Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

1 A New Light

“True Spirit Spear Chastiefol, third form, drop of resurrection!”

A man wearing red-colored battle gear shouted as the golden spear above his head immediately turned into a small golden flower.

The flower was twice the size of Rafflesia, the largest flower on earth. It’s golden petals hung above the ground.

A drop of golden-colored nectar dropped down from the flower’s petals onto the ground and a gentle white colored glow surrounded the area.

Three people suddenly appeared in the place where the drop had fallen. They then turned towards the man with a thankful expression.

“Thank the light that we have Ash with us.” One of the newly resurrected party members sighed as he and the other two people bowed down a little.

The man who was wielding the spear smiled at this. He already knew that they would throw their lives away for him.

After all, they knew that he could resurrect them again.

“True Spirit Spear Chastiefol, second form, judgment of sky.” The man said again as the flower turned into thousands of sky blue daggers.

The daggers hovered above the man with a dangerous aura surrounding. Despite that, the party members had grim expressions on their face.

“But can we defeat the fallen archangel?” A sword wielding individual said while looking up at the sky.

Flying high above the ground was the creature that had killed three of his comrades.

Between the dark clouds, was a man with glowing eyes. His white hair were dirty and fell down to his knees. His emotionless black eyes gazed at the people standing below him.

His white robes were dirty too and were torn down to rags. There were two white wings coming out from his back and had torn most of the robes to shreds.

But even from a distance, Ash and his teammates could see the black color slowly spreading through the wings.

The man was the angel that had left the light of heaven. He had fallen from his position as an archangel.

Ash knew all of this was because he and his party were on a quest to subdue the fallen angel.

Like a protagonist sure of his victory, Ash smiled and directed the thousands of blades flying in the sky towards the fallen angel.

They whipped through the air as the fallen angel growled and raised his right hand in the direction of the daggers.

The fallen angel shot an energy blast but the daggers parted away from its path on Ash’s command.

‘Wish I was in his place.’ A white haired man standing alongside the party members thought with a sigh as he looked at the blades in the sky. His grip on the three and a half feet long lance in his hands tightened.

If only he hadn’t picked this stupid item.

A weapon that turned him into a healer that could only heal himself. What was the point of such a healer who could not learn anything except healing himself.

But Ash had taken him in party since he knew that the white-haired man could regenerate his health every time he got hit.

Just the perfect meat shield in one of the top ten players party.

“Hey shield, go block that hit.” Ash’s words brought the white haired man back to reality as he looked at the fallen angel.

And his eyes widened.

It looked as though it was preparing some kind of a super move. One that definitely looked like the sp*rit bomb from Dragon Bomb Z, except it was black in color and was sucking things towards it like a miniature black hole.

“I don’t think even I can survive that…” He protested as he raised his lance in defense. It was not gonna block Ash’s attacks but it was better than standing still.

“You think I care about that?” Ash suddenly grinned which sent chills down man’s spine. “True Spirit Spear Chastiefol, seventh form, guardian of the gates!”

‘Well, f*ck…’ The man cursed at the last second as the dagger turned into a giant moose with large antlers.

It came charging behind the man and sent him flying towards the fallen angel.

[ -1500 hit points ]

The game notification rang in his ears as he went flying towards the black spirit bomb.

[ Player Zack has been swallowed by the void of infinity. ]

[ Warning! Hitpoints below 100 ]

[ Player Zack has regenerated 50% health through the use of the mythical artifact, Gugnir. ]

There it was. The thing that made him one of the strongest healers in the entire world of Hikari. Gugnir, the lance that could heal only its user.

Depending on the level of the user and the level of the job class, Gugnir could almost regenerate the user’s entire health in an instant.

[0)ᴠᴇʟ This skill, however, had a very long cool-down time. And Zack didn’t have that time.

[ Warning! Hitpoints below 100 ]

‘Yeah, I know that. I can’t survive this…’ Zack’s vision suddenly went blank. He could no longer see or hear anything as one by one, all of his senses vanished.

[ Player Zack has died. ]

This notification rang in his mind as well as Ash’s mind. The former could no longer do anything while the latter smiled.

[ The void of infinity has been subdued. ]

This notification made Ash and his party members smile as they went forward and started their battle with the fallen angel.

‘But why am I not waking up?’ Floating alone in the darkness, the white haired man no longer knew what was happening in the game or the real world.

His consciousness was hovering in the middle of the darkness as though he was still in the void of infinity.

But the game system had clearly told him that he had died in-game. He should have woken up in the real world a few seconds after his character died. But he was still hovering in the void of infinity.

“Is that what you think this place is? A mere super move from a character in a game? The things a human thinks after dying are unbelievable.” A voice suddenly resounded in the Darkness as Zack could no longer see anything.

But the voice’s words resounded in his mind.

‘I am… dead?’

“You finally realized that. Though I wonder how you will react now. Go on and entertain me. After all, I hardly get to meet humans nowadays.” The voice sounded amused but Zack didn’t reply.

He was dead. His life was over and he could no longer do anything about it.

.

..

It was perfect.

“Hey, whoever you are, can you turn my consciousness off? I would love to float here infinitely.” He asked the voice and got a snort in response.

“You sound way to calm for someone who just died. As for your question, I was thinking of letting you live again.” The voice chuckled.

“A chance to live again and that too in that pathetic life? I would rather do backflips here than go back there.”

“And why is that?”

“I earn less than 1k despite being in one of the top ten players party. I don’t have friends or family. The person closest to me is dead because I didn’t have the money to pay for her cancer treatment. I live in a small place and survive on the game that now controls the entire world. Sure there is no problem in living like that.”

For some reason, Zack told the voice about all the things he hated, and on top of those things was the very game that killed Zack. Hikari, the world’s first VRMMORPG created by the founders of Orange, Doogle, Miscosoft, and Telsa.

The game had started as a side project from a group of Japanese game developers before the founders of the world’s biggest tech companies had got interested in it.

And from there on, it had moved from being a side project to something that ruled the world’s entire economy.

“But who said that you would go back at the exact same place?” The voice asked with a snort as Zack was taken back.

Why was an unknown voice talking to him? Do people hallucinate after they die or perhaps he never died and was hallucinating while being fully awake?

“Ah, there it is. The things a human mind will think to make sure that everything stayed in the bounds of reality it thought of to be the world.” The voice chuckled as Zack felt his vision suddenly returning.

“You are not hallucinating Zack. You are just experiencing the reality of the world. That’s all.” The voice said as bright light illuminated his vision.

“Keep in mind that this is not some normal light. This is a new light for you. A light that will guide you. Not literally though.”
