Ten Years of Yearning. My Love, Let Me Protect You.

Ji Yanli was good almost at everything. He quite liked this young lady and had a favourable expression of her. She would occasionally go to their home with homemade foods or other things that were full of sincerity. 

Madam Sheng likes her very much. Also, she was the only female close to their son. So, they had a good impression of her. She was also from a wealthy family so they didn't think she had befriended their son for his money or something like that.

"Yanli, come home when you are free. Your aunt misses you." He told her.

"Of course I'll come. Please tell aunty I'll go to meet her this weekend. Also, I have made some light sweets yesterday. Please have a taste and enjoy it with the tea." she gently passed a plate in front of him. 

Those were something she had made for Sheng Ruming and Wang Haixiao. When she knew Sheng Ruming would come to the office today, she brought it along with her. 

They chatted for a while. Wang Haixiao had to deal with something so he took his leave. 

Ji Yanli remained there to accompany him. He had come to the company after a long time. It was bad to leave the elderly alone.

Sheng Haotin asked Ji Yanli about the company's condition as well as the progress of the new projects. 

After beating around the bush for sometime, he finally asked the question he wanted to. "Yanli, tell me the truth. Why didn't he come to the company in the past few days? Is something wrong with him? I heard some rumours saying he was unwell. Are those true?"

"No. He is just exhausted. The pressure of work here is huge. He has to do many works by himself as the CEO. So he was a bit tired." She replied calmly while staring at the floor.

"Of course it is. If it was easy then anybody could've been able to sit at that position." he said while sipping his tea calmly. 

"Yes." She smiled slightly at his remark. 

"Today I will take him home with me no matter what. His mother wants to meet him but with his stubborn personality, he didn't even talk with us for nearly two months. Such a heartless brat!" There was suppressed anger in his voice. 

"But today he has many meetings and appointments to attend to. I don't think he will go." she said slowly.

"I'll take him when the meetings at the company finish." He told in a rather determined voice.

"Oh, I see." She didn't say anything afterwards. 

Wang Haixiao had already cancelled the appointments in the morning when Sheng Ruming told him to do so. She knew it but told the old man early things as if she didn't know.

"This time your aunt has chosen two more  candidates for him. I can't even stop her from doing this. I honestly don't know what he has in his mind as to why he is so against the idea of marriage. Do you know the reason?" 

Ji Yanli had been his friend for many years and they had seen he favoured her much more from others. Sheng Haotin thought she could have known the reason. 

Ji Yanli's perfect face cracked after hearing it.

"I don't know. Also, uncle, if he knows about the new dates aunty has arranged for him, I'm sure he will be extremely angry."

'I guess he won't go with you today. That woman...' Her mind was drifting away as she thought about Luo Lixi. 

Sheng Haotin sensed her lack of attention but didn't say anything. He stopped talking. When his cup became empty, she refilled it with hot green tea.

They were waiting for nearly eighty minutes but there wasn't any sign of his arrival. In the meantime, Wang Haixiao returned after completing his task. Ji Yanli took her leave when he came.

"Haixiao, Where is he staying for the past two months? Why is he even taking so long to come?" He looked at his watch. It was already 11 am.

"He is coming. Please wait a little longer." Wang Haixiao's hands were sweating as he was looking at the door. He didn't answer for the first question as Sheng Ruming wouldn't spare him if he did.

"Don't waste your time here. Go to your work. When he arrives, just notify me. It'll do, go" The spoke sternly and reprimanded him.

"Yes." He stood up and bowed down to him. After that, he walked towards the exit. Just when his hand was reaching for the handle of the door, it opened from the outside.

Sheng Ruming entered the room hastily. When he saw his father was there, he heaved a sigh in his mind. 

"Good morning, CEO. Your father has been waiting for you for a long time. Please go. I'll take my leave." 

Wang Haixian spoke in a very professional way as he gave him a deep bow. Sheng Ruming glanced at him sideways and saw Wang Haixiao gave him a cheeky smile as he slipped out from the room, leaving them alone.

For the past few days, the pitiful PA felt both mentally and physically drained out as he managed many works single-handedly. 

Even if Ji Yanli was there to help him,the work was huge. He thought he would go insane at this rate. But now that the CEO had come and had to face his father, Wang Haixiao felt a bit happy and also a little excited. He wanted to eavesdrop at them but knew it wasn't a wise decision as he looked towards the surveillance camera outside of the room and waved at it happily.

When he exited the room earlier, he saw Ji Yanli was talking to a worker. As she noticed him, she walked towards his place. 

"I heard boss has come." she asked him softly as she glanced at the glass door.

"Yes, but I think it's not good to disturb them now. Let's go." He said as he grasped her hand and dragged her with him.

"What are you doing?! Let go my hand!"She said angrily as he was dragging her to the office room where both of them work.

Wang Haixiao abruptly stopped and turned to her, "I have some works to discuss with you and it's very urgent. Come with me." 

"You..." Ji Yanli wanted to curse at him but saw some office workers were looking at them. They were whispering themselves as they peeked at their side. She smiled at them slightly and turned towards the hand he was gripping tightly.

'Argh! Now there will be a new topic in the company to gossip." she looked at the insensitive man in front of her as she gnashed her teeth in anger.

"Ok, let's go. But let go of my hand first. Can't you see they are looking at us? You idiot!" she said angrily. Wang Haixiao immediately loosened his grip on her. Ji Yanli soothed her expression and passed by him as she started walking faster, leaving him behind.

"Hey, Yanli. Wait for me." Wang Haixiao followed her closely and entered into their room.
