Chapter 8: Rewards

Rosie curls onto her body, hugging it tightly as Rex approaches.

She is despairing in the face of Rex in his half-werewolf form, ‘Why did I bring him here? I’m going to get killed now’

When suddenly,

The shards of the window make an explosive arc as Rex jump through it, some of the shards flew towards Rosie.

Rosie’s eyes widened in surprise, she turns her head in reflex when some of the shards flew towards her.

She gets up and looks at the running Rex, Her eyes flickered with a sense of relief and curiosity, ‘He really is a human, No supernatural hesitate in killing humans. But what happened to him?’ she thought.

Rosie sigh and looks toward her back, she couldn’t help but smile wryly, The training room is full of claw marks left by Rex.

She bit her lower lip, ‘How do I explain this?’

Igniting the world with a new light, The sun rises with elegance.

The golden light prickles Rex’s eyes as his eyes move under his eyelids in discomfort, He slowly opens his eyes and was greeted by the sun.

He raises his hand to block the sunlight trying to adjust his eyes to his surrounding.

He slowly gets up from the ground,

“Argghh!”, Rex groans in pain after feeling that his entire body feels like a broken twig.

Rex held his right hand on his right ribs, “It hurts!” he whimpers.

His head still dizzy, he tries to remember what happened that makes him feel like this.

When suddenly,

Rex’s eyes went round, he remembers the event that happened yesterday night!

“No,no,no…. I’M NOT A WEREWOLF!” Tears started to well up in his eyes, He cannot accept the fact that he is no longer a human.

He grips the ground in anger, the veins on his arms started to expand as he grips the ground tighter.

“AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!” He screamed in despair.

‘How funny is fate? I hate the supernatural but they turn me into one’ he smiled mockingly, pitying himself.

Then suddenly Rex remembers something, ‘They? The System?!’

A hologram notification appears in front of him as soon as he thinks ‘System’

Full-Moon Type: Blood Moon

Blood Moon Effect:

Increases the user’s stats by 500%

Decreases the user’s sanity stats by 30%

Increases the user’s berserk stats by 40%

During the Blood Moon, the User will be filled with uncontrollable rage and bloodlust.

Rex looks at the non-stop notifications coming from the system, He looks at it and blinked a few times in a daze.

“I don’t want this power! I won’t become a supernatural! Get out of my body!” Rex doesn’t want this kind of power, his hatred towards the supernatural has already seeped into his soul so naturally, he is not happy with this predicament.

Rex is burning with anger he picks out a broken tree branch, “If you won’t get out of me, Then I’ll just kill myself!”

He raises the tree branch intending to stab himself when suddenly, a flash of the scene where his parents died crosses his mind.

The devilish grin on the furred monster once again flashes in his mind,

His breathing suddenly gets heavy, ‘I can’t, I can’t die yet!’ he slowly puts the tree branch down.

Suddenly a single notification appeared,

Reading this Rex realized, his mind was clouded with hatred before but now it is clear.

‘Yes, it doesn’t matter if I become one of them. As long as I gain the power to kill them….That’s all that matters’ he finally decided to use this power for revenge.

‘After I exterminate the Supernaturals, Then, I will kill myself’ Rex’s eyes spark with determination.

‘System, are you really going to make me stronger?’ asks Rex.

‘This power, can I do whatever I want with it?’ Rex asks with faint anticipation.

After reading what the system said, His eyes blaze with killing intent.

He smiled disturbingly when suddenly he thought of something, ‘If the system gives me supernatural power, doesn’t that means it is on the supernatural side?’

He decided to ask another question, ‘No matter which side am I on?’

Reading this, Rex smiled mischievously.

‘First thing first, let’s get out of here.’

Rex struggles to stand up, ‘Ugh I think my ribs are broken’

‘It sure is good to have regenerating abilities’ Rex thought, then he decided to go back home.

