A soul-type spell is particularly strong against people that are below the caster’s rank mainly because of the difference in soul’s quality

Rezen’s power comes from the [Link] effect of his mystic gems and tattoos. His soul is still at the same level as his rank. If he let the soul-type spell affect him, even if he survived against 5th fusion rank mages in the past, he might still die from a 4th fusion rank mage

This is the advantage of the soul-type spells and times like this needed Rezen to use one of his numerous mutated crops

This time, it was a yellowish brown mystic gem and it is of the sand element

Fierce Soul kicked the ground hard and a yellowish brown magic circle with a diameter of ten meters formed

The soil instantly changes into grains of sand that moved under Fierce Soul’s control

The sand went to intercept the Nightmare Crows and kill them, knocking the surrounding trees in the process

Without a choice, Fierce Soul controlled the remaining sand. They uprooted and covered the surrounding trees before using them to smash Rezen

Rezen easily killed Fierce Soul since the man underestimated him. After all, common sense dictates that a 3rd fusion rank mage cannot defeat a 4th fusion rank mage

Fierce Soul letting his guard down was his downfall. As for his underlings, even if they take the Nightmare Crows seriously, it doesn’t matter

The sheer number of the crows easily tore them apart and they weren’t even able to offer that much of a resistance

With Fierce Soul dead, the old mage also regained consciousness. The [Hellscape] spell was automatically deactivated and the first thing he had seen was Rezen surrounded by crows

As a result, the old mage hurriedly moved to where his Young Master was. He stood in front of Maze to protect him

“Who are you?” The old mage questioned. He can feel that Rezen is a rank lower than him but Fierce Soul and the others were dead

He thinks that Rezen might be hiding his real power using a spell

“Nothing, don’t mind me” Rezen replied in a dismissive tone

“Y-you’re that mage from the military!” Maze that already recovered exclaimed in surprise

“Huh? I’m not from the military though I know some people there” Rezen said and he was reminded of his good brother Claude

He wondered how Claude is doing now. He can only hope that he was still alive and living well

“I saw your video of killing grey wolves with [Sun Blast]. How come you are already this strong?” Mace asks, he was really surprised

With the help of the special spirit plants that his father bought for him, he reached the 2nd fusion rank in less than two months since he focused on learning magic theories
