Chapter 482 - Golden Dice

Chapter 482: Golden Dice

"Oh? An ability similar to [Erase Existence] spell?" Charles frowned as he sensed an abnormality and then asked in confusion.

"If anyone who touched the 'Nightmare' Box were affected by that strange spell, why Bryson is still alive? He must have touched that box when stealing it from the Holy See, right?"

Melody tersely acknowledged his words and answered with a nod.

"I have a slight suspicion that something must have happened to Bryson, Your Majesty. He might've evaded his death but was still affected by the power to some extent. Otherwise, he would've returned to Druid's Guild's headquarters to take revenge on them for their betrayal, right?"

"Still, that didn't explain why Deceivers organization sent their members to different kingdoms to look for the sealed 'Nightmare' Box." Charles shook his head in disapproval and then pondered.

"I think Bryson might also have died during that time, but someone else must have replaced his position and is still acting as the head of the Deceivers organization. That's why this new Bryson doesn't know the location of this sealed 'Nightmare' Box."

Meanwhile, Melody widened her eyes in surprise and soon said with a frown.

"I suspect that this new Bryson also knew nothing about the two organizations' cooperation. Maybe a puppet leader?"

"It seems so. Well, let's see if Irzoch sent us some useful information."

Saying so, he straightened his back and shifted his attention towards the bunch of letters.

Although more than thousands of letters came from different parts of the world, Charles picked up the most important ones and brought them to his room earlier.

He searched those letters for a while and soon picked up the one from Irzoch. But unlike the other letters, this one appeared bulk.

'She also sent us a book?'

He hurriedly tore the red sealed cover and soon took out a letter and a black-covered book from it. Then, he shifted his attention towards the letter and started to read.

In that letter, Irzoch mentioned that she had visited the 'Brigade of Skin Imps' organization two months ago and requested the higher-ups to upgrade her bloodline. Unfortunately, they rejected her request and told her that it wasn't worth risking her life.

After some investigation, she learned that only the near-death individuals or old-aged people could upgrade their bloodline and become a Rank-5 Demon Sorcerer. She also mentioned that many of those who ranked up lost their mind and went berserk!

'So, this phenomenon was not only to the Class-Gem path members but also Warlocks, huh.' Charles thought to himself.

She even attached a demonic ritual book along with the letter and asked Charles to help to look into it. Then, Irzoch told him that she had gathered more information about the Deceivers' organization using money and learned that it only had dozens of members. Each of them had a unique identity, and they were much more secretive than any other organization. She also added that becoming a Deceivers organization member was an impossible task.

"...Two hundred years ago, there seemed to be more than hundreds of members working for that organization, My Lord. But later, it got shrunken to dozens of numbers. I highly suspect that something must have happened during that time, which caused this reformation. I also saw a mission about the Deceivers organization posted on the Brigade of Skin's mission board. It's a mission to find someone named 'Luis' from Deceivers organization and help the client to catch this guy alive. It means someone other than us also gathering information about the Deceivers' organization and seems to be plotting..."

But what surprised him was that Irzoch took the job related to the Deceivers organization and was waiting for the appointed time. She also mentioned the exact appointment time and even told her about the client's identity.

'Not bad.'

He nodded inwardly and shifted his attention towards the next letter.

"From Count Pierce, huh..." He read the letter carefully and checked if any important information was there. Once he found it was just an official greeting letter, he tossed it into the nearby dustbin and moved towards the next one. He read the other letters for the next few minutes and finally shifted his attention towards Melody.

"You can go back and continue your job. Meanwhile, I'll think of a way to take that sealed 'Nightmare' Box without touching." Although he could still use wisdom power to take the box, he didn't dare try it. He wanted to confirm a few things before taking any reckless decision.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Melody bowed her head, turned around, and walked towards the bluish portal that appeared out of nowhere.

She entered the portal in a second and disappeared from there, leaving Charles alone in the bedroom.

"What should I do now?" He asked himself while blinking his right eye and soon clicked his tongue in annoyance.

'It seems I need more information about that sealed 'Nightmare' box.'

Shaking his head, he took out the star constellation book from his space ring, placed it on the wooden table, and searched for something in the rack. Soon, he took out a wooden quill and ink book from it and put them on the table. Following that, he flipped the star constellation book and soon stopped at the mysterious empty page. After that, he wrote his personal information and then thought about a clue regarding System Cube's upgrade.

The only answer he got from his future self was blank visions filled with complete darkness for the first few times.

But during the seventeenth time, the mysterious twelve marks shone in golden light and pulled his consciousness somewhere.

He opened his right eye a second later and soon noticed that he was currently in an enclosed dungeon.

The dungeon walls were formed of dark grey brick, and the stone floor was covered with dirty dust and loose dirt. The floor was so cold that the color of the dirt seemed to have changed to dull yellow. Charles then noticed the black, iron-barred doors of the dungeon. One of them had a small, square, and shiny glass window on the top, and light beams were coming out of it.

He also saw a griffon symbol engraved on the iron-barred door and memorized it in an instant.

Charles then stepped forward and soon appeared in front of the iron-barred door. But just as he tried to open the door, his hand passed right through it, and soon he found himself inside the dungeon cell.

At that moment, he saw a brown-beared man in his late 70s laid on the dirty dust with a painful look on his face and appeared tired. But what caught Charles's attention was the thing that lay next to his box.

It was a golden dice with one to six dots on different sides, and it glowed in bright light.

'A luck-based artifact? So, my upgraded system cube will have a luck-based ability, huh?' A surprise flashed on his face.

Without any delay, he looked at the surroundings and started to gather if he would get any information. He soon saw a cross symbol with a sword on the man's torn dress and was about to take a deep look at it but soon noticed that the surroundings were starting to break like broken mirrors.

Before long, Charles found himself in his bedroom and soon showed a surprised face.

"A dice, huh.." He nodded inwardly, took out another empty notebook from the nearby rack, and wrote down all the information in it.
