“I’m sorry, what are these again?” Macy asked, her eyes blinking rapidly as if she just misheard something
“Metal Potatoes. M-E-T—-”
“I know how to spell!” Macy exploded. She was already not feeling good because of the unfair contract yet Rezen is still being annoying
Potatoes? What are potatoes? How could the block of metal in front of her possibly be potatoes? What kind of potato is that?
“Right…” Rezen replied while narrowing his eyes at Macy as if he didn’t believe her at all
The woman can feel the nerves on her head twitching. If not for Rezen possessing the Preston Family’s Token of Gratitude she might have already crushed him with the help of gravity
“So… these things… are you saying that they are potatoes?”
“Why would I even call them Metal Potatoes if they are not potatoes?” Rezen asked back
“Grrrr…” Macy can’t help but grit her teeth in anger. But in the end, she can only glare at Rezen with a red face without being able to do anything

“Hmm, what’s that?” Rezen asked curiously
“Fire Stones. It can be used on many things but are mostly used as raw materials for mystic items” Macy replied nonchalantly causing Rezen to raise his eyebrows
“Mystic Items?”
As far as Rezen is aware, mages don’t use many weapons or items which is actually what he finds a bit abnormal
The most that mages use was a defensive robe and cold weapons like swords. Those weapons only serve as a catalyst for a mage’s spell
This is the first time he heard the term mystic items
There are various materials in this world, why can’t they create some weapons using the materials that could be found?
“Because only mages at the 7th rank could use these items even if we create them” Macy replied, her focus was still on the metal potato that she heated up and turning it into its liquid state
“Woah…” Macy exclaimed after seeing the liquified metal as it looks quite pretty with its metallic gray luster
“7th rank? Could you tell me more about them?” Rezen asked curiously. Up until now, he doesn’t know much about those legendary mages
Just what makes them so different from mages at the 6th rank and below?

“When did I ever become your teacher?” Macy grumbled but she still gave an answer

“That resonance to put into perspective is the world giving us permission to create a supernatural phenomenon. The stronger the resonance is, the bigger supernatural phenomenon we could create”
“Our magic circles on the other hand dictate what supernatural phenomenon would be created”
“Think of our mystic gems as a ticket for an amusement park and our magic circles as what we chose to ride inside”
Rezen listened attentively. Although what Macy said is already something that he knew, it still deepened his understanding to some extent
Putting things in perspective made things clearer
“However, from what I know, mages at the 7th rank are different. They can create supernatural phenomena with just a thought and the level is not something that even I, a 6th fusion rank mage can contend”
“Those mages even with just a thought could erase an entire city. Even just the fluctuation of their emotions might cause an earthquake. That’s why, as much as possible, they have to stay inside their Blessed Land”
“Mystic Items can only be used by mages above 6th fusion rank even if those below it can create them since 7th rank mages can directly send their power on these items. These magic beasts aren’t strong individually but they are high in number. If a person wants to hone their combat skills, this would be a good place to do so
The magic beasts might be a lot but they are also on the weaker side. They have a higher chance of escaping from them rather than a single strong magic beast
Inside the forest, some people can be seen along with the corpses on the ground
In total, there were five corpses and they are either at the 2nd or 3rd rank fusion rank
Around the five corpses were two people. One old and one that is young
“Y-Young Master…. r-run!” The old mage said to a young man with red hair
“Heh… who said that you can run?” One of the people opposite the two said in a playful manner
This side of mages has ten members in total. One of them is at the same rank as the old mage, both of them are at the 4th fusion rank
As for the other nine people with him, all of them are in the 3rd rank
The old mage and the young man only have the collective strength of a 4th and 2nd fusion rank mages. They are no match for the power of the people that wants them dead

The young man was none other than Maze Ceres of the Ceres Family. The one and only son of Fierce Fire

However, of all of his guards, only one remained. The others were all killed by the enemies and from the look of things, even Maze would die soon enough
“Young Master, just listen to me. Go and run!” The old mage said and Maze gritted his teeth before he attempted to escape
Unfortunately, escaping might be impossible

“[Tremor!]”
“[Paralysis Needle!]”
The nine 3rd fusion rank mages were not just for display
One of them uses the [Tremor] spell to make Maze lose his balance. Another one fired a [Paralysis Needle] that Maze failed to dodge as he hasn’t recovered his balance yet
The last one used the [Vine Whip] spell to hold Maze in his place and prevent him from escaping
The old mage Rem of course tried to help his Young Master but he has his own enemy to take care of
