The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 13 - Pulling Her Leg

After having breakfast with him, as told, Jennifer started exploring more places. To get out of this distant island, first, she has to check if there are chances to find someone else, though she didn't keep her hopes high.

When Jennifer stepped out of the villa, she saw a straight beach in front of her. The seawater was plain and brought a cold breeze with it.

But beside her, came Javier who also looked at her radiant smile which suddenly appeared with the sight of beaches.

"Do you love the sea and sand?" His sudden question somewhat brought too many emotions to be mixed inside her mind. "I...I just love the calmness that beaches provide."

"Beaches don't have that calmness if we go one any regular beach. There are tons of people there and you can't even enjoy the beautiful view."

His words did make sense to her but somewhat, her eyes averted to see his calmness. His words didn't match his body language at all. "You must be in love with beaches as well. Otherwise, you won't have bought such a large villa on this distant island."

A flickered smile raised upon his face which even faded before she could have registered it in her mind.

"Won't you like to explore the whole island?" He changed the topic but this raised curiosity inside her heart. Still, keeping that curiosity inside her brain, she slightly nodded her head.

"So... I believe you won't be able to go and just roam alone. Instead, you need someone who can take you to different places." Javier suggested and Jennifer totally agreed. "You can say, I need a tour guide."

"Exactly. So, one of my members will help you travel to the places on this island. It doesn't have much, but all you can see is rocks, there is a thick forest behind but it has a trail so you can go inside it."

Jennifer moved her face to look in the direction where he pointed out. She can see that there was a dense forest, but it would be interesting to roam inside it.

"It doesn't have snakes and other dangerous insects, right?" Jennifer cautiously asked. She doesn't want herself to be trapped in another danger on this unknown island.

Especially when she was pretty much sure, she won't even get to any doctor here.

Javier kept his straight face, when he replied, "No. They aren't dangerous. Might be some scorpions or small snakes. There is a pound in the middle, so some frogs and cro-"

He stopped in the middle to see her white and paled face. She was almost shivering down in fear of some unknown. Uneasiness spread all over her face.

"Jennifer?" He gently called out her name but she nearly pushed him away. "Don't even call my name! You bastard!!!! You brought me to an island where there are these types of things!?"

There was no end to her anger. He can easily guess she was afraid. "So what? You look so outspoken and brave girl… don't tell me you are afraid of these tiny things?"

"Tiny? Are you even sane? I guess you need to see a doctor because those.. aren't tiny things for sure!" her voice halted in between due to the fear she felt for them. In her entire life, she has another phobia of creepy crawlies.

When Javier noticed her burning gaze, and she was frozen to the ground, he knew that he overstepped the boundary until now. A chuckle passed through his lips when he lowered his face and this confused Jennifer

"Why are you even laughing? You think I cracked any funny joke in front of you?" Jennifer folded her hands to brought near her arm, with her chin high.

"Obviously no. Just your reaction was pretty much cute.." Jennifer made a pout, with a deep frown curved on her forehead. She knows that he is making a joke of her fear but she didn't take it to heart.

But her eyes did linger at his beautiful laugh. It was rare for her to praise someone because her eyes couldn't find someone handsome so easily.

When Javier saw that she wasn't responding anymore, he cleared his throat to answer back, "No, there aren't any kind of creepy crawlies or scorpions. I was only pulling your leg.. to see your reaction."

"Very funny!" Her cheeks burnt when she realized that he took advantage of her fear. He just got a chance to annoy her with this!

But still keeping it in her heart, she didn't look much stressed. After hearing that there are no animals on this island, her shoulders relaxed a little bit.

"So? who will be accompanying me in this?" Jennifer finally asked to which Javier replied, "One of my members. He knows this place very well so I guess he will be able to take you around."

'It would be better if the person is experienced. I can know.. if there is an opportunity to escape or not..' despite acting cheerfully, her mind was still fixed on the topic of escaping from this unknown island.

On the other hand, Javier called his man and after two minutes, someone appeared in a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Her eyes were half shut due to the bright sunlight and were able to clearly see only when the man walked closer and closer.

"Meet Ellen. He will have you walk around the forest. Make sure to follow him because he knows better than you." Jennifer passed him a dagger-like glare: Do I look like a small kid?

When Javier noticed her expression, and what her eyes were trying to communicate, he replied with a smile that made her heart skip a beat.

"You know.. I'm worried that you will try to use your extra brilliant mind and end up in some problem so better follow his advice." At last, Jennifer ignored his sarcastic comment on her and looked at Ellen.

"It is nice to meet you. Can you please take me there, at the peak of that mountain?"
