The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 23 - Something Hot?

His sound was deeply intoxicating. Olivia didn't even turn around to face him anymore and only arranged the files which she brought along with her on his desk in a professional manner.

"Shall I remind you sir that you asked me to stay away from you?" She knows how to make her way and this was one of them.

It was her chance to show him, her importance despite, that he won't care about her actions even the least bit. After all, in his eyes, she is a mere tool and puppet working for money and fame. How can he see her love and care in her eyes for him?

Olivia kept herself engaged in his official work when Lucas came behind her with his large steps and pulled her hair tightly. Her hand clutched his hand which was holding her hair, which was almost sending migraine to her brain.

"Lucas!" She yelled at the top of her lungs but he didn't seem to care about the pain she received. "You are my assistant. Stop giving me your baseless excuses and dramas. I have other things to deal with and they are much more important as compared to your nonsense emotions!"

He made it quite clear for her and finally released her hair, pushing her a little forward which made her stumble on the place. If not for the desk that was in front of her, she would have collapsed on the floor with her jaw touching the hard ground.

Realization drew on her face. His rough actions towards her were consecutively getting harsher. Olivia tried to maintain the calmness in her heart and to accept that she had fallen for someone, a criminal like him yet it was going beyond her reach now.

She was lying on the desk, with her head spinning around when his voice entered her ears, "Now come with me before I.... do something worse than this." His threat was normal for her, as his assistant, she bears with it.

The bun that she made was fully messy. With her own courage and strength, Olivia stood up with her chin high and looked at Lucas's back who just left her cabin.

'He is arrogant and trying to misbehave because of that stupid Jennifer! What has that girl done to him too? make him obsess so much?' She knew that Jennifer wasn't someone who would try to take man's attention but Lucas's consecutive efforts to get Jennifer back were somewhat irking her.

There was no way to deny that her heart was squeezing with his attention which was suddenly back to his bride. Though she knew that Jennifer is his fiance, but the reality wasn't as easy to accept as everyone thought it.

Yet she has nothing to say in between them. Pulling herself and after taking a glance in the spare mirror that was placed into Lucas's cabin, she too proceeded out behind him and entered the meeting room with utmost attitude and professionalism.

How can she not be proud of being Lucas's single assistant? But this meeting was more about someone, whom she doesn't like.

The higher officials looked at Lucas with sirens reflected in their eyes. "We are trying our best. It is still surprising that a girl got kidnapped in such a way."

"Fiance. The girl you are referring to isn't any simple girl but is my fiance. The future Mrs. Smith and also, my future wife." His statement didn't make much difference in the environment but Olivia's mood did turn off just the moment those words slipped out of his mouth.

'Fiance? As if he cares about her well-being. If not because of her.. identity..' Olivia can only suppress the waves of anger and jealousy that she felt and act normally.

"Yes sir, your future wife. But it seems that we have to use much more power to get her back. The people who have kidnapped her are much stronger and used every major measure to take." another official replied.

Lucas's eyes turned colder with each passing comment that he received. "I pay you guys not to hear that my work won't be done! I want a name and that's all." He was prepared to use all his connections to get the girl back very soon.

While the officials were giving him a disapproving look, Olivia stayed silent until now. "Lucas, if they are saying that they're trying then why blame them?"

She can't understand what is making him so concerned about Jennifer that he is even getting furious over the top officials, with whom they should have a good connection. If they get angry, it will be difficult to find the location and their plan will fail in the middle of the sea!

"Their trying isn't enough to get me what I want Olivia! Remember that I'm not too patient." She knew how this man is. Just too stubborn in his words

"B-" Olivia was signaled to shut her mouth immediately by Lucas and she can only swallow her own words into her mouth.

Lucas stared at the management people with his deep gaze, "That would be the last time I'm telling you. Find Jennifer Taylor as soon as possible."

"We are working on it. Moreover, we all know that your enemies are no less, Mr. Smith! It is difficult to reach them.." another official dared to say his thoughts out so freely, but his words made Lucas furious.

Without saying anything further in front of them, Lucas stood up and left the meeting room without uttering a single word anymore. Olivia's face froze when she saw how distantly he left the officials.

The situation was getting out of her hands and it was now becoming more difficult to handle the entire mess that he left behind for her to clear out.

She passed them an awkward smile to ease the tension, "Please don't mind him… he is just too worried about his fiance. I hope you will understand."

"Sure Miss. Olivia." She knows that they all minded his current actions but this was how she used to work for so long. Making things up for him.

After settling down everything with them, Olivia also made her way back to his cabin. Not only the sudden departure but also she was irked by his sudden change in demeanor due to the kidnapping.

His high ego was so much affected that he is venting out all his anger on them!

"Lucas! Do you even know how your actions disappointed them? You should have at least talked to them to sort things out." Olivia said when she entered the cabin.

She yelled because of his indifferent behavior but he doesn't seem to care at all. It doesn't affect him whether what she says is good or bad.

Lucas was making a drink for himself near his small bar and looked unaffected by her words. A sigh escaped through her mouth.

Seeing him acting immature doesn't surprise her. But his current behavior to ignore everything important and to distract his mind was surely not something she appreciated.

"Lucas.." Olivia closed the door behind her and looked worried. She warmly called his name but Lucas was absorbed in making his drink and she waited for him to complete.

After he was done, he finally turned around to look at Olivia who was in distress. Bringing the drink near his lips, a smirk curved on his face.

"Olivia, how long has it been since we both had something hot?"
