The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 8 - Unexpected Gains

Unconsciously, Lexi glanced at Ethan Lu who's the side of his lips was slightly curled upward. She didn't feel honored with that 0.1 allure points instead, she was disgusted!

Knowing Ethan Lu's playboy nature, Lexi shuddered just the thought of him taking a fancy of her. After all, even though she would shamelessly throw herself to Morris Liu, but, Lexi would only do that to her ex-fiancé.

When her gaze met Ethan Lu's, Lexi immediately turned her eyes away from him—horrified that he might get the wrong idea.

"Miss Yang, even if you keep kneeling, I won't change my mind." Despite that Morris Liu was a little taken aback by Lexi's action, his trust towards her was already non-existent and everything she says or does couldn't be taken seriously.

Lexi froze the instant Morris Liu spatted his affirmation. Yet, his hurtful words only solidified her determination to free her family from his clutches.

Still, on her knees, Lexi slightly hanged her head low as she murmured. "L-Tech..."

Though she just whispered her words, Morris Liu was able to hear her— loud and clear. Furrowing his brows, he sternly looked at Lexi but didn't utter a word.

"L-Tech Innovative Financing Company… If I can arrange a meeting with Mr. Tanaka, will that be enough?" Lexi slowly raised her head and stared back at Morris with eyes full of resolve.

Fortunately, before her suicide ordeal, Lexi overheard Morris Liu's conversation to one of his business partners about this certain company which piqued her interest because Morris Liu was trying to have a good relationship with the said company.

Given that Liu Empire is an established company and one of the leading clan next to the Han Corporation alas, having another international company on the Morris Liu's side would make the Liu Empire more formidable and could par with the Han family.

Morris Liu suspiciously squinted his eyes as he was puzzled about how Lexi knew about his interest in L-Tech Financing Company. After all, aside from the few trusted people, Morris Liu hadn't mentioned anything to anyone regarding this matter. Hence, how did she knew about this?

Yet, on the other note, Lexi's first career was in the business field before she entered the entertainment industry. Therefore, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Yang household also wanted to have a good connection with the said company.

"I don't need you for that." Still, Morris Liu remained adamant with his decision.

"CEO Liu, didn't you consider me even as a friend? Even just a tiny bit?" Since Morris Liu made his final decision, Lexi could not help but ask her innermost questions.

Morris: "..."

Taking his silence as his confirmation that he never had feelings for her, a bitter smile formed on her lips. "I see. I'm sorry for disturbing you, CEO Liu." With that said note, Lexi supported herself to get back on her feet.

The numb pain on her knees made her slightly wobbled— almost causing her to lose her balance. Fortunately, her will to run far away from him overpowered her weakened knees, giving her ahold of herself a bit more.

Lexi courteously bowed her head towards the icy man sitting on his executive chair. She then showed the same courtesy towards Ethan Lu on the side.

"I apologize for interrupting your meeting with CEO Liu, Mr. Lu. I'll be taking my leave." After saying her piece, Lexi wordlessly left the stifling office without a second delay, afraid that she might suffocate if she stayed for a second more.

After Lexi Yang vacated the minimalist designed office, a momentary silence engulfed the whole room.

"Well, she isn't as bad as others say." Ethan broke the uncomfortable atmosphere with his usual frolicsome tone.

"She's a good actress." Morris Liu cast him a cold glance as he relaxed his tensed shoulder and lean his back against the executive black leather chair.

"Yes, a good actress and has a good eye in terms of business affairs," Ethan added in a matter-of-factly tone.

Granting that Ethan Lu didn't personally know Lexi, he still heard Lexi Yang's contribution to the Yang family business. After all, businessmen like them are very much inclined about potential business partners and the Yang clan has their fair share in the economy of the industry.

[Inside Lexi's expensive car]

[ Ting! +1 allure points! You now have a total of 1.1 allure points! ]

"Wow~! That's not bad progress, chu~!" Churu's eyes beamed with thrill seeing an additional allure points on Lexi's dashboard -- causing the cute dumpling shortly forget about her displeasure earlier.

Lexi who was calming her peevish heart was mildly spooked by her unexpected gains. Earlier, on her way out, though Lexi looked unbothered while keeping her supercilious expression despite the odd glances from the employees and their indistinct whispers, she couldn't fully say that she was unaffected. However, now that she was inside her car, Lexi screamed in annoyance -- venting her repressed emotion.

As she let her frustrations, she was abruptly interrupted when the notify sound that rang inside her head before it displayed her score. "What is this?!" She sassed as Lexi found another outlet to release her emotions.

"That is your love points chu~! Forget that bastard and let's focus on your love love love chu~!" Still dancing in jubilation, Churu formed a heart shape using her white, little hands

Shifting her gaze at the shimmering small bun on the steering wheel, Lexi's brow could not help but twitch that made her roll her eyes. "Love points? Is that something I should be happy about? Will that fill my stomach?"
