The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 447: Not done yet

Chapter 447: Not done yet

Zaos knew that Milliendra sooner or later would arrive in Sairus kingdom, but since he couldn’t follow the ships, he had to head there and find Drannor. Of all people, he was the one he couldn’t let see Milliendra while her powers were active… that would trouble more than a bit of bit Milliendra and Drannor. Still, he didn’t know when or where they would meet, so Zaos had to deal with the troublemakers that caused that whole situation before leaving the country. By doing so, he would be sure that his mercenaries would be able to live and work for Kat until the time came.

With his secret routes, reaching Elkim’s base would only take a week. Still, Zaos decided to openly head to his town instead of using them. Aleni needed some extra time to rest, and Moody had suffered quite a lot during the last trip since Zaos forced him to work a lot. Besides, Zaos wanted to make a point… that he didn’t need to be sneaky to defeat those guys. That was one of the things he thought over the last week… if he could have shown how fearsome he was, only a handful of people would try to mess with him.

During that time, Zaos wondered how he could get stronger enough to pull that off, something like facing an army without showing himself having a difficult time. While he could do that, he still was on a level that some people would think that he could be killed. Of course, he wasn’t immortal, but he needed to show a level of power that made people think that he was a true monster…

He developed his techniques mostly to face enemies one at a time, and it was just a coincidence that they worked well against groups. Still, now he wanted to develop something even more impressive than what he knew. Putting the difference in talent aside, if the demon god managed to create several new types of magic, Zaos wanted to believe that he could do too since they were both reincarnated individuals.

“Starting anything from scratch would take too long to develop any kind of technique combat-wise, so I should focus on improving my current abilities, I guess,” Zaos thought.

The demon god increased his lifespan, and while that was something that Zaos was interested in, he didn’t have time to chase that. His priority was to rescue Milliendra… and then deal with everyone that might become troublesome when the demon god arrives.

“Aleni, what do you think I should do to become even stronger?” Zaos asked. “I am out of ideas… and I want to scare the crap out of anyone who might think of causing problems to us again.”

“I think that you are strong enough… but considering your previous battle against Darkaun and what apparently the demon god can do, I guess we all need more strength,” Aleni lowered her head, still thinking that she failed Milliendra in the previous battle. “Considering your magic, I think it would be better if you could focus on earth magic to increase the defensive abilities of your whole body and wind magic to increase your speed.”

“I suppose that makes sense, but even my earth magic can’t stop arrows and bolts from piercing my skin a bit,” Zaos said. “If I were to be hit by numerous poisoned projectiles…”

“Then focus on wind magic and make it increase your speed so much that you can become impossible to hit,” Aleni said. “Or maybe use the wind to create a barrier around your body.”

It seemed like a good idea, but that technique probably wouldn’t last long… Besides, could Zaos have the reflexes if he enhances his body up to three or four times? Just increasing his movement speed wouldn’t be enough. He needed the power to control every single movement of his body. Otherwise, a useful technique might become a burden…

After thinking for a while, Zaos came up with an idea. In fact, a single image popped in his head, and he began to think that it was something he saw in his previous life… while he had never tried before with the high tiers of elemental magic, could he enhance his body with things like magma, ice, or even electricity? He never tried to strengthen it with water and fire because he feared what it could do with his body and because as a soldier, increasing his speed, strength, and endurance was already enough, but what if he could…

“My body is a lot stronger than before, so it should be fine if I get hurt a little bit… Please don’t explode my arm!” Zaos said when he tried to enhance his hand with fire magic.

Zaos felt his hand growing hotter, but the temperature wasn’t that high… probably because he used that type of magic countless times, and he never hurt himself. Nevertheless, when Zaos tried to punch the air, it caused a small explosion. Much to his surprise, he didn’t feel any kick behind it… it was like his hand just made the air in front of him move away.

When Zaos tried with water, he decreased the temperature of the air around his hand a little bit, making even him feel some cold, even though he was supposed to be resistant against it.

“You are already trying something new…” Aleni said, visibly surprised. “I wish my skills were that versatile, I am jealous.”

“Well, I have been messing with magic since I was three, after all,” Zaos smiled. “Unless I were able to do something of this level freely, I would feel like I had wasted my time with all that training over the course of many decades.”

Still, while the number of options in Zaos’ hands increased, he still had a long way to go. None of those things would help him achieve his goal to make the world fear him. That being said, he wasn’t done yet.
