Inside a cave in the Ratois Mountain, the old mage can be seen as usual. He was still riding on top of the 6th fusion rank grey wolf
His eyes have magic circles in them as he shared a vision with one of the grey wolves under his control
“The experiment has been delayed long enough. I can only take the risk and flee after obtaining the result” the old mage said to himself as he controlled all the grey wolves under him, both the crazed wolves and also the wolves under the 6th fusion rank magic beast
There were thousands of crazed wolves and tens of thousands of normal wolves. They are more than enough to deal with hundreds of rookie soldiers but for the sake of succeeding, the old mage still sends them all
The old mage himself also made his move as he rode his mount to come out of the cave he was dwelling in
He was followed by tens of thousands of wolves and he has one target which was the soldiers sent into this mountain to train!
At the foot of Ratois Mountain, the hundreds of soldiers aligned themselves as the captain of today’s drill finally arrived
She was a middle-aged mage that has a scar on her right eye. She might have been attacked by a magic beast in the past that created that wound
This mage was different from the low-ranking soldiers that wore military uniforms. She was clad in a mage robe that also offered defensive capabilities
Her face has a strict expression and just her presence alone brings a sense of oppression

“I would be here with you to help if ever an unexpected situation occurred but… I cannot save all of you. I am not omnipotent nor am I your babysitter. Your lives… each and every one of you would be responsible for your own lives”
The atmosphere has become solemn. These soldiers knew that more of them would die again this day. Such is the life of soldiers like them that are trained and given resources by the government in exchange for their services
“Yes, Captain!”
All the hundreds of soldiers replied in unison, their voices reverberating in the area
Jayla was about to send them on their own to the mountain when she raised her hand
Her ears twitched as her danger sense that was honed with her years of experience warned her
“Everyone, be ready, we have a company” Captain Jayla shouted, loud enough for every soldier to hear and they instantly entered a battle-ready state
From the trees around them, thousands of grey wolves baring their teeth emerged
The Captain hurriedly called out her mystic gems. One of them was purplish in color and the other was a white gem
“As expected of the 5th fusion rank mage – Captain Jayla” a voice said and when the soldiers looked at the source, they saw an old man riding on top of a grey wolf as large as a buffalo
The wolf’s aura was even more threatening than the aura that Jayla releases
Clearly, Jayla is weaker than that wolf not to mention the other thousands of wolves along with the old mage
“W-Wolf King!” Jayla exclaimed in shock. Her eyes and body trembled as cold sweat started to form on her forehead
If it was only her, she might have a chance of surviving by fleeing but… the young blood of the military… how can she leave them to die in here?
“H-how are you still alive?!” Jayla questioned in disbelief and the old mage simply smiled
“It was all thanks to my master. I lived thanks to him and now, I even have the chance to avenge myself” the Wolf King replied
Knowing that talking would not do anything, Jayla retrieved her military phone but even before she can send an SOS, the Wolf King already made his move
A large magic circle materializes in the ground, more than large enough to cover all the soldiers and they panicked a bit
Such a large magic circle… only mages that are out of their league can create it!
“[Spirit Field!]”
The magic circle didn’t do anything. It didn’t release any attack but that is more than enough for Jayla to know that the situation has gone out of hand
Human technologies aren’t omnipotent. Even a military-grade phone cannot send an SOS while in the middle of a magic circle as it would interfere with the signal
Without a backup, the situation has turned out for the worst. Jayla cannot defeat the 6th fusion rank grey wolf alone much less the other wolves and the Wolf King while protecting hundreds of people
“You never changed! What is this [Spirit Field] for?! Are you planning on using human souls for experiments again?” Jayla questioned and the Wolf King didn’t deny that
“People like us with not enough talent to reach the 6th rank or even the legendary 7th rank can only make extreme decisions to improve” the Wolf King replied as he signaled for all the wolves to kill all the hundreds of soldiers
“You dare!” Jayla raged, as she created several magic circles
One of the magic circles was below her feet and it materializes a large block of purple crystals that floats in the air
Jayla uses that crystal to fly as she approached the Wolf King. Only by killing him would they have the chance of survival
The other magic circles that were white in color followed Jayla as she approached the Wolf King
When she was close enough, the magic circles finally releases their magic as sound waves infused with mana were generated and targeted the old mage
“[Sound Smash!]”
The sound magic was very irritating to hear but that wasn’t all. Getting hit by that spell would result in a horrible consequences
It would be no different from receiving a ton of force on one’s body. It would crush the target’s flesh, organs, and bones
It’s literally sound magic with a smashing effect!
The Wolf King sneered as he controlled his mount and it dodged all the sound waves. The Wolf King himself was safe but the lower-ranking wolves are not the same
Their bodies collapsed as if they were smashed by a giant boulder. Their flesh, bones, and organs bursts into a bloody pulp
Even their mothers wouldn’t be able to recognize them with the fate that they had suffered
Jayla didn’t rest as she casts more spells, hoping that they would be enough to kill the Wolf King
“[Crystal Shards!]”
Jayla stretched her hands as a purplish magic circle was formed. The magic circle releases a barrage of sharp purple crystals
The release rate was no different than a Gatling gun!
The grey wolves that were hit by those crystals all died with holes in their bodies. The might of Jayla’s spell is more than enough to kill these low-level grey wolves
However, the 6th rank fusion wolf was different from them. It opened its mouth, generating a magic circle and a black beam of energy was released
That black beam is no different from a beam of death and Jayla controlled the large block of crystal she was standing on to fly to the side to dodge
At first, she thought she was successful but she sensed danger coming from behind her
The black beam actually made a U-turn!
In a panic, Jayla cast a spell that formed a large crystal shield in front of her but it didn’t last long
The power of 5th and 6th rank entities are just too far apart! Even a single attack already reduced Jayla into a sorry state
