Chapter 77 - Elder Monk Tree!

Swoosh!

Eva's figure disappeared from where she transformed and instantly arrived at the side of the Mad-Lust Rabbit.

Boom!

Without wasting any more time, she instantly hit the ribs of the Mad-Lust Rabbit causing it to squeak in pain as its body rose from the ground a little. The Mad-Lust Rabbit's humongous size didn't matter for Eva as she could easily lift it without problem.

Eva didn't stop there and before the Beasts could recover from the pain on its ribs, she immediately used the [Skill] Bite and instantly tore off a portion of the Rabbit's meat on its stomach.

Ban had already recovered from his stupor and seeing Eva fighting the Mad-Lust Rabbit easily, he could not help but feel that he wasn't needed anymore. However, he did not get ahead of himself as he also joined again on the fact.

He prepared and raised his cautiousness again this time. Although he was not wounded due to the Ant Mask's protection, the attack still hurt his neck due to the force that came along with it.

Ban doesn't have any offensive skill so he could only utilize his Twin Baton to fight the Mad-Lust Rabbit. It was fortunate that of all of the weapons, he managed to obtain a Baton as he was most familiar with it.

With their teamwork, Ban and Eva managed to slay the Mad-Lust Rabbit after a few minutes without them going all out. Although its rage skill was powerful, it still could not beat Eva's Combat Form, paired with Ban's familiarity with the Baton.

Seeing that, Ban did not waste any time as he immediately took action by extracting all the sellable parts of the Beasts. He then stored them one by one inside his Dimensional Storage as he and Eva finally went towards the last checkpoint. He plans to sell them to Joana later for some extra Gold Coins.

The bridge was still durable so Ban and Eva did not encounter any problem while passing it. Although Ban admitted that he felt scared the moment he looked down as he did not expect that the cliff was that high. He could even barely see the bottom of it.

After a few minutes, they finally arrived at the last checkpoint. It was wide downslope land that appears to be barren of any kind of plants or trees. There were also huge spikes that pointed downwards being lined up neatly as if it was placed there purposely.

Ban finished observing and immediately descended down the slope to go to the area where the Elder Monk Tree was located. There was a Beast lying under the shade of a spike but Ban chose to ignore it so that he could save time. It was already nearing noon and he still needed to go to Joana after he was done with this Quest.

Ban followed the map closely and after more than thirty minutes, he finally arrived at the area indicated by the map. In front of him, there were humongous trees with trunks as big as houses.

They were also lined up carefully, as if someone had planted them before.

Every tree has the same appearance, thick trunk and two branches that intertwined together as if they were praying. However, Ban also noticed that some of the tree's no longer have branches and only the leaves that directly sprouted on the main trunk were left.

Ban already knew of the Elder Monk Tree's appearance as he already let the System inject the knowledge about it directly into his brain. He was also not surprised about the missing branches as he thought that someone might have gotten here before to harvest some. And by that, he immediately thought about grandpa Kuys first.

According to the Book of Techniques, the Elder Monk Tree will be able to grow back another branch just after a month of it being harvested. Seeing that some of the tree's don't even have two branches left, Ban could tell that they were only harvested not too long ago.

He needs to harvest a total of 30 Branches and if he wants to earn more, he also needs to harvest more.

Ban did not waste anymore time as he went towards the first tree that still had branches intact in it. Unlike the previous person that harvested the Elder Monk Tree's branches, Ban knew the proper way of harvesting in order not to damage the tree itself.

Only one branch every Elder Monk Tree!

Every branch of the Elder Monk Tree has different ages. The proper way to harvest it was to harvest the oldest and leave the young one behind. By doing this, the tree would not be upset and it would continue to produce good branches in the future. For example, Ban noticed that the trunk of one of the Elder Monk Trees had already started to rot, while its leaves had already started to turn yellow. Ban felt pity towards it and decided to help it later as a payment for harvesting some branches.

Ban climbed on one of the healthy Elder Monk Trees to start harvesting one of its branches. When he arrived at the branches, Ban inspected it for a second before he chose the branch at the left. He chose it as it was the oldest of the two branches, according to the knowledge he gained from the Book of Techniques.

The previous person who harvested the branches used the most brute method, snapping the branches forcefully from their trunk. The Elder Monk Tree's only grew their branches on the same spot over and over again, and by using this method,it could also harm the tree and even the future branch that will grow there would not be of the best quality.

Ban could only shake his head as he proceeded to harvest his first branch of the day with the correct method that he obtained from the Book of Techniques.
