The Mysterious Black Magician

Chapter 2 - The System Deity

Yman woke up early on Sunday morning because he believed with the saying, "the early birds that get a choice which, is more important than the worm itself".

He knew this well, that's why he got up early on that morning because the one who came early at the venue of the evaluation exam would be able to choose a better starting skill than the late comers. But for some twist of fate, he had been dragged in the alleyway and beaten up by five youths before he arrived at the venue.

Therefore, he was late and had no choice left but to get the worst starting skill among the rest, the self-healing magic.

He wasn't only got a starting skill, but also a System Deity along with it.

The System Deity was a round ball object as big as a golf ball. With designs of profound carvings and imprints. To activate the System Deity, the owner must feed it with his magical energy or mana to light up all the imprint on its body. Then it would spread automatically at the back of the owner's neck like a wristwatch. And after it was stuck on the owner's neck, they would follow up by whispering the word 'RESONANCE'.

.

System Deity was a super robotic AI(Artificial Intelligence) that boosted the mortal body. Even if the user was stabbed in the heart or head, they wouldn't die right away.

Or even if the health points reached zero, he wouldn't die but the resonance would be cancelled. The person would revert back to a normal person after their resonance was cancelled. Then, they couldn't use resonance for a month or depend on how long the person would be able to recover.

The most important thing to do when the user's body regressed back to a normal person was to hide quickly from danger. Or else, no more third life awaited for them.

After Yman whispered the word "resonance", a full display of window interface appeared on his vision.

The truth was, any magician that was in contract with the System Deity was able to summon their Window Interface even not in their resonance mode.

This window interface was also known as "Cyber Screen," Yman spoke softly.

It was followed by,

<Please register your account!> A lovely female voice tickled his ears, which followed by pop up notifications.

Since this was his first time, he chose the <Register> choices. System Deity was a super-intelligent device that could communicate to humans like a normal person.

<Successfully Registered!>

Yman's mouth leaked a smile. He was excited!

<Welcome Yman Talisman!>

<Enter Deity Nickname:_____>

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap!

<Enter Deity name: Sistela_>

<Ok> <Cancel>

He didn't even think twice as he chose this name. It probably had a deep reason behind it.

After he chose the <Ok> choices, a list of sections in his interface had appeared. He tapped on the Status section. *Bling!* A magical sound rang in his ears.

Followed by:

Currently, he only had strength and vitality to his Attributes. And the worst thing of all, he only had 1 point on both.

To increase his attributes, he needed to buy a special medicine or to train ardously.

To increase his level, he needed to pay using his gold points(There's a reason why they use gold points as basic currency in this era).

Once they leveled up, their attribute points would also increase. But the price of medicine to advance their level wasn't low. They needed 1,000 gold points per level of advancement.

However, the cost would increase depending on their level. Not just that, they must have a high CE(Combat Experience).

As of now, Yman has 100 gold points in his wallet section in the Cyber Wallet. These points were his allowance for a month. And his CE was 10/100.

For Yman, what he wanted the most was to learn a new skill. A combat skill, like fireball or wind blades.

There were several ways to get them.

The first and the most common way was to buy a skill book or ability scroll on the market or auction using the gold points.

The second way was to learn a skill through arduous training.

And then the third way was to kill the monster's elder. These elders usually brought a skill book with them, because mostly they couldn't use a spell without it.

If a person were lucky to kill one, they could take the skill book from it. Different skill books have different prices, but ordinary ones usually cost a thousand of gold points.

Well, there was also a free random skill when a magician upgraded their System Deity for the first time. Specifically, their deity could also learn a skill through upgrading.

And the last among the rest was to train some ancient or legendary techniques that were passed down by their ancestors.

However, learning these type of techniques were not an easy feat, they were only compatible with people gifted with an abundance of Mana or being the direct descendants of their clans.

Yman, at the moment, was currently fighting a toad. There were many kinds of toads. But today, Yman was fighting the weakest one, the Pale Toad.

He found out that it's not easy to level and earn points. Even though this toad was as big as a pig and moves slowly, his damage was one thing that made him want to vomit a mouthful of blood. It sucks!

Currently,

10/100 Health points left on the toad. But Yman also wasn't in good shape. His health points were 30 and almost depleted all his stamina. Every damage he took from the toad's tongue-whip, was minus 10 points to his health. His stamina at most 10% left.

'Shit! Looks like my stamina will be the first to empty. With my self-healing magic, I can heal myself as much as I want. But my stamina will be consumed every time I cast magic. Tsk! I need to kill atleast this one, before going home,' He thought.

He dashed forward again and about to swing his sword, but the toad flung its tongue towards his head. Yman ducked quickly.

*Swosh~!*

Sound of whipping an empty air had reached his ears. He swung rapidly his wooden sword to the toad's body. The toad was slow.

Zing! Zing!

5/100

Now the Pale Toad health points were left with 5 only. Yman had become more eager to kill it, but he needed to be careful too.

The toad was breathing deeply and clearly tired.

Yman took a step back; he needed great timing before rushing in to finish the toad. The toad slowly opened its mouth. Yman gazes in a full alert.

He noticed the tongue that came rushing towards him from its mouth. He smiled lightly and ducked quickly, but suddenly he felt a bad premonition and shifted from ducking to diving on his right in a quick motion.

Whossh!

*Bang!*

-20Hp

Ugh!

Yman was hit by a fireball that came from his back. Now his clothes were on fire. He dived quickly on the pond to stop the fire from spreading.

*Splash!*

"Haha oops! Did you guys see a frog jumping on the pond?" Asked by the young man to his entourage.

"Haha, I saw one! Shall we kill it too?" answered by another young man.

When Yman stood up, he saw 6 youth, 5 of them were the ones who ganged up on him this morning. The other one was no other than their leader and the cause of why he was late for this morning evaluation exam. The leader of the group was known as Kiko the hot-headed youth.

Yman shot a glare at them. Waters dripping from his body and his clothes were tattered.
