Chapter 791: Seven Years of Training

The scenery on the immortal mountain was divine, but sadly, Lin Jin didn’t have anyone to enjoy it with.

Beside the Heaven’s Foundation Stone, inside a cave on a cliff, Lin Jin stared into the distance. Ever since coming here with Tianzun, Lin Jin had been wandering the immortal mountain every day in search of Heaven’s Foundation Stone fragments. Just like that, seven years passed.

Lin Jin had considered seven years to be fairly long. He practically ventured to every nook and cranny on the immortal mountain. And if he relied only on his two feet, forget seven years, he wouldn’t even be able to finish searching the mountain in seventy years.

Lin Jin blew a whistle and a steed galloped over. The horse was entirely white with a ring of golden fur on each hoof. It had a strong build and was undoubtedly a valuable creature on the mainland.

Yet, wild horses such as this one could be found everywhere on the immortal mountain.

Though, even if it was a wild horse, it was one from the immortal mountain. Hence, the creature was Rank 7 and the highest leveled horse Lin Jin had ever seen.

Lin Jin jumped onto the horse and it cleverly carried him away. In just a few moments, they covered more than a hundred miles and arrived beside a mountain stream.

Despite calling the place a mountain stream, it was quite huge and the water fell from a height of more than one thousand feet. It would have taken Lin Jin one whole day to travel here on foot but he managed to arrive shortly on the horse.

In his seven years of research, Lin Jin was sure that the immortal mountain had a mysterious power that could raise a beast’s strength. The source of this power might just be a Heaven’s Foundation Stone fragment.

Over the past seven years, Lin Jin had also improved immensely in beast appraising. He had read back every single description on the beasts he recorded, memorized them, and then practiced the various appraisal methods, gaining experience and improving himself day by day.

Because he was aware that aside from taking the Heaven’s Foundation Stone fragment from the immortal devouring beast, he also had to give up the one inside him.

And this fragment was the Museum of Deadly Beasts.

In other words, Lin Jin had to give up the museum eventually to mend heaven and save the world. Hence, he tried instead to rely on his own appraisal skills and not use the museum.

Lin Jin even announced the closure of the Visitation Hall several years ago and stopped entering it with Curator’s identity.

No meeting would last forever and the same went for the Museum of Deadly Beasts.

Lin Jin knew he only got to this point in life thanks to the museum but the museum couldn’t be there for him forever. It was almost time to say goodbye.

He had used his own methods to tame this Rank 7 white horse instead of using the museum’s strength. And he was proud of this achievement.

Below the mountain stream was a pool. Though, with the size of it, it looked more like a huge lake.

He only came here because he had discovered a Heaven’s Foundation Stone fragment here long ago but had been unsuccessful in retrieving it.

The reason was simple.

Right now, Lin Jin was standing beside this massive pool and the initially calm water surface began to bubble as if it was boiling.

“Go and hide,” Lin Jin instructed the white horse. It neighed and kicked its front legs before running away obediently.

Lin Jin reached for the Clear Wind Sword and pulled it out. Holding the sword, he stood facing the boiling pool.

The next instant, a massive creature emerged from the pool—a flood dragon with three heads.

The flood dragon was clearly powerful, exuding an overwhelming aura. Just the size of one tooth was bigger than Lin Jin, and yet, its aura couldn’t surpass Lin Jin’s despite him being so tiny.

In seven years, Lin Jin had maximized his blood contract cultivation until he reached the ninth realm. At this level, he could use his pet beasts’ powers to thoroughly enhance himself.

Moreover, Lin Jin had three types of pet beasts. With the enhancement of all three, Lin Jin already surpassed immortals even though he wasn’t one.

As the three-headed flood dragon stared at Lin Jin, there was rage and hints of fear in its six eyes. The last time, it had managed to chase him away with spells but the man surprisingly returned.

The flood dragon’s three mouths opened together to fire water pillars. The pressure of these water blasts felt like water blades slicing at Lin Jin.

Lin Jin was unafraid. He swung his sword and light blades flashed forward. A loud sound followed and all three water pillars shattered.

Not only that but the Sword Energy continued upward, beheading the flood dragon’s left and right heads. Blood splattered everywhere and the remaining head looked frightened. The flood dragon immediately attempted to escape.

However, it froze in its attempt the next instant. A long sword was now pointed right in front of its eyeball and the flood dragon was intelligent enough to know that any reckless movement would result in the blade piercing through its eye.

Lin Jin was holding the sword while standing on top of a wave that kept flowing beneath his feet. He had used the Four Ocean Gourd’s powers.

“Trying to run? I let you get away last time, so do you think I’ll let you use the same trick on me twice?” Lin Jin said coldly. Then, he patted the Four Ocean Gourd and icy aura flowed out. Lin Jin stomped on the wave below his feet and the wave rapidly froze. Cold air continued spreading down and around, freezing the water until half of the pool was sealed in ice.

The flood dragon was trembling uncontrollably but Lin Jin didn’t relent.

“I asked to borrow something from you the last time and you got up and ran away while we were having a nice conversation. You ended up making me search everywhere for you so you can forget about running this time. Let’s make this quick. If you want to give it to me, you may. If you don’t want to give it to me, you still have to,” Lin Jin threatened like a domineering bandit.

Despite its rage, the flood dragon dared not retort.

By now, the entire pool had frozen over so it couldn’t move at all.

It didn’t dare to either.

This mortal was much too fierce and the sword in his hand was practically indestructible. That aside, the man had a spectacular aim too.

The Sword Energy had sliced through the thinnest and weakest scales of flood dragons.

How did he know where those scales were?

The flood dragon didn’t understand.

Lin Jin swung his blade, cutting open the flood dragon’s head. Lin Jin stuck an arm inside and retracted it quickly. Stepping back, he then jumped away, falling onto the back of a white horse.

“Don’t worry, you won’t die even if I take this. It might just take you a few years to recuperate. And stop looking so pitiful. Your two heads will grow back in a few days and I won’t come looking for you anymore.” Having said that, Lin Jin rode away.

Done!

Lin Jin smiled at the walnut-sized fragment in his hand.

Truth be told, if it were a duel of strength, Lin Jin couldn’t possibly win against that three-headed dragon. The latter was a Rank 8 fierce beast after all. But if strategy was involved and he could target its weakness and catch it off guard, he could win with minimal effort despite being weaker.

Lin Jin couldn’t match up to it the last time, but since he came prepared this time, he had the upper hand.

The flood dragon didn’t know all that. Lin Jin had seen that despite it having strength, it didn’t know how to use it.

However, Lin Jin wasn’t aiming for its life. It took great effort for the flood dragon to gain this much cultivation and it hadn’t done anything evil. So if Lin Jin could afford to let it live, he would.

In these seven years, Lin Jin traveled the entire immortal mountain on the white horse and managed to gather all of the fragments scattered in this area. Aside from the one inside the immortal devouring beast, there were practically no more stray fragments.

Just then, flames erupted into the sky from a far distance. Lin Jin patted the horse’s head and it stopped moving.

Looking into the distance, the sky had now been seared crimson by those flames.
