Little Miss Witch: Revenge of the Tainted Angel

It was sometime later that Li Xiuying found herself sitting outside the emergency department with Lan Jinyao, waiting for the doctor to come back and break the news of Lin Meirong's pregnancy. She didn't expect that her husband's infidelity would come up to this. 

This not only made their situation more complicated than it already was, but this would also become a solid reason for her to accept the divorce that Mu Jianyu was asking from her. 

 She knew she wasn't a perfect wife but Li Xiuying had tried her best to become a good wife to Mu Jianyu. They didn't immediately start as passionate lovers at the first meeting but they were good friends. 

At work, she and Mu Jianyu had acted like nothing ever happened even though their divorce was hanging in the air as they resumed both of their responsibilities at the company. She kept herself busy at work and tried hard not to think of him and Lin Meirong and the fact that he wanted to end their marriage without revealing the truth. And then, at the end of the day, she had to go back to the desolate penthouse where nightmares plagued her through the night, repeating the harsh words Mu Jianyu said to her. 

Now, Li Xiuying could do nothing in this situation except to give her husband the freedom he was asking for. 

Lin Meirong was pregnant, and so was she, but this doesn't mean that Mu Jianyu would change his mind even if he knew she was also carrying their child. 

Li Xiuying made a mental calculation and could assume that she got pregnant the day he last touched her. However, the next day, her suspicion of his extramarital affair started. 

Her nose caught a scent of a woman's perfume from his clothes after he came home from a five-day business trip and initially thought that he was just being passionate that night but his behavior had started to change after that. Her instincts were telling her that Mu Jianyu was having an affair but she kept denying the thoughts until Shen Zichen told her what he'd seen. 

The director of the film walked towards her and called her. 

"Lady Li, are you sure you want to be here? I'm sorry, we didn't expect something like this to happen." 

The filming was already halfway through but they still needed Lin Meirong to shoot her scenes and this would surely delay their schedule. What's more, the trouble happened on the very day Li Xiuying visited their set. 

"It's alright. I'm sure no one expected this to happen. How's Lin Meirong?" She asked as the director led her inside to where Lin Meirong was. She noticed the hesitation on his actions and arched a brow at him. "Is there a problem?" 

When the director didn't respond, Li Xiuying turned towards the doctor standing next to the hospital bed. He was checking the lab results that just came back. Meanwhile, Lin Meirong was pale, the side of her face was sweaty. She made a low moan in her sleep, oblivious to Li Xiuying and the doctor's presence. On the other side of the bed, her assistant was sitting nervously in her chair. She avoided Li Xiuying's gaze when their eyes met. 

"How is she?" Li Xiuying repeated herself. She needed to confirm it before she made any decisions. 

The doctor who seemed to be in his late forties greeted her with a polite smile before turning his head to look at Lin Meirong. 

"I don't know how to say this… but Miss Lin is pregnant. She had spotting which could be considered as a normal thing during pregnancy. However, because it was accompanied by sharp pain, we had to give her medicine to stop the bleeding and save her baby. Miss Lin would need a lot of rest and shouldn't be subjected to any stress." He confirmed everyone's suspicion. Lin Meirong was truly with a child. 

"She's pregnant?" The director exclaimed. "I didn't know Miss Lin was seeing someone until today." 

He was after all a replacement for Director Yao and was new to the filming crew so he wasn't aware of the gossip about Lin Meirong's wealthy lover.

Li Xiuying thought that she was mentally prepared for this, but she truly wasn't. The doctor's words were enough to leave her stunned. For a moment, she tried to figure out if she heard him right but he couldn't be mistaken as he passed the blood test to prove Lin Meirong's pregnancy. 

"I supposed Miss Lin isn't aware of this either. She'll have to be careful if she plans to keep the baby." 

Of course, the doctor knew that Lan Jinyao and Lin Meirong were both actresses although they were not that popular yet. Their image and reputation in public could easily be destroyed by an unwanted pregnancy. Many new and popular actresses had aborted their own babies and chose their soaring career instead. The doctor wouldn't be surprised if Lin Meirong chooses her career this time. 

"I see. Then let her decide about this herself." Li Xiuying nodded and returned the result to the doctor and went outside, ignoring the confused look she was getting from the doctor and the director. 

Lan Jinyao bade goodbye to them and followed after Li Xiuying, shutting the door behind her softly. She found Li Xiuying leaning her back against the wall at the secluded part of the stairway, looking up at the ceiling as if she was trying to stop her tears from falling. 

"Lan Jinyao, what should I do? I think I've reached my limit this time. I'm really tired." 

The younger woman couldn't find the right words to console her breaking heart. Lan Jinyao wrapped her arms around Li Xiuying and cried for her instead.. She knew that no words could help ease the pain Li Xiuying was feeling right now.
