The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 36 - Caged Freedom

Neither shocked nor stunned but Jennifer was in a daze. Actions speak louder than words and it was rightly said in her case as well.

The fake smile she used to hide her cover, didn't work anymore because Javier already saw through her soul. More likely, he knew beforehand itself. What changed all of the sudden?

'He was alright in the morning. Flirting and smiling and now, his demeanor is entirely changed..' she was witnessing it for the very first time which totally made her puzzled.

He was standing too close to her body, where she already predicted that he could feel her heartbeat too easily.

No, there was some kind of hammer in her chest which was constantly hitting against her body. It was almost making her legs go weak, all of her courage just scrambled down into pieces.

"Javier, p..please say it clearly." With her last bit of confidence, she dared to ask. What if he was talking about something else, though her instincts, in contrast, told her that she was caught now.

Her cover was lifted off by him and she can only act as a clueless bird, even though both parties are aware bout the real truth.

Javier just stared into her eyes, and a dangerous smirk landed on his face "Still acting smart? Jennifer, I do know that you used my phone last night to call your best friend, Hannah back in the states."

With the last hope and courage also crumbling down, there was nothing left for her to hide anymore. Her face started paling at a rapid speed, with her lips losing all of their colors.

"I..I..never.."

"Quit lying, Jennifer. Do you think that this world-class villa has all amenities, so I will not install any kind of cameras here?" His face was too close to her lips.

If he even moved an inch near her, she was sure that their lips would probably touch. His powerful aura was making her feel her heart shattered into tiny pieces.

'How can I forget that there must be cameras everywhere in this place? He must have got to know about my actions through his cameras! Shit, Jen.' All she could do was cursing herself in her mind for her stupid and carelessness to never check these types of things.

"Tell me, Jennifer, what was left? you were provided with everything here. Yet you tried to run away from me?" His husky voice sent chills down her spines. She gulped saliva present on her tongue because of the deep and intoxicating feel he was passing her.

Sweat was formed on her forehead, with the back hair of her skin all standing up due to his intense gazes. "You...You have captured.. me.. my freedom."

"Do you think that your freedom is more than your life? Your action resulted in damage, Jennifer." She was clueless about how her actions can result in damage to him? How?

He even didn't give her any option to say and put forward her words but before, he clutched the wrist of her left hand and started dragging her!

Horror filled in her body. No, she doesn't want to be caged somewhere now. "Javier! I might have committed a mistake but please listen to me!! At least listen to what I have to say."

He didn't stop. He kept on walking with his large steps and brought her along with his body. Uneasiness and dread were consumed in her heart.

"Javier, please listen to me! See, I didn't do that intently! Understand that!"

Javier was bent on taking the things to the next level, "Too late, Jennifer. Your actions have caused greater damage to not only me but also to you."

Jennifer's whole face was worried. He was either in anger or was this ego, she can't comprehend. Where was she being taken? They both descended the stairs and he finally brought her in the attics, where there was literally no source of light.

It was pitch dark, and he turned on the lights of his torch, after which she looked around the area. His grip on her wrist was still tight…. but, she was no longer revolting.

He has once decided what to do and it was evident that he won't back off from his words. Her eyes were all red due to the fear she felt at that moment.

He was acting more coldly to her since the last time. The sweetness between them was growing over the past few days.

They both were growing closer to each other but.. her actions made him angry and it was evident that this time it was serious.

"Javier.. j..just listen to me.. Javier!" Jennifer once again pleaded in front of him when he just brought her into the darkroom where nothing was coming into her view.

Pitch dark!

The horror made her legs go weak. She was clutching his hand too tightly to avoid falling on her knees. But luck wasn't on her side either.

The only source of light was the small window at the top but she doesn't find it of any use to her because the light isn't enough to make them see other things.

"Jennifer… You have to stay here." With this, he pushed her to something when she fell on the mattress on the floor.

A sudden pain shot through her leg when she landed on the floor. She had no idea what happened too suddenly.

But this doesn't concern her now. Turning her face, she lifted her eye to look at Javier under the dim light. "Javier.. at least lis.."

"Stay here." With this, he started taking a step back and in a fraction of seconds, the door closed tightly. Jennifer tried to get on her feet but to her disappointment, nothing wormed in her favor.

"Ouch! Ahh.." her toe twisted and a sprain was surely there but her eyes were just fixed on the door, despite the acute pain in her leg.

Her breath was uneven when anxiety took over her heart. Obviously, her hand moved to clutch her heart tightly, and with all the courage left she shouted "JAVIER! COME BACK!!! GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
