Absolute Resonance

Chapter 1113: White Fog

Chapter 1113: White Fog

The three huge Greater Evil Spirits stood in front of the Devil Heart Pillar menacingly as the "evil" character on their heads wriggled and took the shape of sneers as they stared at Li Luo and the others.

Even Feng Lingyuan's eyes grew dark when faced with three Greater Evil Spirits, because it meant that they would be facing three Greater Heavenly Disaster-class Others, all at the Greater Heavenly Resonance Tier.

With Feng Lingyuan's strength, three Greater Evil Spirits would not be able to stop her if she truly wanted to leave, but the current situation was way too unexpected.

Based on Feng Lingyuan's past experiences, a B-class mission could not be considered difficult by any stretch of imagination. The appearance of a single Greater Evil Spirit was already surprising, but there were three! Feng Lingyuan would've rated this mission as A-class with those three alone. However, the cruel reality was right before their eyes, so there was no way that they could suspend their belief.

"The situation is not right. There is too much deviation from the college's intelligence report," Feng Lingyuan said coldly.

Deng Changbai also frowned deeply. It was naturally impossible for the academy to intentionally trap them with fake information, and if it wasn't the academy that had planned this situation, then it could only be... the work of the All-Beings Devil King.

The All-Beings Devil King was definitely aware of the college's intention to send students into the Fifth Minor Earthly Branch Realm to destroy the Devil Heart Pillars, so it wouldn't just sit back and watch them successfully complete the sabotage plan. It would obviously devise countermeasures.

Then the appearance of the three Greater Evil Spirits was most likely one of the countermeasures that the All-Beings Devil King had put in place.

It had turned what most students thought was a practice field to cultivate and train in into a murder arena where only the strongest would survive. It was hard to imagine how many casualties and how much chaos this would wreak amongst lesser teams if they were to encounter the same situation in other areas. Thinking about this scenario, the faces of everyone present all turned sour.

However, the three Greater Evil Spirits did not give them more time to ponder. An opening slowly emerged on each of their twisted and cracked faces right then.

Whoosh!

In the next instant, an extremely dense, white fog erupted from the openings accompanied by countless mournful screams. In just a few breaths, the entire town was completely veiled.

Li Luo and the others immediately activated their resonant power to resist the sinister cold aura that the white fog emitted.

Li Luo examined the white fog closely, vaguely making out what seemed to be countless dust-like particles floating within. A drop of cold sweat emerged from his brow when he realized that the white fog was made of minute fragments of Other skin.

The white fog was extremely insidious and seemed to dull everyone's five senses, causing the group's vision and awareness to be greatly reduced.

"You guys stay where you are and protect each other as a group!"

Feng Lingyuan's icy voice rang out and in the next instant, her majestic but terrifying resonant power erupting like a volcano. Li Luo and the others could just barely make out the silhouette of a Greater Evil Spirit through the thick fog.

At the same time, a battle broke out at Deng Changbai's position. He was obviously also in combat against a Greater Evil Spirit.

Li Luo gripped the Dragon Elephant Blade tightly as he softly whispered, "Senior Feng and Deng Changbai are each taking on a Greater Evil Spirit, so what about the last one?"

The color drained from Zong Sha, Jiang Wanyu, and the rest's faces. The Greater Evil Spirits were unpredictable and treacherous. With the white fog dulling the senses of the group and Feng Lingyuan and Deng Changbai being temporarily occupied, it was the perfect opportunity to strike at the rest of them.

In a flash, the group immediately tightened into a circle with Lu Ming, Jing Taixu, and the other slightly weaker members huddled in the center.

Their gazes wildly scanned the all-encompassing fog around them for any signs of the last Greater Evil Spirit, which was undoubtedly biding its time hidden within the fog, maliciously spying on their shaken composure.

The unnerving feeling grew stronger and stronger.

The suffocating sense of oppression caused the group to be on edge. Even an Illusory Seal-grade cultivator such as Zong Sha was dripping with cold sweat from the dark uncertainty.

Li Luo's eyes quivered as he stared at the fog around him. He realized that the dense fog had begun to wear away at the effectiveness of the defensive layer of resonant power of the group.

As he glanced at the rest of the group, even Zong Sha, whose strength had reached the Illusory Seal-grade, was covered in cold sweat, fear surfacing in his eyes.

After all, an unseen Greater Evil Spirit spying on them from the shadows was an extremely terrifying prospect.

Li Luo understood that the Greater Evil Spirit was deliberately creating the conditions to breed such fear because it could feed on the negative emotions and boost its own power.

If the current situation remained unchanged, the fog would eventually erode their resonant power defenses completely. If the Greater Evil Spirit struck then, there would definitely be casualties on their side.

Li Luo was silent for a few moments before he took a deep breath and swiftly executed a seal with both hands.

As his fingers moved to complete the seal, his domineering resonant power rose up to the sky, constructing a sword formation above their heads.

It was the Myriad Resonances Dragon Fang Sword Formation.

Two Dragon Fang Swords were flying erratically in the sword formation, constantly gulping sword light.

With the appearance of the sword formation, a terrifying amount of sword qi piercing through much of the white fog filling the area, slightly increasing the visibility.

The sword formation did not launch any attacks; it merely hovered above the heads of the group.

Zong Sha and Jiang Wanyu immediately relaxed a little. The level of Li Luo's sword formation Duke Art was rather high, hence it naturally exuded an indescribably dangerous aura while it was activated.

However, Li Luo did not intend to use the Dragon Fang Swords of the sword formation to dispatch the Greater Evil Spirit, as that was obviously not very realistic. Instead, he had activated the formation as a deterrent. This was undoubtedly a bluff that would not be very effective in actually dealing with the Greater Evil Spirit.

The arcane sword formation rotated slowly, flowing with thick sword qi.

Lu Ming stood behind Li Luo, stretching out her palm that was engraved with the Ancient Spirit Leaf. The resonant power within her body began to rapidly flow out and, through the enhancement and transformation of the Ancient Spirit Leaf, surged into Li Luo's body, replenishing his quickly depleting resonant power.

Time passed quietly.

About ten seconds later, Zong Sha, Jiang Wanyu, and the others' pupils suddenly shrunk as they saw a hideous face inscribed with the "evil" character slowly emerge from the dense fog in front of them.

It seemed to be staring at the sword formation, and its sharp bloody talons stretched out towards it, intending to test the strength of the formation.

Upon seeing this, the group immediately tensed up and clenched their teeth.

Fortunately, the Greater Evil Spirit retracted its claws a few moments later and quietly retreated back into the midst of the thick fog.

It was only when it was fully out of sight that the entire group could finally heave sighs of relief.

Still, Li Luo still did not retract the sword formation, choosing to maintain it lest the Greater Evil Spirit changed its mind and returned to kill them all.

But it wasn't long before some miserable screams rang out from the other direction.

They were from Deng Changbai's group!
