Secret Killer

Chapter 13 - Let's Go Home

After Leon drank the juice that had sleeping drugs in it, Russ patiently waited for Leon to pass out.

'Anytime now.' Russ tapped his feet on the ground as he couldn't hold his excitement.

'Where should I start first?' he thought. 'First, I will kill this boy in front of her to break her soul.'

As the time passed, Russ grew impatient.

Five minutes passed, but Leon and Layla were still eating.

'Why is he not passing out?!' Russ panicked. 'Did I mix the wrong drug?'

He looked at the drug bottle to confirm he hadn't messed up the drug, and much to his surprise, he had mixed the right drug.

'What's going on?!' Russ couldn't believe his eyes.

'I have a mixed half bottle of the drug, and that's enough even to take elephants out!'

Russ waited for ten more minutes, but still, nothing had happened.

Leon had developed immunity against poison and drugs. His body also had high resistance and tolerance from the inside.

'Screw it! I will just kill him.'

Russ grabbed the kitchen knife from the platform and hid it behind his back. Then, he approached Leon and Layla with a smile on his face and said, "Do you want anything for dessert? Ice cream, maybe?"

He stood behind Leon's chair and raised his hand to stab him.

STAB!

Layla couldn't believe her eyes.

GASP!

She gasped and choked on her breath.

When Russ tried to stab Leon, Leon stabbed the fork in Russ' neck and cut it open. Blood came gushing out of Russ' slit open neck.

Russ tried to stop the bleeding by placing his hand on his neck, but it was too late.

He fell to the ground with a thud and covered the floor with blood.

"I knew he was up to something," Leon muttered.

Leon stood up and walked to the refrigerator to see if there was any more food available to eat.

"Hmm!" He turned to Layla and asked, "Ice cream?"

Layla nodded and continued eating the food from Leon's plate.

Leon brought two ice-cream boxes from the fridge and placed them in front of Layla.

"There are two flavors. Chocolate and butterscotch, which one do you want?" Leon asked Layla.

Layla pondered for a while and said, "Chocolate."

Leon passed the butterscotch to Layla and took chocolate for himself.

Layla frowned her face and said, "I asked for chocolate."

"That is chocolate. Uhh… white chocolate."

Layla raised her brows and pointed her finger at the chocolate ice cream, and said, "So why is your butterscotch brown?"

"Because it's made of… black butter…"

Layla stared at Leon and squinted her eyes. Then, she stood up and snatched the chocolate ice cream from Leon.

"I have changed my mind. I will eat butterscotch, made from black butter," she said with a grin on her face.

Leon knitted his brows and started eating the white chocolate ice cream, which was actually butterscotch.

Layla puckered her lips and sat beside Leon with a disappointed look on her face.

"At least try to fight back," she muttered and puffed her cheeks.

Leon scooped some ice cream from Layla's box and ate it.

"Like this?"

Layla grinned and scooped ice cream from Leon's box.

"It tastes nothing like chocolate at all," Layla commented after eating the ice cream from Leon's box.

"Because it's not."

"Leon." Layla opened her mouth and asked Leon to feed her.

"You have your spoon, don't you?"

Layla raised her spoon and purposefully dropped it on the ground.

"I don't."

"Anh~" She opened her mouth and asked Leon to feed her.

SIGH!

Leon sighed and fed Layla.

They shared the ice cream with one spoon and finished it.

After resting on the couch for an hour and doing nothing, Leon patted Layla, who was sleeping on top of him.

"Let's go," he said.

"Go where?" Layla asked with a confused and puzzled look on her face.

"We have to leave. We can't stay here forever. And who knows, the doctor might have some relatives," Leon stated.

"We are not safe here," he added.

"But we are not safe outside in the city either," Layla remarked.

Leon placed his hand on Layla's shoulders and uttered in a calm voice: "Trust me, staying in an unknown house without knowing anything can be more dangerous than roaming outside in the city."

"But where will we go?"

Leon and Layla had nowhere to go, and they surely wouldn't opt to live on the street as homeless people.

"Let's go home," Leon uttered in a solemn voice.

"But you blew it up."

Layla thought Leon was talking about the apartment where they were imprisoned for ten long years.

"No. That shithole wasn't our home," Leon retorted with an emotionless voice. "I am talking about home. Our home. The home we used to live in."

"But…" Layla lowered her voice and muttered, "What if someone else is living there?"

"Doesn't matter. It is our home."

Layla quietly nodded and hugged Leon, "Let's go."

Leon walked to Russ' body and took out his phone from his pocket. However, it was locked.

Leon scanned the man's face to unlock it, but the prompt appeared on the screen: [Face unlock failed. Please keep your eyes open.]

"Tch!" Leon clicked his tongue and entered a random password.

[Wrong password. Four attempts left.]

Leon once again entered a random password.

[Wrong password. Three attempts left.]

He entered a random password again.

[Wrong password. Two attempts left.]

"Come on…"

Leon entered a random password again.

[Wrong password. One attempt left.]

After entering a random password the one last time, it still failed.

[Device locked for 30 seconds. Please try again.]

"Argh!" Leon groaned in anger.

Layla walked to Leon and asked, "What are you doing?"

"We need direction. The city must have changed so much in the last ten years. And we don't know our way home. So I am trying to see it on the map," Leon explained as he waited for 30 seconds to pass.

[0:03]

[0:02]

[0:01]

[0:00]

Leon once again entered a random password, and the phone was successfully unlocked.

"How did you know the password?!" Layla exclaimed with a surprised look on her face.

"Psychology. He was a doctor, so I can pretty much guess the password judging by his age and lifestyle," Leon replied nonchalantly.

Leon then opened the map and showed it to Layla.

"Can you remember the area? I am not too sure about it."

After searching and scrolling in the map for a while, Layla pointed her finger at a location and said, "It should be around here somewhere."

Leon stared at the screen for a while and smashed the phone on the ground.

"Let's go."

Leon had a photographic memory, so he could remember and recall everything he had once seen.

After leaving the house, Leon and Layla got into Russ' car and drove away. Although he was having a hard time handling the car, he made sure Layla had properly worn the seatbelt.
