Solo Cultivation in The Apocalypse

Chapter 43 Casual Comeback.

The boss woman who had been stabbed with iron stakes was still struggling through death. Not a single drop of blood had fallen, but her claws were covered in blood.

Hitori turned his eyes to the woman, “Pontianak, huh?” he parted his lips. Not a single feature of Hitori’s face moved, he kept staring at the struggling Pontianak.

“Why?” he demanded. Hitori unequipped his katana and he started walking towards the Pontianak.

A medium-sized parang appeared in Hitori’s arm, he increased his pace of walking. His eyebrows tensed, his lips curled, Hitori clenched his fists.

The parang swung up in the air with sparks of ice falling down. Hitori looked down at the woman for a second before he started bringing down the parang.

With a clean slice, the parang sliced through Pontianak’s head. She stopped moving at once, her arms fell down, her eyelids fell down. Soon, her body started turning into pixels.

The parang Hitori was holding in his hands slowly started turning back to normal. Hitori pulled the parang back into its sheath and unequipped it.

The ghost Pontianak lying in front of Hitori soon disappeared into thin air, and in place of her, a few shiny objects appeared.

[you have killed the lair boss: Pontianak Lv. 30]

[you have conquered the level 28 Pontianak Lair]

Hitori dropped his head down, he walked over to the bed that was placed in the middle of the hospital room, ‘there was no need to sacrifice herself…’ Hitori thought in guilt.

While he was waiting for Reon to log in, the bright lights of the room turned on. Hitori lifted his head and glanced around him.

The walls had started moving, the glasses and dust on the floor started sweeping away. The blue light turned into a bright white light.

Hitori got up and glanced behind him, everything in the room started disappearing. He rushed up to the treasures before they would disappear too.

The walls stopped moving, the bed that was placed behind Hitori stood as it was. The lights dimmed once again.

Hitori glanced around. Reon had not logged in yet, and he was, in no way, going to log out before having a talk with her. Hitori walked back to the bed and placed himself on it.

He sensed movements around him once again. The bed he was sitting on lifted up in the sky, the ground beneath him started transforming into a hill-like slope.

And before Hitori realized what happened, he was sitting on a dark black color throne on the steep of a hill. He looked down and saw the slope of a twenty feet high hill.

He suddenly remembered something, he was not alone in the lair, not yet. The lair’s map popped in front of him. Unlike before, everything was visible to him with their labels and titles and descriptions of the monsters.

But he ignored all that and checked the position of the other party players that had come inside with him. There were no more than eight people left.

Hitori saw eight red dots coming towards the courtyard through the left path, the shortest path, yet it took the most time to clear.

The hill Hitori was sitting on top of, started moving once again. It did not stop till Hitori came out in a familiar place. An area where the left and the right path met, was the courtyard.

Hitori pulled his katana and kept it by his throne, then he pulled his gun and held it in his hand. Hitori raised his left hand to support his cheek.

The menu screen popped up, Hitori explored the settings till he found what he was looking for.

[split the lair with your new partner/guild member]

He selected that option, “split the Pontianak lair, sixty Leonine’s and forty mines.” Hitori ordered.

[processing…]

Multiple accounts with the name Leonine appeared in front of him.

[please select the player’s unique code]

And Hitori was not aware of her code.

[your friend Leonine has logged in]

Thankfully, the message appeared at the right time. He copied her unique code which appeared right beside her name and pasted it on the ‘Territory Splitting’ window.

[Successful, you now share a lair with Leonine]

[Tenancy in common: Leonine]

And the same message was sent to Leonine who had just logged in outside of the lair.

“There,” Hitori heard a voice, “he is right there!” the players started shouting.

“Look, at the top!”

“That dog… get him!”

A group of eight players came from the left side and entered the courtyard. Hitori was sitting at a distance of thirty meters and at a height of twenty meters.

[Boss Pontianak has been respawned]

A grin appeared on Hitori’s face. While the two shooters took their positions, an archer took her position. A long-ranged mage stood at a distance of twenty meters while samurais and magus started charging forward.

Hitori calmly pulled out a flask of potion and drank it empty. He looked down at the furiously chatting, shouting players who were only a few feet away from his hill.

“Fire!” a man raised his greatsword and ordered the mage, the archer, and the shooters to shoot down the throne hill.

Hitori got up from his seat, raised his hand, stretched it forward, and chanted, “ice wall” a thick wall of ice appeared right in front of the hill to defend against the arrows and long-distance spells.

But that was not enough to stop the angry samurais and magus. They easily broke through the ice wall, the whole wall collapsed due to their constant hammering.

Hitori calmly stared down at the players. Hitori stretched his arm, opened his arm. A beam of ice came out from his palm, Hitori moved his arm horizontally.

The samurais and magus stopped right where they were, they all took a step back instead. They all looked down at a thin line of ice in front of their feet.

“Mind your step,” Hitori started, “if you step the line… it will be considered as a RAID on this lair…”

They all lifted their heads at Hitori.

[Leonine has entered the lair]

“it is not just a lair actually…” Pontianak flew down from the sky and stood right beside Hitor’s throne, “it is our lair now,” and the guns cocked.

“Hah… man, you can not scare us with a dead ugly woman behind you,”

“…you…” Hitori looked down at one samurai, “called her ugly,” Pontianak disappeared from behind Hitori.

“Fuck…” claws pierced through the samurai who had talked ill of Pontianak.

The remaining seven players looked at Hitori at once, “get…. Get him!!” they shouted.

Cock. bang!

Shot!

A magus in the form of an ogre fell down and took another player with him. Hitori raised his eyes to see behind the dead ogre.

“Did not you hear him?” the gun cocked again, “it is our lair now,” Reon shot another player, but he did not die.

“Who the fuck is this woman?!” the mage turned around with his wand pointing at Reon.

The shooters had changed their target too. But before they would even do something, a dark grey spirit with its heads covered in a hood came from the right path and attacked one of the shooters.

Now a samurai, a magus, a mage, an archer, and a shooter were remaining only. Leonine walked up to the hill with ogres, Utsu, mummies, Mahas, and… wendigo following her.

“Please leave this lair right now,” Hitori sat back in his throne, “please…” the remaining five players gulped, “…and do not join a stranger’s party ever again.”

Reon giggled, “you are letting them go…” she shook her head.

“W- what happened to our leader?” the mage asked.

“Ryu killed him and betrayed us, of course!” the shooter shouted from behind.

“Are you leaving… or not?” Hitori asked.

“Fuck him, I am never joining a party unless I know the leader,”

“You should not join unless you know everyone,” Hitori muttered to himself with a sigh.

The injured samurai was the first one to log out from the game. Slowly, one by one, everyone started logging out from the game.

Reon sighed in relief and looked at Hitori, “our lair, huh?” she smirked at him, “and how generous of you to split a sixty percent share with me.”

Reon ordered all of the monsters to return back to their places and do their job. She threw away the gun she had obtained from a dead player’s drop.