There are no mishaps that happen during his journey back home though everyone seems to give him disgusting glances, ‘Well, I cannot judge them. My shirt is torn off from the transformation’ Rex thought, he looks like a beggar.

He sigh when he thought about the event last night, ‘Oh yeah! I gotta find Rosie, I need her to keep this a secret’

‘Hmm? Did I just trigger a quest by thinking about Rosie? Regardless if it’s a quest or not, I need to make sure Rosie didn’t tell anyone.’ Rex thought.

After dwelling on his thoughts, Rex didn’t realize that he’s already in front of his house.

Rex’s house is average, it is a two-story house with three bedrooms. The insides of it are comfortable, white sofa, a TV hangs on the wall in front of the white sofa, a fireplace just under the TV that makes Rex feel nostalgic after all he’s been serving in the military for years.

Just as he enters his house, his mom already pokes her head out of the kitchen.

“Oh Rex, Where have you been?” His mom asks with a playful smile, she studied Rex from head to toe.

“Emm.. Rosie suddenly feels sick so I escorted her home” he replied with a forced smile, trying his best to lie his way out.

Ms.Greene shakes her head, “Really now? I can clearly tell that you’re lying”.

Ms.Greene approaches him and tugs with her elbow, then she continues, “I know that teen this day is bold but really? On the first day you met her she already brings you to her house?”

Rex’s face reddened after realizing what his mother thought, “WHAT? No mom I just es…”

“Yea Yea, You don’t have to lie to me. But seriously, why is she so fierce that even your clothes didn’t survive” Ms.Greene said playfully.

“MOM!” Rex shouted feeling embarrassed, he then runs towards his room and closes it leaving behind his laughing mother.

After he got into his room, Rex jumped onto his bed face first.

‘Aaah, I’m tired’, Rex then remembers that he still has some rewards that he got from transforming yesterday.

He then calls out the system and quickly goes to the Stat tab,

Looking at the stats, Rex noticed some changes.

Rex noticed that the Full-Moon section turned from Blood Moon into Dark Moon, ‘So this section indicates when is the next Full-Moon but what is its effect? Let’s just try to avoid transforming’ He thought.

The berserk and sanity stats have increased tremendously, although Rex still didn’t understand the meaning behind those stats. ‘I know that sanity will be measured during Full-Moon’ he thought, then he looks towards the other stats.

Strength, Agility, and Endurance have increased just like the System said but his intelligence and mental didn’t even budge. ‘So that leaves us to Strength, Agility, and Endurance. Hmm, Which one to raise’.

Before he raises his attribute, he tries to add it into Intelligence but quickly got denied.

‘How about mental stats’ Rex thought, he tries to raise his mental, and surprisingly it can be added.

Rex remembers that the Mental stats will be added during Full-Moon, Rex doesn’t want to transform needlessly again so he decided to add four points into Mental stats.

‘Ah, too much thinking today. I’ll just add the rest of them to Strength’ he thought feeling tired.

Rex’s stats now looked like this,

He looks at the updated Stats tab and satisfied with it, His eyes then closes wanting to rest when suddenly he remembers the reward he got from the system.

‘System where do I find the Talon thingy’ Asks Rex inside his head.

Rex then proceeds to open the Inventory tab, Rex found one item lying there. He decided to click on it to see if he can find the item’s description, luckily another tab opened after Rex clicks the item.

‘Hmm enhance my claw? How do I do that?’, Rex decided to bring out the Talon by clicking on it twice.

Magically, a big talon appeared on his hand that is as big as a soccer ball.

He lifts it up and studied it,

The talon is black in color and is heavy as steel, it is shiny under the room’s light and has a sharp feeling in it.

After looking at it, Rex brings it closer to his nails when suddenly a notification appeared.

Rex immediately answer yes,

The Talon suddenly merges into his nails, the process is a little bit painful but Rex can still manage.

Then another notification appeared,

Rex opened his mouth wide in shock, ‘I can raise my claw’s level?! Wait, doesn’t this means I can also increase other body part levels as well?’
