The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 35 - No Longer Hidden

But the tsunami was yet to come in her way. Thinking of the possibility that Javier doesn't know about her act of last night, her heart was currently at ease. Only she knows how difficult it was to smile when he stepped out of his room in the morning.

His aura wasn't as she earlier expected. This made her thing still less complicated. Last night, talking to Hannah gave a big relief to her heart. But now, she is more alert. What if she is caught?

She was trying to maintain her calm despite the fear of being caught, but now that she realized that Javier was flirting with her, Jennifer knows everything is at peace and he hasn't discovered anything.

Otherwise, she won't have witnessed his smiling face early in the morning, with naughtiness lingering on his entire lips.

Jennifer was relaxingly cooking breakfast for them while humming in a slow voice. But the sudden uproar of something being hit jolted her back. The plate from her hand stumbled on the ground with a thud but her eyes flew to the room from where the sound came from.

Her heart thrummed too loud in her chest, by the sudden chaos created, with unknown feeling crept inside her heart.

'What happened now? What kind of sound was this?' She was clueless. Jennifer wanted to disregard the voice and concentrate back on her work but her heart constantly asked her to go and check once.

Something was wrong, which her mind kept on telling her. Leaving the slashed plate on the ground itself, Jennifer slowly walked in the direction of his room. She gulped her own saliva in fear however, with his leftover courage, she did knock on the door.

"J..Javier.. are you alright?" she asked, in her low voice but enough for the person inside to hear it. "I'm coming out in a few minutes. You continue your work."

He didn't respond to her question. Moreover, from his voice, everything did look normal so putting all the thoughts back at the end of her mind, Jennifer picked up the glass on the floor one by one and put them in the bin.

Despite the calmness and peace in the environment, she wasn't entirely convinced. Javier wasn't out until now, but she unsure if the voice she heard was of something breaking or not?

By that time, breakfast was already ready. The aroma of the food that she made entered her nostrils which made her stomach grumble instantly. 'At least... I'm not being starved..'

At this time, all the worry was pushed back into the deep hole in her heart to just enjoy her time here. She made breakfast for the first time, ever since so long, it was surely special for her.

A sneaky smile plastered on her face when she touched the food and ate a bite of it with a spoon, "Umm...Good work Jennifer!" she patted her own back in appreciation but at the same time, the door of Javier's door was spent with a loud bang.

Her heart started thumbing too loudly to see the icy cold layer on his face, which was in contrast to his earlier happy mood. "You look upset. Something happened?"

Jennifer just asked, out of courtesy, not like she was interested in investing in his affairs. After all, they are living under the same roof, and out of respect and humanity, she asked in general but his face twisted at her sweet voice.

"Jennifer..." he mumbled her name under his breath but this somehow shifted her emotions. The sound was too intoxicating for her...

"W...What?" Her words stumbled on their own, but her eyes suddenly fell on his those, deep eyes in which she can get lost too easily. They were simply threatening, but they have some magic in them, to capture her mind and read her said.

He walked closer, taking each step with utmost care but the threatening and the dangerous look never stopped. The temperature was quickly dropping because of his continual fixed glare on her body.

Until he reached near her. Jennifer's face was fully lifted when she was still staring into his eyes as if he had the power to hypnotize her. "C...Can you tell me if..ev..everything is alright?"

"I tried so many things to make you feel comfortable. In this house, there is almost every amenity that is needed for your comforts. Yet still, you dared to do that?" His words sent her a shock in her whole brain.

For a few mere seconds, Jennifer's breath halted in the middle when she realized what he was talking about 'D...Does he know..but he was just fine a few minutes ago?!? No, please!' her mind processes everything that's happening with her.

Unconsciously she has clutched her apron from the side with so much force that it crumbled down. Trying to maintain a fake smile on her face, Jennifer answered, "What are you talking about?"

"About what you did last night behind my back, Jennifer. Your actions are no longer hidden in my villa."
