Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 50 - Stage 4

"Now if only the last two stages have plant type beasts like this" Klautz chuckled within himself. But he knew it was only his wishful thinking. He meant it as a joke and never expected the last two stages to having plant type beasts like this. Even for this stage, it was a miracle that this stage had one.

[Intelligence +3]

The system message popped as the beast's existence got wiped out.

"These areas are not suited to living for these kinds of beasts so maybe it was something exclusive to this stage," he thought.

Klautz put both of his hands over his mouth as he made a cone with them around his mouth.

"Okay everyone, hurry up. I am not gonna wait, we are to move to the next stage!" Klautz shouted. Verona turned her head to him while Bret seemed to ignore him as he prayed for the now-dead Kristie.

Verona's eyes couldn't let go of Klautz. Her pupils shook as her lips parted. 'How can a person be so merciless?' she thought.

"He did it again," she whispered. "Coming when it is already too late."

She wants to understand what this man is even thinking. In fictional books, psychotic characters were always the hype. But Klautz didn't seem psychotic to her. He just seemed unexplainable. What makes him wait for death? Does he found it funny? She had so many questions and she wanted to scream at the man. But she was too tired and felt defeated. Her shoulder drooped as she sighed. They have lost one more of their member yet again.

"Why is the world so unfair?" She stopped blaming Klautz and put all the blame on the world alone. Which was the first right thing she had done since meeting Klautz, even though she did it unknowingly. "I just wanted to live a peaceful life."

Even her breath turned gloomier, she resigned herself to her fate as she gave up. After all, all she ever wanted was secure life as she pursued what she loved to do. But that is never gonna happen in this world.

Klautz watched as Bret covered the dead body with a piece of monster carcass. With no silk or cotton on them, this was the best bet. Klautz furrowed his brows. He was trying to find out if he could conjure Kristie spirit.

"There is nothing this time. Maybe the requirements for spirit conjuring haven't been met."

Klautz nodded. Kristie was still stronger than the other members of the group. It didn't come off as a surprise to Klautz that the requirements weren't met.

Bret got up after he was done praying. He walked towards Klautz. Verona and Dant followed behind.

'In the next stage, it is going to be either Bret or Verona. Can I really do nothing?' Dant thought but nothing came to his mind. 'Should I just be satisfied that I can run out of this with my life? Verona… oh Verona'

His lips pursed. He looked towards Verona with an affectionate gaze as they kept walking. His gaze didn't pass unnoticed to Verona.

"Is something the matter? She asked."

Dant shook his head.

"There is nothing dear just me feeling sad at Kristie death."

"I see."

Verona nodded but in her mind, she was having different thought. She knew her spouse better than anyone else. The look in his eyes was of guilt. She was sure that it wasn't sadness but an extreme sense of guilt that dominated his mind. She could read him like an open book but Dant hadn't realized that.

Till now Klautz and his actions had been the one on her mind, she couldn't help it because Klautz had been the centre of attention of the group. The only anomaly… the only one who was unpredictable.

But now she had given up on it and had hearself completely focused on Dant. He was acting weirder than Klautz and she was sure of it. They are married for five years now, of course, she would know a lot about him.

"I hope everything is alright with him." Verona whispered to herself in a soundless breath.

They stopped close to Klautz as they prepared their hearts to move onto the next stage. They were getting more and more used to Klautz forcefully pulling them to the next stage.

Klautz nodded.

"Take us to the next stage."

*ping*

[Do you want to proceed to the next stage? (yes/no)]

"Yes"

[User has chosen to proceed to the next stage]

A blinding light originating from their status screens wrapped their body as they pulsated and disappeared. What was left behind in the room were just a huge pile of ash and a monster carcass that covered something extremely grotesque. Alas with the floor being hard and stony, it was impossible to dig a grave for the poor Kristie.

Klautz and the group were transported to the next stage. Klautz didn't even take a moment to disappear into the darkness as he used his Tossias's Demonic Spirit as a cloak.

"There he is gone again" Dant rolled his eyes. He thought that he knew well what was going to happen after this. A death again. Will, is it Verona or will it be Bret?

'To be honest it is better for Bret to die at this stage' After all who knows he might come across a fortuitous event and might find a way to save his wife.

"Let's see what we have in store this time," Bret sighed. His shoulder drooped. He too was tired just like Verona.

They weren't gripping their weapons and had lousy stances. They have seen enough already, the thought another ferocious beast that might wipe them out wasn't fazing them at all!  The only ones whose minds were running like horses were Klautz and Dant.

A sparkling light shone in the room. It grew bigger until it can't go bigger than that.

*poof*
