If he weren’t, then Tan Mo would’ve been completely disappointed on one of the most important days in her life.
He could tell that the little girl was about to cry when she realized he wasn’t there.
The fireworks had already ended, and no one wanted to remain on the small balcony late into the night any longer.
They didn’t care that the balcony could not fit all the students in the rooms, but decided to find a way to make it work because the fireworks had been just too beautiful to miss out on.
Most of the students had already climbed back to their beds.

The girls discussed which patterns were their favorites and stuff like that, while the guys returned to their games, bringing up the topic from time to time.
One of the guys in a certain room suddenly asked, “Hey, do you think someone set the fireworks off for a love confession?”
“Seriously? Such an expensive fireworks show for a love confession? That would cost at least 300 to 400,000,” another guy replied, his attention completely diverted from his game to the conversation. “Do you think a university student has that kind of money lying around? Only like the super-rich have the money to do something like that.”
“You’re right. I mean, even though the fireworks was set off in our school, it’s still too much for a love confession to a university student. Who the h*ll would be that stupid to spend that much money?”
“There are like a million love confessions on campus every year,” another guy who was playing games on his phone on the bed said. “I’ve even seen people playing guitar outside the female dorm, and a guy dressed in a white bear costume to confess. Do you know what’s the craziest I’ve ever seen? Confessing with a loudspeaker outside the dorm! That was literally the most insane one I’ve ever seen. I don’t think anyone has ever set off fireworks just to confess his love for a woman.”
“Also, aren’t you supposed to have a message in the fireworks or something? Like a name or I love you kind of vibe,” another guy said. “I mean, you have to at least let the girl you’re confessing know, right? Or else, what’s the point if she doesn’t know the show was intended for her? Don’t tell me you’re spending close to half a million just to give the whole campus a free show. Are rich people idiots with a lot of money but nothing to do with it?”
“You’re right. That’s way too expensive for a simple love confession. I would’ve understood if it was a marriage proposal. Wait… No, it’s even too much for a marriage proposal.”
“Maybe the school is just testing the fireworks for an upcoming event or something?” someone guessed.
All of Tan Mo’s roommates had also been woken up by the fireworks.
Even though they had already returned to their beds, they weren’t tired anymore after witnessing such a spectacular fireworks show.
Only Tan Mo remained on the balcony as she had a feeling that Wei Zhiqian was nearby, and she trusted her gut a lot.
Her three roommates were now discussing the fireworks excitedly in the room.
Even Lin Fuxi was smiling like a little girl, which was a rare expression for her.
She couldn’t help but wonder what if someone gave her that fireworks show as a present like what she’d seen in romantic dramas. It would’ve been very romantic and she would feel like a princess.
The thought of it even made her feel like she was the female protagonist of a romantic drama.
“It’s just like a drama,” Lin Fuxi exclaimed while blushing.
“Tan Mo, why are you standing out there?” Jin Yuelin shouted at Tan Mo as she was worried about the little girl. “It’s cold out there. Come back in!”
Tan Mo still could not find the person she was looking for. Disappointed, she raised her head to look at the sky as if she wanted to find something up there.
Even after the firework had subsided, even after the sky had turned back to its original complete darkness where not even a cloud could be spotted, she could still see the fireworks lighting up the sky through her imagination.
Lin Fuxi noticed Tan Mo staring dumbfoundedly at the sky and mocked, “Tan Mo, don’t tell me you’re still immersed in the fireworks just now? Come back to reality, you silly girl! Do you really think that some rich guy did that for a love confession?”
Since everyone had been on the balcony a moment ago, they’d heard someone from another room talking about that possibility.

“You’re still a little kid for thinking about something so unrealistic! It’s just a stupid speculation and nothing more!” Lin Fuxi laughed at Tan Mo. It was as if she was looking down on the 18-year-old girl just because she was a few years older and thought she was the mature one.
However, she had completely forgotten the fact that she was also one of the people who was thinking about something unrealistic like it being a love confession when she saw the fireworks.
“Tan Mo, you shouldn’t dream about something like this,” Lin Fuxi continued. “These things only appear in dramas and dreams, and you better not believe in it. It will never ever happen in real life no matter how much you wish for it.”
“How do you know what Tan Mo’s thinking about it? What if she’s thinking about something else?” Meng Yuxi scolded her, unable to stand her roommate for dissing Tan Mo any longer. “Do you think that we didn’t notice you blushing like a 15-year-old when you watched the fireworks just now? Aren’t you the one’s that dreaming about the impossible?”
“W…what? I did not!” Lin Fuxi raised her voice after being sold out by her roommate.
Tan Mo had completely ignored what Lin Fuxi had just said.
That was how she had been treating anything Lin Fuxi had said ever since they’d gotten acquainted.
Lin Fuxi always had ill intentions toward Tan Mo and would always use any chance she got to laugh at Tan Mo.
If Tan Mo really listened to what Lin Fuxi said all the time, she would’ve had to live her life angrily every day.

Also, there was the fact that she was still on the phone with Wei Zhiqian.
Even though a lot of people were awake now, they were all already back in their rooms.
There was no one outside anymore, and the night was quiet.
The street under the dorm was faintly lit up by the yellow light from the street lamps.
Suddenly, Tan Mo noticed a shadow appear on the street, which was followed by the sound of expensive leather shoes.
Tan Mo was confused as she didn’t know if the click-clacking sound was coming from her earbuds or not.
She quickly took one of her earbuds out and could still hear the walking sound coming from below.
Before Tan Mo could even pinpoint which direction the sound was coming from, Wei Zhiqian walked out of the shadows with his phone in his hand.
Tan Mo’s room was on the second floor, and she would be able to move to the first floor in her senior year.
It was low enough so she could clearly see Wei Zhiqian’s face.
The face was looking at her with a gentle smile and expression.
The warm light just made the whole scene even more heartwarming.
Wei Zhiqian raised his phone and put it next to his ear.
