Chapter 39: Kota’s Confidence

Apart from Yan and Heavenly Punishment, all the other forces in New York were secretly investigating Kota’s background.

They still could not get accurate information no matter which sources of information they got.

This not only made Kota seem even more mysterious, but it also made the fictitious Imperial Group more terrifying.

It was because of this that the disgraced Heavenly Punishment became even more cautious, and Yan to rethink their strategy.

There were also some smaller companies staying in the shadows of the large corporations eager to get to know Kota, hoping to get protection from Imperial Group.

Among them was Yunye.

Yunye had originally conspired with Yan to annex Ying, but now Ying had an even bigger backer.

Yunye’s spies were the best in the business, their skills unrivaled.

“Our sources cannot find any information about Imperial Group.”

“The only information we have got is hearsay.”

Glass was not only collecting information about Imperial Group but also aware that other companies had known little about Imperial Group.

Since hearsay was the only source of information, perhaps the information was genuine. Who knows?

“What are you waiting for? Speak up!”

Glass could not wait any longer, his eyes lighting up.

Now that they had the backing of Imperial Group, the first party that Catherine and Moanke would deal with would be Yan and Yunye.

He would never allow Yunye to call into such a quagmire.

No matter what price he had to pay, he had to contain Kota.

“I need to know how to contact Kota. Do it quickly.”

Looking at Glass’s panicked expression, those people around him realized the seriousness of the situation.

His granddaughter Catherine had publicly annulled her engagement.

There were still many Coster’s minions waiting to be purged within the group.

He was old and struggling to sort things out.

He squinted as Catherine curled her hand around Kota’s arm, walking into the courtyard.

She was no longer as cold as before.

Instead, she now looked happier as a woman.

“Grandpa, don’t be angry with me. This could be a blessing in disguise.”

Moanke looked up at Catherine and then continued to get some shut-eye.

“A blessing in disguise? You and I both know what and how Heavenly Punishment would do. When something like this happens, they are bound to take action. Do you think Ying will be safe?”

As expected of a veteran, he had seen what Kota could do before.

But since he was his half a grandson-in-law now, he had to sound Kota out to see what he was thinking.

How could Kota not know it? He let out a smile.

“Mr. Moanke, as the saying goes, every man may meet one stronger than himself. We shouldn’t set our eyes only on New York. Don’t you think so?”

“You have a point, there are many forces stronger than Heavenly Punishment. But what does it have to do with Ying?”

Moanke was sure that the two of them were close at the party, but Kota had never clarified his position.

Knowing the old man’s thoughts, Kota was malapert.

After all, if he really married Catherine later, this old man Moanke would be his grandfather-in-law.

Kota was, after all, a junior. He came up and squatted down beside Moanke’s chair.

This thoughtful gesture of Kota touched Catherine’s heart.

“I know that you still have doubts, Mr. Moanke. Since you have entrusted Catherine to me, Ying’s business will be my business. How can I sit idly by?” Kota said as he held Moanke’s hand.

“I haven’t agreed to the relationship between you two.”

Moanke shook off Kota’s hand. Seeing this, Catherine became anxious.

She squatted down beside Moanke and used her puppy dog eyes on him. “Grandpa!”

Looking at his granddaughter, whom he had brought up since she was small, he was helpless when it came to her engagement with Heavenly Punishment.

Now that things had come to such a pass, he could only compromise.

After all, she had grown up.

“Grandpa is joking with us,” Kota said.

The two of them were amused. Even Moanke, who had been keeping a straight face, almost couldn’t help but smile.

He would not ask for anything else if he could have these two grandchildren by his side in his old age.

Moanke studied Kota and said something shocking to both of them, “If you are sure that you want to marry Catherine, then tell me who Imperial Group is.”
