Chapter 201 - Throne Challenge

"There's a throne challenger?" Ban muttered with a surprised expression.

The Enraged Crocodile as well as the Mild Tempered Crocodile came from the same tribe of crocodile Beasts called, Sentiment Crocodiles. They are the kind of crocodiles that live in groups, and depending on the 'emotion' they have, the stronger they are compared to others.

There were Happy Crocodiles, Lonely Crocodiles, Lustful Crocodiles and so on.

The Enraged Crocodile, which was the upper evolution of the Mild Tempered Crocodiles, was naturally stronger than the latter.

In one particular group of Sentiment Crocodiles, there should only be one Enraged Crocodile to rule them all.

However, that doesn't mean that there were no Mild Tempered Crocodiles who wanted to ascend to become an Enraged Crocodile. The problem was not on how to evolve, but whether they could evolve successfully.

As the ruler of the group, the present Enraged Crocodile would naturally not let anyone other than it possess the same 'emotion' on their name.

When a Mild Tempered Crocodile wanted to evolve into an Enraged Crocodile successfully, it could only challenge the current ruler to a fair duel first, or else the current Enraged Crocodile would just kill it on the spot the moment it attempts to evolve.

This was the so-called Throne Challenge.

It was not very often that Beasts evolved, so this so-called Throne Challenge would naturally not occur much often.

Hence, Ban was very surprised that he luckily chanced upon it now.

During this Throne Challenge, the challenger and current Enraged Crocodile will fight to death. Of course, as the Enraged Crocodile was naturally stronger than the Mild Tempered Crocodile, it will be restricted during the duel to make it a fair fight.

If the challenger wins, it could become the next ruler, and if it fails, the current leader can strengthen it's status and as a winner, it would also get rewards, for example, the Beast Core of the Mild Tempered crocodile that wants to evolve.

This was also the other reason why Ban became elated. It was because he now had a chance to obtain two Beast Core in the same place.

It must be noted that after the challenger and the ruler finished their duel, at least one of them would die while the other one would be severely injured.

At this time, the other Mild Tempered Crocodile would not attack the winner, and would instead fawn upon it. It was because unless they are ready to evolve, they would not try to harm their kind.

Ban was still trying to come up with a strategy earlier on how to separate the ruler, the Enraged Crocodile from the rest, but now an opportunity was directly presented in front of him.

All he needed to do was to be patient and strike at the right moment to obtain the rewards that were supposed to be for the winner of the Throne Challenge.

Ban stared at the crocodiles intensely, not daring to miss even a single scene.

At this time, all the crocodiles, except the ruler, have already returned to the muddy water. They swam around the ruler who was atop the huge root of that huge tree.

The root was very wide, it could at least fit a dozen or so crocodiles at best. It was the perfect place for the throne challenge.

After swimming around the ruler excitedly for a few minutes, the Mild Tempered Crocodiles finally calmed down.

Their swimming became graceful, their tail swayed very slowly on the water, as if they were trying to calm down the waters that they disturbed earlier.

A moment later, a crocodile head, only a little smaller than the current ruler, appeared at the edge of the root.

It looked around with a fierce expression, as it slowly climbed to the wide root.

As it climbed, it cautiously glared at the surrounding crocodiles and even more so the current ruler, who was still calmly watching the challenger at the moment.

The challenger was now in a state of panic and was now very alert. It could no longer suppress the innate desire to evolve, and in a day or two, it's evolution process would immediately start forcefully. This time, forget about the current ruler, even the other Mild Tempered Crocodiles would try to kill it.

It thought that today would be the perfect time to issue the duel, as it didn't know if it could still fight properly if it issued the Throne Challenge or the duel tomorrow or the day after that.

It also just happened that the ruler was injured from the hunt earlier, hence its confidence was greatly boosted.

Naturally, after careful observation, Ban also noticed the injury at the back of the ruler, or the Enraged Crocodile.

Seeing the fresh blood that dripped down from it, Ban guessed that it was injured not long ago. He also deduced that the reason why the Mild Tempered Crocodile dared to issue the throne challenge this time was mainly due to the injury of the Enraged Crocodile.

The Challenger crocodile has already gone in front of the Enraged Crocodile at the moment.

Roar!

It arrogantly roared in front of its face, as it now officially issued the Throne Challenge event.

Hearing that roar, the Enraged Crocodile, that always looked enraged, took action first.

It bolted towards the challenger and swiped down with its terrifying claws towards the challenger.

As it was a Throne Challenge, the two crocodiles would not be able to use any skills, and would only need to rely on their physiques to fight and kill their opponent.

The challenger was surprised by the sudden attack but immediately evaded by stepping backwards.

Boom!

The root where the challenger stood earlier was now laden with few claw marks. It must be noted that the root was very hard, and for it to get scratched just means that the attack from the Enraged Crocodile was so strong that if it hit the Mild Tempered Crocodile, it's skin would immediately be torn.

After all, even if it was restricted and was injured, it was still ultimately a Lord Grade Beast in the end.

Realizing the severity of the situation, the challenger no longer dared to be arrogant in front of the ruler as it struck back with great force.
