, to give him a smile, and then wink at him. That was all. I didn’t say a thing, just returned to the food, which caused Celestine to snort, almost choking on her lunch.

– He won’t say anything – Sonja pointed out.

But then her eyes traveled to John, who seemed to know me at least a little bit, so naturally, he would be the second person whom they would look at for some information.

He ignored them, so mystery kept on living, making those people frustrated out of their minds. I so much enjoyed that. Especially knowing that they were planning to make fun of Celestine, by bringing John to the table. They got to taste their own medicine.

I kept thinking about what I should do next. Flexing and keeping them on their toes was fun and everything, but the real goal of me being there was different. I was to assure that Hesiodos would fuck off from my girl.

So when the break was over, and e resumed our march, I just summoned my minions. Hundreds of shadows crawled from the ground in front of, us making the people gasp in surprise, and then charged ahead. The noise of battle reached our ears in no time.

Many questions were asked, but I ignored them all, summoning more from time to time, to assure there were enough of my soldiers out there, to slaughter every single goblin. They also were picking up the crystals.

Like that we arrived in front of the boss. I pushed the door open, and let my firebird in, to create even more light than what was provided by the natural layout of the last chamber.

The boss and his few guardians immediately reacted, focusing on me.

– Stay here – I instructed them, as I stepped inside.

Then, shadow walking a few times to close the distance to every guardian, I tore them to pieces with my bare hands and turned towards the boss himself. He attacked me, but I dodged with ease, piercing through his armor and chest, and ripping his heart out.

It was a brutal show, to paint a picture for Hesiodos, so he would know that there is no room to fuck with me.

The last goblin turned to smoke, and our hunt concluded. Nobody dared to say anything when we were done. They didn’t even ask me for crystals, but upon our arrival in the city center, I just dropped them all out of my vault.

– Give my share to Celestine – I said, and walked away.
