Xia Ling stroked her daughter’s hair and smiled. “Be good.”

Li Rui asked, “So… do you want me to follow you to the training camp?”

“Hmph, no.” She turned away in a tantrum.

Xia Ling stroked her hair again. “Be good, let your Second Brother accompany you.” It wasn’t just about letting him play it cool in front of the girls, but rather, with Wei Lingnan having his eyes on her, who was to say what could happen? They were more at ease knowing that Li Rui was with her.

Xia Yingluo understood this as well. After being held by her mother for a long while, she finally nodded reluctantly.

This time, Li Rui was the one making things difficult. “Who says I have to go with you just because you want me to? Let me hear you call me Second Bro.”

“Bad Second Bro.”

“Nope, not going with you.”

“… Nice Second Bro.” Xia Yingluo gave in.

Only then did Li Rui grin. “That’s a good girl.”

Wei Lingnan was just like a time bomb in everyone’s heart, causing panic and uneasiness.

Back in the Wei Family Biopharmaceutical Group underground base, the family members’ bungalow.

In the garden, Wei Lingnan looked coldly at Xia Moyan, who was dressed in a female outfit and sipping tea. “Who allowed you to wear her clothes?”

Xia Moyan calmly responded, “Shouldn’t you ask where she’s gone first?”

Wei Lingnan’s tone became even colder. “Need I ask? Since you’re here, you’ve definitely swapped her out. There must be something wrong with today’s guest-checking department.”

Xia Moyan said, “So you’re not stupid.”

Wei Lingnan shot him an unpleasant look. “You will pay for your doings.” He had been too careless as to underestimate the collaborative power of the Li’s and Xia’s. They actually managed to swap Xia Yingluo out in his territory. He was enraged. All the security officers on duty must be punished, but even that would not bring Xia Yingluo back—her family already knew what he was, they were sure to protect her well.

Xia Moyan wasn’t the least bit bothered by his threats. “I’ll be waiting for you here.”

“Waiting for me?”

“It’s been hundreds of years, and still the Xia family isn’t too sure about your history. All we know is that you didn’t come from this planet originally. Wei Lingnan, since you’ve laid your hands on my sister and gotten the Xia family involved in your plan, shouldn’t you be telling me a little more about yourself?”

Wei Lingnan sneered. “Why should I?”

“You need my help.” Xia Moyan was sure. “We found problems with Yingluo’s body after she’s been in contact with you, problems that current medical technology cannot explain. You, too, are unable to manage her problems on your own. Otherwise, these pains wouldn’t have acted up time and time again.”

Wei Lingnan narrowed his eyes a little. “You’re smart.”

Xia Moyan was as poker-faced as usual. “So, can you tell me now?” He actually had no idea whether Wei Lingnan needed his help, but there was a 50% chance. As it turned out, he was right. But he wasn’t sure if it was a fortune or misfortune.

Wei Lingnan turned around. “Come with me.”

Wearing the female outfit, Xia Moyan’s elegant strides made him look like a mature and refined lady. He followed Wei Lingnan through the family members’ zone and into an area of boundless darkness. That was when he saw a purple planet slowly emerge before him against the dark background; it appeared so mysterious.

This was the planet that Wei Lingnan had attempted to show Xia Yingluo, but she’d fallen unconscious.

“The Skatana planet,” Wei Lingnan told Xia Moyan. “This is my homeland, and Ah Luo’s as well.”

Xia Moyan followed him as they set foot on that planet. There were strange creatures all around, and faraway cries, as well as the smell of blood, traveled to them. Xia Moyan’s constantly poker face flinched a little.

“These are?” He pointed towards those weird creatures.

Wei Lingnan said, “The Skatana species, the original form of me and Ah Luo. Don’t ask me to transform before your eyes, it’s too much of a waste of energy. But I’ve transformed in front of Ah Luo before, you can always ask her when you get back if you don’t believe me.”

Xia Moyan didn’t think of not believing him.

At this stage, Wei Lingnan had no reason to lie to him.

As The Preceptor, he’d heard about Wei Lingnan’s existence from his father and elders since he was a child, and was inclined to believe in aliens and other beings. What worried him was how Xia Yingluo was involved in this. “By Ah Luo, you mean my niece, Xia Yingluo? How can she be of your species? She’s a human that Xiao Ling birthed after carrying her for nine whole months.”

“The Skatana planet has been destroyed…” Wei Lingnan said with a hint of sadness in his voice. “I reached out to grab her, but I only managed to grab a tiny bone fragment of hers, that tiny finger bone fragment was the last remaining part of her after she was liquefied at high temperatures. I wanted to revive her, so I brought it along with me as I floated around the universe for god knows how long, looking planet after planet for signs of life and energy changes… until I found this place, Earth.”

“Is there anything special about Earth?” Xia Moyan felt that the answer was coming.

“Of course, Earth is very special.” Wei Lingnan said, “I felt energy fluctuation that allowed for rebirth.”

“Energy fluctuation for rebirth?” Xia Moyan had never heard of something like this. He was attentive. “Tell me more about it.”

A flash of pride could be seen in Wei Lingnan’s eyes. “Among the countless planets in the universe that show signs of life, energy for rebirth is mysterious and rare. As the strongest species in the universe, I have explored various planets and got to hear of the different sayings about rebirth. That’s why I haven’t given up looking for it after tens of millions of years and managed to capture it the moment Earth released even the weakest form of that energy. The way that energy fluctuated was exactly like in the rumors, and I knew right away that this was it.”

“What do you mean by the way the energy fluctuated?” Xia Moyan asked.

Wei Lingnan looked at him. “Humans are a weak race. Even you, protector of your planet, are unable to sense it.”

Xia Moyan was unhappy. “Humans are a weak race? We have that rare form of energy you were talking about.”

Wei Lingnan sneered. “Maybe humans have their uniqueness and possibly limitless potential, but I have to say this—you people are fortunate that Earth lies in the far end of the universe, otherwise you’d have been destroyed by the intelligent civilizations a long time back.”

Xia Moyan frowned but did not rebuke.

It was a fact that they knew very little—or rather, nothing at all—about other civilizations in the universe.

And this situation didn’t seem very promising.

“Go on, when did you start sensing the energy for rebirth? When the Xia ancestors saw you for the first time hundreds of years back?”

“Yes,” Wei Lingnan said. “Back then, I’d just arrived on Earth after being guided by the energy fluctuations. That was when I knew that Ah Luo could be saved.” He broke into a distorted grin.
