Closed Beta That Only I Played

Chapter 29

Chapter 29: Time still flows (1)

At first I thought the numbers were wrong.

In other words, I thought 899, not 8,999, was the correct number, but it was still 8,999 when I checked it two or three times.

“Is it because it’s a sword?”

The Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword, not cane, to which a Level 3 Ice Weapon is always applied, and the 20% chance of frostbite increase only when the opponent is hit with the guardian sword. Obviously, the weapon was designed for a close-ranged combat.

At that moment, I remembered what my sister had said to me.

[Of course, it’s a problematic item. It’s an ice-type weapon, rather cumbersome for a wizard to use. Um… I would call it a necessary nuisance.]

A necessary nuisance… unfortunately I knew its meaning in high school when I played ‘Forgotten Legend,’ the predecessor of ‘Revival Legend.’

However, it didn’t look like a necessary nuisance in my eyes because I knew a way to increase the level.

***

“Huuuuuuuuh.”

I spent as much as 30 minutes sitting in a cafe and looking at the Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword with a smile. I was there partly because I was forbidden to hunt for a while due to the 100 Level only enhancement quest.

“By the way, is this the right weapon for Level 700?”

Of course, I can use it at exactly Level 700 as long as I invest all stat points in Intellectual Power only at Level 700. But it’s impossible because investing 7,000 stat points in Intellectual Power alone means that the rest of my Strength, Agility, Physical Power, and Willpower will have 10 stat points, which I had when I first created my character. Of course, it is possible to increase it with items or skills, but the number of the initial stat points increased by the items or skills is not big.

During the 3rd closed beta, there were only 50 to 100 stat points at most even for the “precious” grade items. Moreover, what was needed was Physical strength and Willpower. It was impossible to keep only the items with the options and number that one wanted among the numerous items.

Considering all of this, I thought I would reach at least Level 800 or Level 900 if all things go well.

But I smiled at myself before I knew it because I could use it at exactly Level 700 with overflowing health and mana. That was because my Physical Strength with the same level as Intellectual Power and Willpower would be able to display enormous figures.

This time, something else caught my eye, namely 500 Power and 300 Agility.

At first, I felt sorry that I had no Intellectual Power, but I felt better when I thought about the increase in Intellectual Power with items because Mutual Growth was not applied.

Of course, Physical strength and Willpower don’t increase due to Mutual Growth, but it’s true that if Intellectual Power increases by 100, so does Intellectual Power.

So, of course, it would be nice if I had it because my main stat is Intellectual Power anyway. But I felt that I didn’t need to keep Intellectual Power for the Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword because I planned to invest all of the stat points to be gained by leveling up only in Intellectual Power.

Of course, there was a main option for the Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword, which was increasing the performance of all ice-type skills by 10%. But given the item itself, it was not that impressive because I had no increase in Intellectual Power to add its 10%, and my magical attack power was only 899.

Level 899 was slightly higher than the precious grade Enhancement 3 Stick I gained during the third closed beta. In other words, it was too low to be regarded as a myth grade item. But I had the ‘Iceman’ trait that increased skill performance of all ice-type series by 30%, although the numbers were different. So, the 10% addition here meant a total of 40%, which was more than enough.

If I added the magic attack power of Level 899, I would not stay at that level forever because I had the ‘God of Enhancement’ trait.

Moreover, since I often surfed the ‘Revival Legend’ homepage here and there while playing the game, I knew that Safety Enhancement 3 was applied to General, Rare, Precious and Legend grade only. In other words, the Myth grade was set at 0 from the beginning. So, overwhelming the Legend item with Enhancement 3 was like an Enhancement 0 Myth grade item.

At that moment I felt goosebumps at the images of myself holding a Myth-grade weapon with a red glow, well beyond Safety Enhancement 3, 4, and 5. Of course, it will take me some time to reach that point.

I stood up right away because I couldn’t hold back the sense of exaltation when I just imagined it. So, I moved straight. Although I was forbidden to hunt for now, I had some other things to do, namely acquiring skills immediately. I moved straight to the huge tower in the central square.

[This is the tower where heroes’ abilities have been recorded.

-There are limitations on acquiring things according to individual ability.]

When I approached the tower in the central square, the message I always heard rang.

As it was familiar to me, I naturally responded.

“Search Ice-based skills.”

[Obtainable Ice-type skills are currently available.]

[Upgradeable Ice-type skills are currently available.]

-Level 2 Ice Ball. (700 golden rings required)

: Throws ice cubes at enemies within 15 meters.

: Attack range and damage increase depending on Intellectual Power.

: Upgradeable to Level 3 Ice Ball later.

-Level 2 Ice Bolt. (700 golden rings required)

: Throws ice bolt with slight penetration at enemies within 15 meters.

: Attack range and damage increase depending on Intellectual Power.

: Upgradeable to Level 3 Ice Bolt later.

-Level 2 Ice Weapon (700 golden rings required)

: Puts frost on the weapon to inflict additional damage to the opponent.

: Additional damage by the ice increases based on Intellectual Power.

: Upgradeable to Level 3 Ice Weapon later.

What came up on the skill window were the upgradeable skills I attained, namely Level 1 Ice Ball to Level 2 Ice Bolt and Level 1 Ice Weapon to Level 2 respectively.

But I skipped this because I already decided what to learn first, which was the AoE skills. Moreover, if the skill points were insufficient, I needed to delete instead of upgrading them.

So, I skipped the list of upgradeable skills and started looking for the AoE skills.

-Level 2 Ice Field (Active, 1 skill point required, 25,000 golden rings required)

: An area of 10 meters in radius will be made of thin ice to inflict damage to everyone in the area.

: Occurrence range and damage will constantly increase depending on Intellectual Power.

: Upgradeable to Level 5 or 7 Ice Field.

-Level 2 Hailstones (Active, 1 skill point required, 56,000 golden rings required)

: Create hailstones to attack an area with a radius of 10 meters.

: Hail area, the size of hailstones, and hail amount will increase depending on Intellectual Power.

: Upgradeable to Level 4, 6, and 8.

“Acquire Level 2 Ice Field and Level 2 Hailstones.”

Both of them were my favorite skills during the third closed beta. Of course, I used even Level 3 Thin Ice Creation at that time.

[You have chosen Level 2 Ice Field and Level 2 Hailstones.

-A total of 2 skill points and 81,000 golden rings are required.

-Do you want to acquire 2 skills?]

“Yes.”

I chose to acquire them immediately because I thought of learning them before I came here.

“Hmm. Is there any AoE skill that I can learn at Level 2 other than these?”

I still had a surplus of skill points. If they were insufficient, I could acquire them by deleting Level 1 Ice Ball. Then, I noticed the AoE skills that I missed during the first, second and third betas.

-Level 2 Ice Blast (Active, 1 skill point required, 33,000 golden rings required.)

: Blasts ice randomly, causing damage to nearby enemies. (It does not take effect if there is no ice nearby.)

: Depending on Intellectual Power, it affects the size of the blast, which increases the range and damage of ice scattering in all directions.

: Upgradeable to Level 4 or 6 Ice Blast.
