Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 46: One Sword, One Slash

Just only a few minutes before the fight, Jane was leading her disciples in Moon Academy, when suddenly Scarlett appeared from the side and blocked her way.

“Do you need anything?”, asked Jane with a slight raise of her eyebrow.

Scarlett on the other hand instead of answering right away just stepped to the side, revealing a girl from behind her back.

“One of my disciples wants to challenge one of yours.”, said Scarlett calmly as she looked at Jane.

This statement surprised quite a lot behind Jane, curious just who the girl wanted to challenge.

“And who is the one she wants to fight with?”, asked Jane, but she already knew the answer. To tell the truth, it was quite obvious, but still, let Scarlet to answer.

“I want to fight with her!”, answered the girl suddenly from the side, cutting before Scarlett, who just was about to reply.

“Just as I have thought.”, nodded Jane slightly and glanced behind her, where the girl has pointed.

“I hope you know what this means.”, said Jane in a calm, but strict manner as she looked at Liza.

“Yes, Master!”, nodded Liza seriously and glanced at the girl on Scarlett’s side.

“Fine. I will accept your challenge.”

When the girl heard this, a satisfied smile emerged on her face and without hesitation turned around.

“Perfect! Then follow me!”

Surprised and also a bit annoyed by her behavior, Liza glanced at her teacher, but seeing her unfazed expression she didn’t say anything and just followed her in silence.

Scarlett, Jane, and their students all followed the two into a huge building on the side, that looked exactly like the others.

However, the moment they entered, before Liza and everyone else, what arose was not a room, but a huge circular-shaped arena with a big platform in the very middle.

The interior looked quite like a Colosseum, but with the only difference that this was 5 times bigger, even though that from the outside, it would have been impossible to imagine that such an enormous space could be fit inside.

While mesmerized by the scenery before her, the girl who challenged Liza walked to the middle of the platform and waited patiently.

Jane and Scarlett after telling their students to take a seat in the viewing area walked either side of the platform and waited for Liza to walk to the middle too.

“My name is Janna Silvercut and I want to challenge you for the key’s right!”

*BAM!*

Instantly as those words sounded, a small explosion broke out from Liza’s body and with a flash, a white light appeared between the two right above in the air.

It was the V.I.P key that Liza got from Jas at the moment she enrolled into Moon Academy.

Liza seeing her key in the air glanced at Janna before her and nodded slightly.

As this happened, Jane on the side looked at both girls and started to talk.

“The challenge will end if one side gets knocked out or either gives up. No killing is allowed and it is strongly prohibited! We will stop the fight immediately if we see that things get out of control, so use your full strength freely!”

As Jane said this, she raised her hand and waited for the two to prepare themselves.

“I will win!”, said Janna as she took up a fighting posture, while in her left hand, close to her waist, a katana in its scabbard manifested.

“A weapon associated Talent? That girl will be a tough opponent.”, thought Jane with a serious expression, while she glanced at Scarlett’s proud look.

Weapon-associated Talents were rare, but at the same time extremely powerful Talents in the cultivation world. Cultivators with such Talent were especially dangerous against others in the same Cultivation Stage.

But that was why those who had such Talent struggled almost all the time to reach the Final Stage in the First Realm.

Because their Talent was not associated precisely with their body like Liza’s or Khal’s, they needed a special method to transfer the consumed Beast Essence into their Talent, giving them the chance to reach the next Stage.

The process was somewhat similar to Khal’s situation. The only difference however was that while Khal didn’t need to do a thing because the bracelet worked instead of him, until then cultivators with such Talent needed to do it themselves.

And that process wasn’t an easy one at all.

But that was why, those who succeeded to become stronger with such Talents, 99% of the time became powerful experts.

The remaining 1% only failed to become one because they had been killed when they were still weak on the lower Stages or failed to comprehend the transferring process.

“Let’s see how you will face this problem.”, thought Jane calmly and glanced at Liza on the other side.

But to her surprise, Liza looked just as unfazed as ever. Even after discovering what her opponent’s Talent was, she still stood in one place like an immovable mountain.

Her whole being told Jane, that even if her opponent was a powerful expert, she wouldn’t get scared at all.

Seeing this, Jane could only smile narrowly, and after closing her eyes, she lowered her arm.

“Get ready… Fight!”

*Swish!*

*BOOM!*

Just a second after her signal has sounded, a huge explosion broke out, and a huge dust cloud arose around the place where Liza just stood a moment ago.

“!?”

Everything happened so fast that the onlookers on the viewing area turned speechless, while Scarlett and Jane looked at this sight with extreme seriousness.

“I was reckless!”, thought Jane with a frozen expression, knowing that she has just made a huge mistake.

“Wha… What happened just now?”

“I… Don’t know. I was unable to see a thing.”

“Was it her Talent? But her Talent is that katana, so how could she be so fast?”

On the viewing area, as people talked among each other with shock and confusion trying to figure out just what happened, suddenly Ella, the twin-tailed blondie started to talk calmly.

“She just used a Secret Art.”

“A Secret Art? What? At such a young age and only on the First Cultivation Stage you think she can use a Secret Art?”, asked a guy next to Ella with a snort, bot believing what he just heard.

“But that is the truth. If you don’t believe me just look at her body.”, said Ella with a still calm expression and pointed at Janna on the platform.

The guy and everyone else did as she said, and a small while later, all of their expression paled.

“She… Really used Secret Art…”, said the guy and turned his head to the other side.

“Then, did she just…”, started to say, but before he would have had the chance to finish his sentence, suddenly the dust on the side moved and started to dissipate.

However, when the smoke finally vanished into the air and revealed what happened with Liza, everyone’s eyes widened with shock.

Liza, who was just attacked now with a powerful ability, stood still where she originally was, acting as nothing happened a few seconds ago at all.

But this wasn’t the real reason why everyone was speechless, but instead the sight before her.

Exactly a meter away from her figure, a huge wall made out of shining sky blue ice could be seen, protecting her whole body from the previous attack completely.

“Such fast reaction speed and powerful Talent! So this is a Natural Born’s power?”, thought Scarlett with great surprise as she glanced at Liza’s relaxed expression behind the ice wall.
