Ten Years of Yearning. My Love, Let Me Protect You.

"Don't show me that look? I want to talk with Pipi. I'll just make a call." This time her tone sounded pleading as she looked at his pant because he always put his phone in the front pockets of his pants. 

"..."

"Hey! I'll just make a phone call...okay?" She asked him as she took his right hand and shook it violently but he stayed still and remained quiet. She saw his unwavering attitude and decided to soften her voice as she spoke again to persuade him. 

"Ruming, we are going abroad in two days. I guess it'll be a long time before I could meet her again. Pipi is my best friend. Just let me..." She couldn't finish her last sentence as Sheng Ruming's stone face cracked and lost its colour, it became dark instantly. 

He squinted his eyes while looking at her face as he asked her in a deep voice, "Pipi...your best friend?! Shouldn't it be me? Also, Is it a man or woman?" He asked her as his voice cracked. His voice sounded as if she had wronged him.

'Best friend?! If it is a woman then it can be discussed. But if it is a man then...heh! She can forget about calling him.' Sheng Ruming thought in his mind as he waited for her answer.

Luo Lixi's mind blanked out for a second as she looked at him. She was caught off guard by his sudden mood swing. 'Pipi...how could it  be a man's name?! Doesn't it sound very childish?' She laughed at his EQ in her mind and wanted to tease him for a moment. So, in the next second, she entered her not so good acting.

"Umm...yes. He is a..." Luo Lixi showed an expression of confusion as if she was hesitant to give him an answer. 

Sheng Ruming thought Pipi was a man. He looked at her and showed a face which turned red from anger. "Forget about him. In this lifetime, It's me who can only be your best friend, not him." He told her in great determination. He wouldn't let her have any contact with another man who could endanger his place in her heart.

Sheng Ruming grasped her chin with his left hand and told her word by word. 

"Understand? Get that in your little mind."

"..." 

He was absent from her life for ten years and the thought of a man who was her best friend in that time made him extremely jealous of that unknown person. He felt a little insecure as she insisted on talking with that person from time to time but she was ignored by him. Now she again brought up this matter. 

He knew it was wrong to restrict her from using a phone or to not give her one but he felt unsettled in his mind. What if she disappeared again or her grandfather took her away. He thought he would become crazy if something like this happens. He looked at her face and these messy thoughts were spinning in his mind.

 Luo Lixi was a little surprised by his domineering replies. She didn't think she would get such a response from him. She thought it was useless to tease him and decided to stop her acting or else by looking at his expression, in the next second he would start to bark at her. She thought as she smiled a little. As Sheng Ruming saw her smile, he thought she agreed with his statements. Thus, his anxious mind cooled down a little.

Luo Lixi softened her facial expressions and told him in a calm and composed voice, "What are you saying?! How could a man be called Pipi?! Pipi is a girl and my best friend. Her full name is Kong Pipi. Surely you don't need to give such a big reaction for that. Also, what's wrong with having a boy friend? When I used to work in the Luo Corporation, I had to get acquainted with many men. Also, some of them were my friends. Back then, where were you?" She told him as she freed her face from his grasp. She sat upright as she looked at his eyes. She told him without holding back anything and blurted out everything.

Sheng Ruming took deep breaths as he listened to her blabbering. His self-control would have snapped already if he didn't know she was just trying to provoke him. 'How could her grandfather allow her to meet with random people. I know that man's true colour. Had to get acquainted with several men? Heh!' He thought as she was speaking.

"Forget that topic. Kong Pipi is a good girl. We have been best friends for nearly five years. Also, she goes to my home regularly. I'm sure I can know about the situation at home. Also, I want to know the most is... about grandpa." She replied gloomily as she imagined her grandfather's smiling old face. In the past month, she wanted to know about his news the most.

Sheng Ruming remainder silent when he heard her.

Luo Lixi continued as she crossed her legs unconsciously. "Just like you and...Ji Yanli, she is also my best friend." She said as she flashed him a stunning smile. She didn't know Ji Yanli personally but she was sure that he valued her a lot or else he wouldn't trust her enough to instruct her to do important things such as shopping, turning a room into a closet for her etc. He always didn't like to have contact with girls but Ji Yanli was an exceptional one. If he didn't confess to her that day, she would've thought that he liked that woman. She heard from the maids that Ji Yanli has a good character and many of them were hired by her.

Sheng Ruming didn't know in Luo Lixi's mind, he was almost paired with another woman. If he could know, he would have immediately shown her who was the woman in his heart by kissing her again so that her lazy mind couldn't think of such useless things. But, alas! he couldn't hear.
